Chapter 596: Chapter 460: Little Cub for Bamboo Shoots

Although Flora Bloom was worried about Lex Cross’s injuries, she understood the priorities.

If Levi Seymour didn’t die, their secret would be exposed. Men die for wealth as birds die for food. With Earth currently crawling with major powers from the Ancient Universe, their future would become hopelessly chaotic.

"Shauna Wallace! Can’t you see I’m hurt? Hurry up and heal me!"

Shauna Wallace and Flora Bloom exchanged a glance. A shower of Healing System superpower descended, sprinkling not only over Levi Seymour but also over Lex Cross and Flora Bloom.

Neither Flora Bloom nor Shauna Wallace spoke. Levi Seymour was blind; he couldn’t see what Shauna Wallace was doing. That meant Flora Bloom didn’t have to pull Shauna into her personal space.

Shauna Wallace’s Healing System superpower only managed to restore a small amount of their spiritual power. The wound on Lex Cross’s hand didn’t heal, however, due to the lingering effects of the Devouring System’s energy.

Wounds inflicted by a Devouring System superpower not only corroded the flesh but could also consume any external healing attempts.

The same was true for Levi Seymour.

"AGH! My eyes! Why aren’t they healing?! Impossible!"

"The Devouring System superpower of the Cross family is quite something. I had to let you get a taste of it."

"You! You young whelp! You’re just as vile and shameless as that ancestor of yours from the Cross family! To think you’d use such a dirty trick... I’ll kill you!"

However, now that Levi Seymour was blind, every superpower he unleashed went wide, completely missing Lex Cross and Flora Bloom.

Dagger in hand, Lex Cross shrouded himself in the energy of the Devouring System. He flickered from left to right, sometimes vanishing entirely, as he slowly closed in on Levi Seymour.

Levi Seymour was toyed with until he was completely disoriented. Seizing the opportunity, Flora Bloom suddenly unleashed her War God Level plant-based superpower, binding him tight. In that instant, Lex Cross closed the distance. He swept his dagger around Levi Seymour’s neck, and with a spray of hot blood from the severed artery, the man’s head was lopped off.

Levi Seymour had died an incredibly frustrating death. Back in the Ancient Universe, he could have fought Lex Cross with his full, unrestrained power.

But this region of space around Earth was too fragile; excessively explosive energy would only hasten its collapse. He had already discovered that Earth was a High-level life-bearing planet. Its value would be even greater if it were fitted with a spatial stabilization device.

He had also dispatched men back to the Source Universe to find life forms capable of reinforcing the space. If they were quick, he could have claimed Earth for himself within a decade.

’That was why he had been so hesitant during the fight, afraid to use his more destructive ultimate attacks. And because he had underestimated his enemies, he had actually been killed just like that!’

Levi Seymour was dead, but his War God Level internal space didn’t vanish with him. Instead, it condensed into a Crystal Stone, similar in appearance to a Divine-level Space Fragment.

Flora Bloom picked it up to take a look. Mere seconds after her hand touched it, the Crystal Stone suddenly shattered. A huge pile of bamboo shoots burst out from the fragments, just like a loot drop in a video game.

Flora Bloom incinerated Levi Seymour’s corpse with a blast of True Sun Fire until nothing but ash remained. Then, she turned her attention to the bamboo shoots on the ground.

These bamboo shoots were truly massive.

Even the smallest one was as thick as Lex Cross’s arm. As for the largest, Flora Bloom couldn’t even get her arms all the way around it.

"These bamboo shoots must have come from a mutated bamboo forest. With shoots this big, the forest itself must be quite conspicuous." As Flora Bloom spoke, she suddenly recalled the Mutated Beast—the iron-eater—that had fled with its cub earlier.

If Lex Cross weren’t injured, she would have loved to go find that iron-eater right away, pull it into her personal space, and vent her frustration by petting it furiously.

"Lex, let’s head back to Morhaven Base first and get your wound treated!"

Lex Cross was about to say something when a RUSTLING sound came from the nearby woods. It was immediately followed by a tremor that shook the ground, causing both him and Flora Bloom to stumble and struggle for balance.

A giant, black-and-white-furred Mutated Beast charged out from the bamboo patch, diving into the pile of bamboo shoots and immediately starting to eat. A tiny creature hiding in the fur on its shoulder let out mouse-like SQUEAKS, clearly eager to taste the fragrant shoots as well.

Unfortunately, it was still too small. Even for a Mutated Beast, it couldn’t be weaned and start eating bamboo shoots just yet.

Lex Cross instinctively pulled Flora Bloom behind him, his face a mask of wary vigilance.

Flora Bloom, however, found the situation odd.

"Lex, don’t you find this strange?"

"Hmm?"

"Didn’t Lance Holland and his team say this iron-eater was ferocious by nature and incredibly aggressive? That two of his teammates were killed by it?"

"That is what they said," Lex Cross confirmed with a nod.
