Chapter 586: Chapter 456: A Large Block of Ice in the Belly

"You’re with the Thunder Element, and you killed Robin in a single blow. With that kind of power, if you joined our team, we could go deeper into the bamboo forest to hunt Mutated Beasts!"

"Don’t be ridiculous!" Lance Holland shot back, then looked at Lex Cross apologetically. "We have no intention of forcing you to join. You saved us. Even if you decide not to, I’ll still provide you with a place to stay."

Lex Cross’s eyes narrowed as he glanced toward the bathroom where Flora Bloom was.

"I have no problem with it. If my wife agrees, we can join you."

Lance Holland’s face flushed with excitement. "R-really? You’d really be willing to join us?"

Melanie Lawson and the others also stared eagerly at Lex Cross and Saul Sterling.

"All right, everyone, no need to crowd around us. We’ve just arrived at Aethelgard Base and we don’t know the first thing about it. Could you tell us about the rules here?"

"Rules?" The man sighed. "There used to be. But ever since the Seymour family arrived, the base has been in chaos. It’s common for people with powerful teams to use their high-level superpowers to bully others, just to expand their territory and absorb smaller groups.

The Seymours don’t do anything about it, and our original leader hasn’t cared since he became their lackey. He even took a large group of superpower users with him when he joined them. A complete lackey!"

This floor had four washrooms. Each contained a large bathtub, three wooden tubs, and several small jars for storing water.

The moment Lana stepped inside, tears welled up in her eyes, and she began to cry silently.

"Hey, don’t cry! If the people outside hear you, they’ll think I’m bullying you!"

"I-I’m sorry! I... I just wanted to ask you not to tell anyone about this!"

A white mist materialized and swirled around them.

"What is this?" Lana asked, her eyes wide.

"Don’t worry, it’ll block any sound from getting out." Before, Flora Bloom’s mist could only conceal their forms. But ever since her Water Ability advanced to the Cosmic Level, it could now completely isolate sound.

Of course, it was still ineffective against beings with higher Superpower Levels who could perceive heat signatures, or creatures with skills that could see through it.

"Why didn’t you tell anyone you were pregnant? I think Captain Lance Holland treats everyone well. If you hide it from them, how are they supposed to help you?"

"I... I’m just so scared! I’m only twenty! I never thought I’d get pregnant! In the world we live in now, childbirth is as dangerous for a woman as it was in ancient times. Every time I think about it, I get terrified!"

Flora Bloom frowned. ’That’s probably not what she’s really worried about. The chill emanating from her body must be related to the fetus in her womb.’

"What you’re afraid of is people finding out who the baby’s father is, isn’t it? Once a superpower user’s life level gets high enough, it becomes very difficult for them to conceive.

And when they do, the child is born with a superpower. You’re cold all over... the baby must have inherited its father’s Ice Ability. Even though it’s not fully developed yet, it’s like a frozen orb of energy, periodically releasing that energy into your abdomen.

Ice Ability is a Mutated Superpower of the Water Element. As far as I know, there are only two people in Aethelgard Base who have it. One is Irene Seymour. It’s obviously not her... which leaves Robin, the man who’s already dead?"

Lana’s eyes darted away, and she gave a weak nod. Then she looked at Flora Bloom, her expression fraught with anxiety. "You... you can’t tell anyone!"

"You’re having such a strong reaction and you’re not even showing yet. Have you considered the risks of carrying a child who’s a natural-born Ice Ability user? It’s entirely possible you, the host, could freeze to death before the child is even born."

"Huh? It’s that serious?"

"It’s like you have a block of ice in your belly that’s constantly growing. Once it reaches a certain size, whether your body can withstand the freeze will be a huge problem!"

Lana had only known that pregnancy and childbirth were dangerous for women; she had no idea the child in her womb could pose such a threat before it was even fully formed.

In an instant, her initial nervousness and fear morphed into full-blown panic.

"Don’t panic just yet. I can keep your secret for now, but you need to think about whether you actually want to keep this child. After all, if you decide to go through with it, you won’t be able to hide it once you start showing."

"I... I don’t know! I’m just so scared!"

Flora Bloom patted her shoulder. "Calm down. If you decide not to keep it, I have a way to help you. But you have to truly trust me."

’It’s not just about her trusting me; I have to be able to trust her, too. Morhaven Base has Robin Grant and Maeve Preston, plus better medical facilities. If she decided not to keep the baby, I could help her.’

’But subconsciously, Flora Bloom felt that in an environment like this, terminating the pregnancy would be no less dangerous than carrying it to term.’

’But she didn’t want to say any of that right now.’ 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

’She had only just discovered the woman’s pregnancy. Why did Lana suddenly pull her aside, crying and spilling all her secrets?’

’Flora Bloom always kept her guard up when things didn’t seem quite right.’
