Chapter 460 -450: Real World

This wasn’t the first time Tang Mo had stepped through this door.

Even with her immense spiritual power, she still felt like her body was being torn apart.

It was hard to imagine what an ordinary person must feel passing through this door.

Before she could even open her eyes, the first sensation to greet her back in her own world was cold—a bone-chilling cold.

She didn’t know if it was because she’d spent too long in a world of comfort or if this one had simply grown colder, but Tang Mo felt the environment was far harsher than when she had left.

She opened her eyes, pushed herself up from the snow, and quickly ran into the nearby Protective Shield.

Tang Mo hadn’t been gone for too long this time. Upon her return, she found everyone living safely within Protective Shields of various sizes.

The freezing climate was temporarily held at bay, and food supplies could still last for a while, so everyone was living in an orderly fashion, not yet in dire straits.

Human ingenuity is limitless. Trapped for so long within the confines of the Protective Shields, while the snow outside piled up to an adult’s thigh, the people had to find ways to keep from going stir-crazy.

To avoid sitting idly in the limited space, they had come up with all sorts of simple games.

There were card games, board games, and all kinds of custom-made tabletop games. As Tang Mo entered the large Protective Shield, she was greeted by these lively scenes.

Everyone’s spirits were surprisingly high, as if they were doing their utmost to stay happy and forget their troubles, consciously avoiding the pull of despair.

It had to be said, entertainment was the best way to temporarily forget one’s worries and relieve mental stress.

“Ancestral Master, you’re back!”

The people of Wuxi Village managed the Protective Shield around the clock. The personnel were mostly fixed, so few people came in or went out.

That’s why the Sect Leader noticed and rushed over the moment Tang Mo entered the Protective Shield.

Seeing Tang Mo standing before him, safe and sound, the Sect Leader’s eyes lit up with a fanatical glow.

Everyone knew Tang Mo had gone in for the Spirit Power Pearl, and now she had successfully emerged from the second Illusion Realm.

If she could just complete the final Illusion Realm, she would obtain the Space Pearl, and all Five Beads would be in human hands.

Then, they could finally fulfill the hope of all humanity.

“Mm, I’m back.”

She understood what the Sect Leader was thinking, but her return wasn’t as simple as just emerging from the second Illusion Realm.

Tang Mo had already completed all three Illusion Realms.

The moment she stepped back through the door, she had felt the Space Pearl appear in her sea of consciousness.

She had already successfully fused the Spirit Power Pearl, the Power Pearl, and the Life Pearl within her sea of consciousness.

So she adapted quickly to the sudden appearance of the Space Pearl, as if it had always been a part of her.

But its mere presence wasn’t enough; she still had to fuse with it.

That was the most important part of her plan.

After asking the Sect Leader for a quick update on the Protective Shield’s status, she learned that everything was fine. The spiritual power she had stored for them last time was more than enough.

Meanwhile, the environment in the real world outside was just as she’d sensed—it was growing increasingly hostile.

The temperature had dropped so drastically that it was now nearly impossible for anyone to survive outside for even a minute.

Fortunately, however, this information had already been transmitted worldwide via their ID Watches.

Most Spiritual Ability Users had established their own Protective Shields, large and small. Many survivors across the globe were holding on, waiting for the day hope would return to the world.

“What are they doing?”

Tang Mo pointed to several people in Wuxi Village attire sitting at the very edge of the Protective Shield.

‘There aren’t any migrants coming through now. Who could they be waiting for by the entrance?’

“They are Spiritual Ability Users, and they maintain powerful personal Protective Shields. The outside world is dangerously cold now. If someone were to successfully complete a mission in the Illusion World, only to materialize and fall into a snowdrift, they could freeze solid if they hesitated for even a moment before getting up. So, to prevent unnecessary casualties, I’ve specifically assigned them here as a rescue team, ready to assist anyone who emerges.”

The Sect Leader explained meticulously.

Tang Mo nodded. ‘I really didn’t misjudge him.’ The Sect Leader was incredibly thorough. With him in charge, she could rest easy, knowing that matters both large and small were well-managed.

Tang Mo went to see Lin Yi and say hello. She hadn’t seen Yangyang in a while, and he’d grown quite a bit.

There were a number of other children within the Protective Shield, so Yangyang didn’t lack for playmates.

Some of the experts and research scholars here had no instruments or materials to put their skills to use. Left with little choice, and wanting to both pass the time and feel useful, they started gathering the children who were running around the base and giving them lessons.

They taught a miscellany of subjects, not worrying too much about whether the children understood. They figured if they just poured out all their knowledge, some of it was bound to stick. It was a win-win-win situation.

“Momo, please stay a while this time before you go again. Mom knows you have a heavy sense of responsibility, but don’t wear yourself out.”

Lin Yi looked at her daughter, who had finally returned, and stroked her hair.

Lin Yi knew Tang Mo put immense pressure on herself. But more than her daughter’s responsibility to save the world, Lin Yi was concerned about whether Tang Mo herself could simply live well and be happy.

Having her child in constant danger was a heart-stopping reality for any mother.

Rather than being the mother of a hero, any mother would rather her own precious child be healthy and happy.

“Mm, I’m not leaving for a while this time.”

Tang Mo rested her head on Lin Yi’s lap, savoring her mother’s gentle affection.

In those other two worlds, she had played the part of someone else’s daughter. Now, she was finally back with her own mother.

Tang Mo decided not to tell anyone about obtaining the Space Pearl just yet. She still needed to fuse with it, and even after that, she would have to face an even bigger problem.

If she announced it now, all eyes would be on her, and the pressure would be immense.

Don’t announce your victories before they’re won—that had always been Tang Mo’s way.

“Hasn’t Qin Ling come back yet?”

She had been so immersed in the other worlds, so focused on completing her missions, that only now, upon her return, did Tang Mo realize how long it had been since she’d seen Qin Ling.

“Xiao Qin came back right after you left. He stayed here for a while waiting for you before he had to leave again. And wouldn’t you know it, you returned not long after he was gone.”

Lin Yi teased her daughter. It was only when talking about Qin Ling that she could still see the young girl in Tang Mo.

‘What terrible timing,’ Tang Mo lamented inwardly.

‘But maybe this is for the best. While he’s gone, I need to work faster. I’ll have a surprise for him when he gets back.’
