Chapter 922: End of Uchiha’s Coup d’état

“Hasten, assist the wounded before it’s too late. We must not allow any of our fellow villagers to perish!”

Following Yui’s orders, the Iryō-nin immediately began providing emergency treatment to the injured Uchiha clansmen on the streets. As for the heavily armed attire worn by the Uchiha clansmen, it was intentionally overlooked.

Faced with an unexpected situation, the Uchiha clansmen were taken aback and let out a sigh of relief. Simultaneously, they also felt inexplicably ashamed and guilty. Ignoring their expressions, Shizune walked over to a less injured Uchiha clansman. While aiding in his recovery, she inquired, “Where is your Patriarch? And where are Uchiha Shisui and Uchiha Shinichi?”

She needed to ascertain the situation of these three individuals as they possessed the Mangekyou Sharingan. Their combined combat abilities were superior to the rest of the Uchiha Clan, so only by confirming their status could they determine whether the Coup d’état had been thwarted or not.

The Uchiha shinobi shook his head with a puzzled expression. “I… I don’t know where they are. They haven’t appeared up until now! Maybe… maybe they were engaged in combat with the members of Amatsukami somewhere else!”

Even now, the Uchiha clansmen did not question Shisui and Shinichi’s absence. They did not even consider the possibility that the ones who had attacked them were Shisui and Shinichi, and not the Amatsukami.

After all, it is common knowledge in the Shinobi World that there are two Mangekyou Sharingan users within the Amatsukami. Since only two Homusubi had appeared within the Uchiha District, suspicions about Shinichi and Shisui being the attackers could be ruled out.

Upon hearing the Uchiha clansmen’s response, Shizune glanced at Yui and inquired, “What should we do now?”

After a moment of reflection, Yui directed the Hokage Guard Platoon, “Split up and find them—Uchiha Shisui, Uchiha Shinichi, Uchiha Fugaku—and also Uchiha Itachi.”

“Understood,” nodded the four members of the Hokage Guard Platoon.

While they carried out the search for the four Uchiha, Yui decided to take these injured Uchiha clansmen to the Konoha Hospital.

Due to Satori’s recent rampage, the Konoha Hospital was already overcrowded and in chaos. Consequently, when the injured Uchiha clansmen were brought in, they went unnoticed by the ordinary villagers. With a shortage of available rooms, many Uchiha clansmen with less severe injuries were accommodated in the main hall alongside the regular patients.

Izumi, who was overseeing the Konoha Hospital in the absence of Tsunade-hime, Yui, and Shizune, felt relief as tears streamed down her cheeks. “They… they are all alive. The coup d’état did not take place!”

While unable to control her tears, Izumi looked around with worry and panic, asking, “Everyone… what… what happened to them? Did Satori also attack them?” Izumi had brought Kiyomi to the Konoha Hospital a while ago, so she had witnessed Satori’s sudden appearance in Konoha that had caused havoc.

Izumi wiped her tears and said to Kiyomi, “Now is not the time to dwell on that issue. Let’s focus on helping everyone. As for what transpired within the Clan, we can try to figure that out later.”

“But…!” Kiyomi began to argue, but then she noticed Fugaku and Mikoto in the crowd and rushed toward them.

Watching Kiyomi embrace Mikoto, Izumi felt relieved and concentrated on aiding the injured.

While Yui supervised the medical treatment at the Konoha Hospital, a team of Anbu rushed in, escorting the entourage of the Mizukage. While the Iryō-nin provided necessary medical care to the Mizukage’s entourage, Yui questioned one of the Anbu, “What happened to Satori?”

The Anbu replied, “Yui-sama, Hokage-sama has defeated Satori without sustaining any injuries, and the sealing squad led by Tsunade-sama has successfully sealed it, so there’s no need to worry about them.”

“Great!” Hearing the Anbu’s report, Yui’s tension finally eased, and she let out a sigh of relief. She immediately asked, “Then where is Kuroto-kun?”

“Um… Actually…” The Anbu seemed uncertain about how to answer her question.

Kurenai, standing beside Yui, sensed that something was amiss and inquired, “What’s happened?”

The Anbu had no choice but to respond, “Please forgive us. I’m sorry, but we don’t know where Hokage-sama has gone.”

“What do you mean?” Yui asked with a furrowed brow.

The Anbu shook his head. “I don’t know. Perhaps only Elder Hiruzen and the others can provide an answer. Kuroto left with the words ‘Let’s not abandon hope just yet’ and hastily departed without explaining anything to Elder Hiruzen or the others, so no one in Konoha knows where he went.”

Alongside the injured Uchiha clansmen and ordinary villagers, Asuma’s team was also brought to the Konoha Hospital by the Anbu. Their unexpected encounter with the fleeing puppet of Aoki had left Asuma and the Anbu squads he had led to eliminate the threat of Bounty Hunters, Wandering Samurai, and rogue-nin injured, with various burns.

Upon their arrival at the Konoha Hospital, they too were placed in the main hall for treatment due to the limited number of available rooms, which were already occupied by patients with more severe injuries.

Covered in bandages, Asuma held a cigarette in his mouth and searched his pocket for a lighter, only to realize that it had been lost during the fight against the unknown enemy. Unable to find a light, he turned to an injured villager beside him and asked, “Hey, man, do you have a lighter?”

Uchiha Shin, wrapped in bandages just like Asuma, also searched his pockets and handed over a lighter, saying, “Here you go.”

As the lighter was passed between them, both parties recognized each other’s identities.

Asuma was taken aback; he hadn’t expected that the injured person lying next to him would be one of the Uchiha Clansmen. After taking the lighter, lighting his cigarette, and taking a puff of smoke, he pondered for a moment before asking, “What happened to you?”

Uchiha Shin accepted the cigarette, took a drag, and replied, “I was attacked by a lunatic. How about you?” He then passed the cigarette back to Asuma.

Asuma took another drag and let out a sigh. “I was attacked by a psychopath.”

“It seems neither of us had good luck tonight,” Uchiha Shin remarked with a troubled expression.

Asuma couldn’t help but think, ‘Why do I feel that it’s quite the opposite?’ as he observed the other injured people in the hall. It was surprising to see the injured Anbu and the injured Uchiha Clansmen chatting and even laughing at each other’s misfortune. Perhaps it was because both sides had suffered tonight at the hands of foreign enemies, allowing them to set aside their pride and differences and converse harmoniously.

However, this harmonious atmosphere made Asuma feel somewhat awkward, as he was aware of the events that were going to transpire tonight.

If Kuroto hadn’t brought Amatsukami into the picture, the two sides that were chatting and laughing would have been at each other’s throats, and Konoha might have descended into the flames of a civil war. However, Amatsukami’s involvement changed the situation entirely.

Simultaneously, Asuma also noticed that the ordinary villagers coming and going from the hospital, as well as the medical staff at the Konoha Hospital, didn’t treat the injured Uchiha with suspicion. This indicated that the coup d’état had been thwarted without causing much commotion. The rebellion of the most powerful clan had ended in such a manner that, had Asuma not witnessed the results himself, he wouldn’t have believed it.

“Who would have thought that Kuroto’s plan would work so effectively? Perhaps this is the best possible outcome for the Uchiha’s coup d’état,” thought Asuma with a sigh of relief as he closed his eyes and drifted into sleep.
