Within the layers of dark clouds shrouding the sky over the Forest of Death, streaks of lightning flashed one after another, illuminating the entire gloomy sky.

Along with the streaks of lightning, the rain also became heavier and heavier as more and more clouds started to burst.

Standing in this heavy torrential downpour, two figures with lightning cloaking their bodies were breathing heavily as they faced each other from a distance.

On the opposite side, Darui’s hair bristled like a hedgehog, and his attire resembled a heap of tattered rags. Numerous scars were apparent on his body. The broadsword he was using while clashing Raijin had been broken at some time, and all that he had in his arm was the sword’s hilt. It was no longer usable. On the other hand, his face had no signs of his usual laziness, rather he was solemn and there were traces of surprise clearly evident, ‘This guy…’

When the fight began, Darui was somewhat complacent and had the idea of killing Raijin, however, as the battle progressed he realized that he was a fool for thinking that he would be able to kill Raijin this easily, by now, his complacent thoughts had turned into suspicion as he wondered how an Amegakure Genin managed to master the Lightning Chakra Armor to this extent.

Although Raijin’s Lightning Chakra Armor is still not completed, it is more than enough to make Darui frown.

Raijin is… Strong! Very Strong! Perhaps even stronger than the strongest Raikage! This is Darui’s personal evaluation of Raijin.

Mastering Lightning Chakra Nature is the most difficult out of all the five Chakra Natures and in the range of Lightning Style Jutsu, the Lightning Chakra Armor is very unique and exclusive to the Kumogakure. No one other than the Raikages has been able to master the Lightning Chakra Cloak in the decades-long history of Shinobi Villages.

For this very reason, each generation of Raikage is an out-and-out monster, there’s barely any comparison between the Raikage and the other standard Kages. After all, Lightning Chakra Cloak not only enhances the user’s senses and speed, but it also works on their defense, strength, endurance, and Chakra Levels. Heck, Raikages normally have as much Chakra as a tailed beast!

This kind of strength has always been a pride for Kumogakure.

When Darui discovered the extent of Raijin’s mastery of a Jutsu that has always been exclusive to Kumogakure, the doubts in his heart became more and more pronounced. He was still finding it a little difficult to believe that a Ninja that was not from Kumogakure, but from Amegakure had mastered the Lightning Chakra Cloak.

Not only is Raijin’s accomplishment in the Lightning Nature Chakra absurd, but he also possesses the Storm Release Kekkei Genkai and has absurd physical strength along with very high Chakra Reserves. Fighting against Raijin reminded Darui of his experience fighting against Sandaime Raikage and Yondaime Raikage!

After coughing out some blood, Darui spoke, “Raijin, you are indeed an enemy worthy of my seriousness…”

Raijin wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with his wet sleeve, then chuckled, “That so? In that case, let’s get serious and show some real skill… That’s enough warming up, right?”

“Warm up?!” Darui’s lips twitched as he looked around. That was definitely not a warm-up, though he does agree that he still has a lot more to offer, but he was hesitant and shook his head, “It’s just a Chūnin Exam, do we really need to fight to that extent? You should be very clear that if we continue to fight, the results might be terrible for others…”

Although Darui had the thought of assassinating Raijin, after his confrontation he realized that it wouldn’t be so easy so he did not want to engage in this pointless fight. As for assassinating Raijin? There will be more opportunities in the future.

Raijin shrugged, “In that case, you can admit defeat and withdraw from the Chūnin Promotion Exam… but you’d have to leave behind the Scroll you obtained as well as both of your teammates…”

Darui narrowed his eyes, “……” He did not like Raijin’s ultimatum and realized that he had no other choice but to fight, “It seems we are going to fight until the end…”

If the condition only concerned him, he wouldn’t mind accepting the unreasonable condition, however, the condition involved the lives of Shee and Atsui, and it also involved his village, as he is representing Kumogakure. If he withdraws from the Chūnin Promotion Exam during the second part, that will seriously affect the reputation of his village, and Darui cannot allow that to happen, especially not from a ninja of another village who uses Lightning Nature Jutsu.

Kumogakure must remain the absolute leader when it comes to Lightning Chakra Nature.

Raijin chuckled, “Oh… are you getting serious?”

“They ought to consider ending the fight. Continued fighting will only bring harm to them both.”

Noticing that the distant confrontation appeared to have momentarily ceased, the Jōnins tasked with overseeing the exam were somewhat confused.

Hizashi shook his head, “No… I don’t think they are stopping…” Suddenly his eyes widened, and he spoke, “Rather, they seem to be preparing for the decisive battle!”

The Jōnins were stunned, “What?”

They’ve already engaged in such a skirmish; wouldn’t that qualify as a definitive clash?

“That is…” As if sensing something amiss, Kakashi vanished from his spot and charged toward the Kumogakure and Amegakure’s battlefield without uttering a word. Might Guy, Asuma, Hizashi, Kurenai, and Shizune at his side followed suit without hesitation.

Kakashi and his companions took a gamble and stood atop the crown of intact towering trees at the edge of the battlefield.

This location was only a few hundred meters from the fray, placing them in a zone vulnerable to deflected attacks. Yet, given the unprecedented intensity of the battle, they had no choice but to venture closer, despite the risks.

At this distance, they could directly observe the situation on the battlefield with their naked eyes.

Suddenly, Guy pointed at someone on the battlefield, “Kakashi, look there!”

Kakashi nodded, “That’s… Darui of Kumogakure!”

In fact, there was no need for Guy to point out Darui at all. The eyes of all the Jōnins were locked on to him. The ‘Genin’ of Kumogakure was sticking out like a sore thumb because of the Black Lightning shrouding him.

“What kind of Lightning Jutsu is that?” asked Kurenai. She had never seen Black Lightning and it gave her a palpating feeling this far from Darui.

Kakashi answered with an unsure expression, “That should be Single Chakra Nature Transformation of Lightning Nature Chakra…”

Everyone was a little confused, “Single Chakra Nature Transformation of Lightning Nature Chakra? Is something like that even possible?”

Keeping his eyes focused on Darui, Kakashi explained, “This kind of thing is not easy, but it does exist. Steel Release, Crystal Release, Dark Release, Typhoon Release… these Kekkei Genkai are some examples of Single Chakra Nature Transformation of a Chakra Nature. One needs to be highly proficient to perform this. I have heard that Sandaime Raikage had also mastered a unique Black Lightning… and now that I see Darui using it, I guess that was true… For Darui to be able to master something like this… perhaps he is the most talented ninja when it comes to the Lightning Chakra Nature…”

“Even better than you?” asked Kurenai in surprise.
