"Then should we...?"

As Qin Hao spoke, he made a throat-slitting gesture. But before he could even finish the motion, Qin Chongming slapped him squarely on the back of the head.

"Idiot! Are you trying to make the Chu and Gu families join forces and turn on us? This Shen Nian... she is indeed a bit special. Go. Investigate her thoroughly for me. I especially want to know why the Gu family values her so much. But don’t you dare make any rash moves for now. Just investigate. Don’t do anything else!"

"I understand. I’ll get right on it."

Watching Qin Hao’s retreating back, Qin Chongming sighed. ’I once thought my eldest son had promise,’ he mused. ’But after seeing him today, it’s clear he’s no match for that young man from the Gu family.’

Qin Chongming clenched his fists, his expression turning colder.

’So what if the younger generation is talented? How many geniuses in this world have their lives cut short? No matter how brilliant they are, it’s all useless if they never get the chance to shine!’

’This world will ultimately belong to our Qin family!’

The Chu Family’s banquet was a great success. Even Chu Zhengwei, who should have gone to rest long ago, was still energetically seeing guests off at the door.

His spirits remained high even after all the other guests had departed.

"Dad, all the guests have left. You should go get some rest!"

"Who says all the guests are gone? Isn’t there still one left?"

Chu Zhengwei glanced ahead. Chu Deming followed his father’s gaze and saw Gu Hengzhi standing off to the side with Chu Yunze.

’He’s right, there is one guest left!’

Originally, Lu Cheng had been with them as well, but he was worried Shen Nian might be exhausted from the long evening, so he had already escorted her and Chu Lingxiu to rest.

Gu Hengzhi seemed to have overheard Chu Zhengwei and Chu Deming. Before they could call out to him, he walked right over.

"Hengzhi, thank you for all your trouble tonight!"

"It was no trouble. Actually, I stayed behind because I have a bold favor to ask."

After Gu Hengzhi spoke, three generations of the Chu Family all turned to look at him.

"Go on, tell us what it is."

Chu Zhengwei could tell that Gu Hengzhi was a very proud man. He wouldn’t make such a request unless it was absolutely necessary.

’But what matter of the Gu family’s could the Chu Family possibly help with?’

"Mr. Chu, you have recovered remarkably well."

"Yes, I’m indeed doing much better now. Even my old ailment of many years has..."

Chu Zhengwei trailed off mid-sentence. Looking at Gu Hengzhi, a faint suspicion began to form in his mind.

"Hengzhi, what are you implying?"

"You live up to your reputation, Mr. Chu. You understood my meaning from just a few words. That’s right. I was hoping to ask you, Mr. Chu, for an introduction to the Divine Doctor who treated your old ailment."

Gu Hengzhi’s use of the term "Divine Doctor" was no exaggeration. In his eyes, anyone who could treat Mr. Chu’s chronic condition to this extent had to possess extraordinary medical skills.

However, he wasn’t sure what their medical skills were like in other areas, aside from treating that particular chronic ailment.

But having finally found a glimmer of hope, Gu Hengzhi was unwilling to let it pass.

Hearing Gu Hengzhi’s words, Chu Zhengwei understood completely.

The Chu Family really couldn’t be of much help with the Gu family’s search for that person. After all, if the Gu family hadn’t been able to find them after so many years, it was unlikely the Chu Family could either.

But the Gu family currently had several sick members, and it was obvious that Gu Hengzhi’s request was aimed at getting treatment for them.

If the one who had treated him was truly some external Divine Doctor, Chu Zhengwei would have introduced them to Gu Hengzhi without a second thought. But the person was Shen Nian, and that forced him to be much more cautious.
