"Gu Hengzhi, are you speaking as the heir to the Gu family?"

Qin Hao looked at Gu Hengzhi and frowned.

He wasn’t surprised that Gu Hengzhi would appear here today. He wasn’t surprised that Gu Hengzhi was so respectful to Mr. Chu. He wasn’t even surprised that Gu Hengzhi was on good terms with Chu Yunze and Lu Cheng.

But for Gu Hengzhi to represent the Gu family and say something like that—that truly surprised him.

No one knew better than the Qin family what kind of family the Gu family was, and what their current situation entailed.

It was one thing for the Gu family, who had been lying low for so long, to suddenly start making public appearances with Gu Hengzhi as their representative. But now, they were actually sticking their necks out for a mere slip of a girl!

Qin Hao couldn’t help but steal a few more glances at Shen Nian, wondering what was so special about this woman. It was one thing for the Chu Family to value her, but now, even the Gu family was getting involved!

Qin Hao was astonished by Gu Hengzhi’s remark, but Gu Hengzhi himself showed no sign that he had said anything remarkable. His expression was as if he had just uttered the most ordinary of sentences.

Qin Hao glanced at the group before him, and after saying this, he turned and left, leaving the banquet for good.

His appearance today was merely to represent the Qin family and avoid seeming too discourteous. If he could take the opportunity to mock the Chu Family, all the better.

Gu Hengzhi said reassuringly, having noticed the worried look on Lu Cheng’s face. His earlier statement was also meant to intimidate the Qin family, making them hesitant to target Shen Nian again so easily.

After all, the Qin family didn’t yet dare to openly offend two great houses like the Chu Family and the Gu family.

Gu Hengzhi’s analysis was correct. When Qin Hao returned to the Qin residence and reported what had happened at the Chu Family’s banquet, he was viciously berated by Qin Chongming.

Qin Chongming was so angry he pointed a finger right at Qin Hao as he scolded him, his face clearly livid.

Seeing Qin Chongming’s reaction, Qin Hao knew that his actions today had been inappropriate.

"Father, it was my fault for being thoughtless. But when I see those people, I just can’t control myself."

"Even if you can’t control yourself, you have to for now. This isn’t the time to turn openly hostile."
