Old Madam Han became angrier when she saw Han Ziyan acting like an ostrich. Since she had the courage to do such a thing, she should at least have the guts to admit it. What was the point of hiding in such a manner? She raised her brows and looked at Han Ziyan. "You are doing such a good job in keeping our reputation upright. It’s bad enough that you snatched the fiancé of your sister, but now you are expecting without getting married. Go and ask the people in our village, who here dares to do such a thing? Who will look at our family without mockery in their eyes once the truth is out?"

Han Ziyan had difficulty speaking ever since the incident last time when everyone came to find out that she had seduced Han Ruochen’s fiancé; no one in the village had given her a good look for months. If they found out that she was carrying a child, then she was worried that the entire village would mock her to death. No one would dare to give her a good look.

However, she did not dare to agree. She could only lower her head and state, "Grandma, I am not—"

"Don’t you even dare to say that you are not pregnant. I am not someone you can fool with your little lies. Do you think that you can smile at my face and tell me your pretty little lies that you are not pregnant? Where do you think you are going with your lies?" Old Madam Han snorted coldly. "You have always been a troublesome little brat. Not to mention you have been scheming, little shit. Don’t think that you can fool me like you fooled my son. That brat is so simple-minded that even a five-year-old can fool him. Now tell me just who is the father of your child."

Han Ziyan sucked in a breath. She knew that Old Madam Han never liked her, but she never knew that the old hag disliked her this much. Look at this; she actually called her a scheming little brat. She just closed her eyes and pretended that she could not listen to a thing that Old Madam Han was saying to her. She lowered her head like a submissive deer.

When Old Madam Han saw her like this, she was even more furious.

Did she not understand what this girl was thinking? She was just thinking of dragging the matter out as much as possible. She closed her eyes before opening them again. Her expression had hardened even further as she said to Han Ziyan, "There is no point in dragging this matter any longer. I know that you want to wait for your mother, but things have already come to this point. What can your mother do?"

Han Ziyan’s heart jumped. She had a feeling that Old Madam Han’s words were laden with all kinds of meanings. She clenched her fists by her side and snapped her head up. "What...what do you mean?"

"What do you think?" Old Madam Han’s expression turned stern. "You have to marry the one who got you pregnant."

"NO!" Han Ziyan instinctively replied. She dropped all pretence that she was carrying at that very moment. She did not care about hiding the truth about her pregnancy anymore. Even though she had not checked it herself, she realised that she had missed more than two months of her aunt. If this was not a sign, then what was?

She did not want to marry Yang Jianming.

"What do you mean by no?" Second Aunt Han asked in disbelief. Her voice rose with each word.

Han Ziyan did not say anything.

Han Xuehan also turned to look at Han Ziyan in shock. "Ziyan, what is going on? What do you mean by saying that you don’t want to marry the father of this child?"

Han Yong pursed his lips and took the children outside; he had a feeling that this matter was going to escalate even more, and it was not something that the children should hear.

Han Ziyan hurriedly said, "Grandma, there is no need to waste too many words. I know what I am doing. No one knows that I am pregnant; as long as I clean this child, no one will find out the truth—"

When Old Madam Han heard this, she felt like she was going to have a heart attack. She clutched her chest and exclaimed, "You are an idiot! You think aborting a child is a simple matter? Where will you find the connections to abort this child? You also know that the times are sensitive right now; even if reform is happening, no one will take in such a case. Do you want someone to get hold of such a big handle on our family? What if one of my son’s business rivals finds out about this matter? Do you want to ruin our family?"

"You have to marry this man no matter what!"

"Who is getting married?" Meng Yunhan, who came over, heard her mother-in-law’s statement and turned to look at Han Xuehan and Han Ziyan. The second she saw tears in her precious daughter’s eyes, she knew that there was something wrong. She hurried over at once. "What happened, Ziyan? Why are you crying?"

She then turned to look at Han Xuehan and scolded her fiercely, "You! How can you bully your sister like this?"

She knew she could not blame Old Madam Han; she could only blame Han Xuehan.

"I am the one who was scolding her. Do you want to scold me as well?" Old Madam Han spoke in a cold voice. She knew that Meng Yunhan was scolding her by pointing at Han Xuehan. With her eyes narrowed, she questioned, "And is this how you have been dealing with the household matters? You did not even ask what happened and rushed to blame Xuehan."

"Mom, is there a need for me to even ask such a thing?" Meng Yunhan rolled her eyes as if she had heard a joke. "Ziyan is so naive and simple-minded. How can she do anything to make you mad?"

"This simple-minded daughter of yours is pregnant with a bastard."
