Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 619: It Has a Little to Do With You, Too
Fu Mingxue didn’t just take a shower; she washed her hair too.
She felt so much more refreshed.
After she blow-dried her hair, she heard her mother shout, "Food’s ready."
She walked over right away, overjoyed at the sight of the huge bowl of noodles on the table.
She sat down and took a bite. "Yep, nothing beats Mom’s cooking!"
A small smile played on Mrs. Fu’s lips.
"Eat this for now. We’ll have dinner in a little while."
"Alright." Fu Mingxue quickly finished the bowl of noodles.
"This is exactly what I was craving."
Those words successfully pleased Mrs. Fu, bringing a wide smile to her face.
"Does the Qin family have to visit the graves too?"
Fu Mingxue asked.
"Of course they do! What family doesn’t? Even back when it wasn’t allowed, people would still sneak off to do it. Now that the rules are much more relaxed, how could they not go? It’s good you’re back for it. You can go tomorrow."
"Alright." Fu Mingxue was fine with that.
"Oh, right, did you know that Wenhao’s older brother, Qin Wenze, divorced his wife?"
Her mother’s words left Fu Mingxue dumbfounded.
"What? He got divorced again?"
’She really had no idea about this.’
She had been so busy with her own work that she hadn’t made any calls recently.
She hadn’t even had a single phone call with Qin Wenhao!
Mrs. Fu nodded. "Yes. And speaking of which, this might have something to do with you—"
Fu Mingxue was stunned, then annoyed. "Mom, don’t just talk nonsense. What on earth does their divorce have to do with me?"
’I’m a world away from them.’
’There’s no way we’re connected. How could we be?’
"Don’t go pinning that kind of crap on your own daughter."
Mrs. Fu realized she had misspoken.
She quickly explained, "That’s not what I meant. Do you remember when you had Director Zhang deliver that tricycle?"
Fu Mingxue nodded. "I know. I called my mother-in-law and had her tell you. What does that have to do with them?"
’How on earth could a tricycle be connected to that couple?’
Fu Mingxue was completely baffled.
"The day the tricycle was delivered, your mother-in-law and I went into town. We happened to run into that Gao Lan. She went home and got into a big fight with Qin Wenze, and then not two days later, they got divorced."
Mrs. Fu had been shocked when she heard the news, too.
’Why would Gao Lan go home and start a fight just because of our tricycle?’
’Could she have thought the Qin family bought it? But her mother-in-law said that our Mingxue bought it herself, didn’t she?’
’So it’s true what they say about rivalries between sisters-in-law—they’ll fight over every little thing, down to the last bowl and chopstick. I thought that sort of thing only happened in the countryside.’
’I never thought city folk were like that, too.’
Fu Mingxue: ...?
She was speechless.
Truly and utterly speechless.
"Mom, please don’t drag me into it when you tell this story in the future. It’s very misleading."
’If people hear it like that, it’s like I’m being blamed for something that fell out of the clear blue sky.’
’I’m not about to be someone else’s scapegoat.’
’What the heck does someone else’s jealousy have to do with me?’
"—I know, I know. I just got ahead of myself."
At this, Fu Mingxue asked curiously, "Would that Gao Lan agree to a divorce so easily?"
’Gao Lan isn’t that stupid, is she?’
"They gave Gao Lan the house they were living in. And I heard from your mother-in-law that they gave her five thousand yuan, too!"
When Mrs. Fu heard the number five thousand, she too had been utterly shocked.
’The Qin family must be loaded.’
’To just be able to pull out five thousand yuan like it’s nothing...’
Hearing this, Fu Mingxue understood why Gao Lan had agreed.
’In this day and age, five thousand yuan really was a huge sum of money.’
’Still, she was smart enough to get the house and the money out of it.’
