Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man
Chapter 765 - 264: They Went Home
A mischievous glint flashed in Qin Mei’s eyes. She patted Jie Jingchen’s shoulder, looking at him with an expression of envy. "A home in Huaxia, a home in Xiangjiang... Jie Jingsi, you’re really something!"
Qin Mei then gave his shoulder a retaliatory squeeze. His muscles were so tight, it was hard to even pinch them, let alone squeeze.
Jie Jingchen froze as if he’d been electrocuted, his toned abs tightening.
Jie Jingchen took a breath and held her hand. A corner of his lips curved up as he gazed at her, his eyes shimmering and brilliant. "Whether in Huaxia or Xiangjiang, there’s only you."
Qin Mei stared at him blankly, meeting his exceptionally deep eyes. Her heart was bubbling with joy, but she still had to tease him. "They say time reveals a person’s heart. You can love a dish, but you’ll get tired of eating it every single day. One day, you’ll get sick of looking at me."
Jie Jingchen was a little speechless. Last night she had been all over him, and today she was questioning his love for her.
Jie Jingchen seriously suspected she had an ulterior motive. "You see me every day. Will you get tired of me?"
"Well... hehe..." Qin Mei gave a mischievous smile and began tracing circles on his chest with her other hand.
"Will you or won’t you?" Jie Jingchen pressed, not wanting to let it go. If he did, Qin Mei would take a mile if he gave an inch.
"Hard to say. What if one day your back injury gets worse and you can’t... you know... anymore? Jie Jingsi, don’t look at me like that. This is a very real problem. It’s like you got me used to eating meat, and then one day you suddenly tell me to give it up. I’m not a nun who’s been a vegetarian her whole life. I’d... hmm..."
Qin Mei’s endless stream of words was cut off by Jie Jingchen’s kiss, a punishment tinged with resentment.
Just when Qin Mei thought Jie Jingchen was about to ravish her, he did nothing more than kiss her, with no other indecent moves.
’?’ Qin Mei was full of questions.
’This isn’t normal. This isn’t like that bastard, Jie Jingchen.’ After the suffocating kiss ended, Jie Jingchen rested his forehead against hers, trying to calm the fire inside him.
But Qin Mei just had to say, "Looks like someone had their fill outside and now doesn’t have the energy for home."
Jie Jingchen’s eyes widened. He pinched her waist and said irritably, "I’m being considerate of you, you ungrateful little thing."
Qin Mei froze for a second. When she realized what Jie Jingchen meant, an alluring blush spread across her face.
’He’s not wrong. This is the price of overindulgence. Even though I soaked in that medicinal bath, I still need to rest. If we kept going, I’d really be wrecked.’
Even though she had misunderstood Jie Jingchen, Qin Mei had no intention of reflecting on it, much less compromising just because he was being thoughtful. Pushing the issue, she said, "As the saying goes, there’s only an exhausted ox, never a worn-out field."
Crude, but not wrong.
"Qin. Mei." Jie Jingchen ground out her name, word by word.
’She’s courting death. If you don’t look for trouble, you won’t find it.’
Qin Mei thought for a moment, a charming, flirtatious smile playing at the corners of her eyes, and continued to test Jie Jingchen’s limits. "Was I wrong?"
Jie Jingchen took a few deep breaths, forcing himself to calm down. ’Don’t be impulsive. Qin Mei is doing this on purpose. I can’t give in to my urges. If I really hurt her, I’d die from heartache and regret.’
Jie Jingchen shoved the towel into Qin Mei’s hands and said in a commanding tone, "Dry my hair for me."
Qin Mei held the towel Jie Jingchen had pushed into her hands, a little dumbfounded. ’Why isn’t this guy playing by the rules?’
’Forget it. I shouldn’t ask for trouble.’ Qin Mei knelt on the bed. "Turn around."
’Drying his hair face-to-face, with his breath on her chest, would be torture for her. And with her chest dangling in front of his eyes, it would be a challenge for him, too.
If he faced away from her, he could breathe easier, and his line of sight wouldn’t be blocked. It would be better for both of them.’
Jie Jingchen breathed a sigh of relief and turned around, waiting for Qin Mei to dry his hair. ’If I don’t give her something to do, she’ll just keep teasing me.’
Qin Mei noticed a dark bruise on Jie Jingchen’s lower back. Her almond eyes narrowed, and she reached out to pull at his shorts, wanting to see if the area hidden underneath was also injured.
"Meimei." Jie Jingchen sucked in a sharp breath. He grabbed her hand, the fire he had just suppressed flaring up again at her touch.
Qin Mei’s brow furrowed. Her voice turned a few degrees colder as she asked, "Did you get in a fight?"
Jie Jingchen’s breath caught. ’She’s worried about me.’ He was suddenly a little overwhelmed by the unexpected show of concern. Gripping Qin Mei’s hand, he urged, "Meimei, we’re in a hurry. Quickly, dry my hair."
Jie Jingchen had said "we’re in a hurry," not "I’m in a hurry." Qin Mei’s heart leaped with joy. She asked tentatively, "Where are you taking me?"
"Back to Huaxia." Jie Jingchen uttered three words.
In that instant, Qin Mei felt as if the clouds had parted to reveal the moon. ’Finally,’ she thought, ’I can go back to Huaxia.’
