"Xiao Mei, I’ve got it."

Qin Mei said nothing, just waved a hand at Xu Jiali, gesturing for her to try.

Dean Zhang and Li Mei, in a show of perfect coordination, stepped forward to help Gao Qiang up. He was unsteady on his feet, so they supported him until he was standing firm.

This time, it went smoothly. Xu Jiali relocated Gao Qiang’s jaw with ease. Li Mei and Dean Zhang exchanged a look of relief. Xu Jiali stared at her own hands in disbelief.

Doctor Wang was also stunned. ’She actually did it.’

The happiest person of all was Gao Qiang. He felt his chin. It was finally back in place. ’This is great.’ Looking at the equally excited Xu Jiali, he debated whether he should thank her.

But then he remembered her cruel torture just now. Qin Mei had been the one to dislocate his jaw; she should have been the one to fix it. "Jiali—"

"You’ve learned how to set a jaw. Now it’s time to learn how to dislocate one," Qin Mei reminded her. She didn’t need to specify whose.

Once again showing their tacit understanding, Dean Zhang and Li Mei let go of Gao Qiang and stepped away from him.

Xu Jiali rotated her wrists, looking at Gao Qiang, eager to give it a try.

Gao Qiang wasn’t an idiot. He quickly realized what was happening, and his eyes practically burst with fury. "Xu Jiali, you dare— MMPH MMPH MMPH..."

Gao Qiang’s face twisted into a ferocious grimace of pain. Xu Jiali had actually dislocated his jaw. It had just been set, only to be mercilessly unhinged by Xu Jiali again.

Gao Qiang wanted to escape, but he couldn’t.

Xu Jiali dislocated it, then set it. Set it, then dislocated it again. She practiced over and over, getting more and more into it. Gao Qiang begged for mercy on his knees, but Xu Jiali ignored him. Finally, Gao Qiang couldn’t take it anymore and passed out, but Xu Jiali still didn’t let him off.

Dean Zhang, Li Mei, and Doctor Wang watched the unconscious Gao Qiang lying on the floor with Xu Jiali sitting beside him. They were all worried Xu Jiali might torture the man to death, but none of them stepped forward to stop her.

Encouraged by glances from Dean Zhang and Doctor Wang, Li Mei sat down next to Qin Mei and asked humbly, "Xiao Mei, could you teach us this technique of yours?"

’She already taught Xu Jiali, so she probably won’t be stingy and refuse to teach me.’

Qin Mei looked at Li Mei and asked, "Aunt Li, you want to learn?"

Li Mei nodded, unable to hide her excitement.

"There’s no need," Qin Mei said.

Li Mei froze. ’Is she refusing to teach me?’

Qin Mei thought for a moment, then said bluntly, "I’m going back to Huaxia—"

"Back to Huaxia?" Dean Zhang lost his composure. He hadn’t even convinced Qin Mei to work for the hospital yet, how could she be going back to Huaxia? ’Wait, didn’t they come back to Xiangjiang to stay here from now on? Why is she still thinking of going back to Huaxia?’

It was too sudden. Dean Zhang was caught completely off guard.

Hearing Qin Mei say she was returning to Huaxia, Xu Jiali was also shocked. She dislocated Gao Qiang’s jaw one last time but didn’t set it back. She walked over to Qin Mei and stared at her pitifully.

Xu Jiali’s stare made Qin Mei’s scalp tingle. That accusing look was just like that of an abandoned puppy. "Auntie, don’t look at me like that."

"Xiao Mei, are you abandoning me?" Xu Jiali accused.

"Where did that come from?" Qin Mei felt wronged.

"You said you were going to treat me, but I’m not better yet, and you’re already leaving," Xu Jiali said, feeling aggrieved.

"For Western medicine, you have Uncle Zhang. For Chinese medicine, you have Aunt Li. It’s redundant for me to stay," Qin Mei said, pointing at Dean Zhang and Li Mei.

Li Mei understood now. Qin Mei had given her those prescriptions because she never planned on staying in Xiangjiang for long. For Xu Jiali’s treatment, Qin Mei had only participated in the surgery; she and Junior Brother Zhang had handled all the follow-up care.

"You can stay and give me psychological therapy," Xu Jiali said.

Qin Mei rolled her eyes and said irritably, "Psychological therapy? Come on, girl! You had a stomach problem, not a heart problem."

"I don’t care. Anyway, you can’t go," Xu Jiali whined.

Qin Mei stood up, stretched languidly, and when no one was looking, she bolted.

"..." Everyone was speechless.

When Xu Jiali realized what had happened, she immediately gave chase.

Dean Zhang was also about to run after them. No matter what, he had to try to persuade Qin Mei one more time.

"Junior Brother Zhang," Li Mei stopped him.

"Senior Sister, don’t stop me! She’s getting away," Dean Zhang said anxiously.

"My junior sister is her mother-in-law, and even she couldn’t convince her. What makes you so confident you can persuade her to come work at our hospital?" Li Mei asked.

"It’s different." Dean Zhang felt a little defeated. ’If my senior sister’s junior sister convinced her, she’d work at Huaxia Hospital. If I convince her, she’ll work at Xiangjiang Hospital.’

"Dean, what about him?" Doctor Wang spoke up, pointing at the unconscious Gao Qiang on the floor.

"Did you learn how?" Dean Zhang retorted.

Doctor Wang was speechless. ’Learn what? She never taught me a thing.’ "They’ve all left. What do we do with him?"

"What else can we do? Carry him to the treatment room, and you can keep trying to set his jaw," Dean Zhang said, his bad mood evident in his tone.

"I can’t do it," Doctor Wang said.

"Jiali couldn’t do it at first either. Just try a few more times and you’ll get it," Dean Zhang said, vexed.

Doctor Wang was completely speechless. ’Jiali couldn’t do it because Qin Mei was holding back. Once she stopped holding back, Jiali got it. If Qin Mei had taught Jiali from scratch, I might have been able to learn by watching. But she just gave her a few pointers, and Jiali understood immediately. How was I supposed to learn anything from that?’

In the car, Xu Jiali racked her brain trying to find a way to make Qin Mei stay, but Qin Mei remained unmoved.

Xu Jiali scratched her head in frustration. "Xiao Mei, didn’t you say you were going to make money with me? If you go back to Huaxia, how are we supposed to make money together?"

"You build up the business in Jiangxiang, and I’ll build it up in Huaxia." Qin Mei was just placating Xu Jiali. ’That kind of medicine would have no shortage of customers in Xiangjiang, but it would be difficult in Huaxia. The current Huaxia isn’t yet at the stage where the country is rich and its people are strong. Most are just happy to have enough food to eat and clothes to wear.’

"Xiao Mei..."

"Shut up. If you say one more word, I’ll use a needle to make you mute," Qin Mei threatened.

Xu Jiali was terrified. She clamped her hand over her mouth and scooted a little farther away from Qin Mei.

The car fell silent. Satisfied, Qin Mei leaned back against the seat and closed her eyes to rest.

Xu Jiali glared resentfully at Qin Mei. ’She’s too much, actually threatening me.’ Xu Jiali regretted leaving the hospital.

When her grandfather and grandmother got home, they spoke a few words to the butler and were about to head to the hospital again when Dean Zhang called. He told them that Jiali had been discharged. Her grandparents were very surprised. How could she be discharged, such a major event, without anyone consulting them?

Dean Zhang explained that it was Qin Mei’s decision. She had said that in Jiali’s current condition, she didn’t need to be hospitalized. She could recuperate at home, take her medicine on time, and just go to the hospital for regular check-ups.

Despite the short notice, her grandfather and grandmother still managed to arrange a simple welcome-home ceremony for Xu Jiali.

Led by her grandfather and grandmother, a group of people waited at the main gate.

The driver was sharp, stopping the car just outside the gate. He got out and respectfully opened the door for them.

"Welcome home, Miss Jiali! We’re so happy you’ve recovered!" At the butler’s lead, the crowd cheered in unison.

Xu Jiali was deeply moved and ran toward her grandmother.

"Slow down, don’t run!" her grandmother cried out, terrified.

"Auntie," Xu Jiali said, throwing her arms around her grandmother. She felt the joy of having survived an ordeal. She couldn’t imagine how heartbroken her auntie would have been if something had really happened to her.

"Alright now, Jiali was just discharged. Let’s not stand around at the gate. We can talk inside," her grandfather said with a smile.

Xu Jiali took her grandfather’s hand with one hand and her grandmother’s with the other, and walked ahead.

Qin Mei followed silently behind them. Watching Xu Jiali laughing and talking with her grandmother, with her grandfather occasionally chiming in, created a very heartwarming scene.

"Fourth Sister-in-law, thank you," Jie Jingshan said, linking her arm with Qin Mei’s.

"We’re family. Saying thank you is too formal." Qin Mei smiled at Jie Jingshan.

Jie Jingshan was taken aback for a second, then said with a wide smile, "Alright, I won’t say it again."

"Jing Shan, are you homesick?" Qin Mei asked.

Jie Jingshan lowered her head, nervously fiddling with her fingers, and didn’t answer Qin Mei’s question.
