Chapter 754 - 260: Jing Qi, Are You Homesick?

  • Next Chapter

A doctor’s duty is to heal the sick and save lives. Now that Gao Qiang was at the hospital, he couldn’t possibly turn him away or let him suffer. It would be a violation of medical ethics.

Li Mei said nothing, simply pulling Doctor Wang to stand aside with her.

"Oh?" Qin Mei cooed, a mischievous smile spreading across her bewitching face. She turned to Xu Jiali and said, "Auntie, you do it."

"Me?" Xu Jiali pointed to herself, staring at Qin Mei in shock. ’She has to be kidding.’

"Didn’t you say you learned how?" The moment they had entered the dean’s office, Qin Mei had held nothing back in teaching the technique to Xu Jiali.

Xu Jiali already had some basic knowledge and even knew how to dislocate a jaw. However, the technique Qin Mei taught her was rather unique. She didn’t get it after hearing it once or twice, but with Qin Mei’s incredible patience, Xu Jiali felt she had finally grasped the key points. ’If I can just practice on a few people,’ she thought, ’I’m sure I can master it.’

It dawned on Xu Jiali in an instant. Qin Mei wanted her to use Gao Qiang as a test subject.

"But..." Xu Jiali hesitated. It wasn’t that she felt sorry for Gao Qiang, but she lacked confidence. She hadn’t even practiced the dislocation part yet, and now she was being told to jump straight to resetting one. ’There’s a huge difference between theory and practice.’

"No ’buts.’ Reset his jaw," Qin Mei urged.

Xu Jiali swallowed hard. "Xiao Mei, why don’t you do it? I can watch and learn."

Qin Mei shot a disgusted look at the drooling Gao Qiang, then asked in a dead serious tone, "Did you understand what I taught you?"

"I understood," Xu Jiali nodded. She understood the theory, yes, but when it came to actually doing it, she still had no confidence.

"If you understood, then get to it." Qin Mei gave Xu Jiali an encouraging little fist pump. "Auntie, believe in yourself. You can do this."

"I’m... scared..." Xu Jiali stammered. ’She says I can do this, but I can’t! I really can’t, okay?’

"Scared of what?" Qin Mei’s brow furrowed. She was losing her patience. ’What a perfect opportunity to torture an ex to death. What’s there to hesitate about? Just get in there and make him suffer!’

Xu Jiali took a deep breath and said weakly, "I’m afraid I’ll fail."

"Failure is the mother of success." Qin Mei pushed Xu Jiali in front of Gao Qiang. "He’s been served up to you on a silver platter, and now you’re backing down? Isn’t torturing an ex supposed to be the greatest joy? Unless... you still have feelings for him. Maybe you’re hoping to cool down and get back together later."

"I don’t!" Xu Jiali denied it at once.

"If you don’t, then get to it. Torture him to your heart’s conten— COUGH COUGH! I mean, a doctor’s heart is full of compassion. Go on and reset his jaw properly." In front of the three doctors, Qin Mei wasn’t about to completely reveal her true colors.

Xu Jiali gritted her teeth, steeled herself, and actually tried to reset Gao Qiang’s jaw. Whether it was due to nerves or not, she just couldn’t get it back in place. Gao Qiang trembled in agony, unable to curse, managing only muffled whimpers. After several attempts, Xu Jiali was exhausted and drenched in sweat, while Gao Qiang was a wreck, covered in a cold sweat of his own.

The initial hope in the eyes of Dean Zhang and the other two doctors slowly gave way to disappointment and regret.

They watched as Xu Jiali’s movements, which had started out cautious, gradually lost their patience and grew rougher. It was brutal. They could almost feel his pain themselves.

The depth of their past love was now matched only by the intensity of their hatred.

After a breakup, if you can’t be friends, you can only be enemies. And to fall into an enemy’s hands meant being utterly and completely destroyed.

"Xiao Mei, I can’t do it anymore. My hands are exhausted," Xu Jiali said, shaking out her sore hands. Resetting a jaw was hard work, especially when it wasn’t popping back into place.

Gao Qiang’s legs gave out, and he collapsed to the floor. The hatred in his eyes was gone, replaced only by a sincere plea for mercy.

’He was wrong. He shouldn’t have walked right into this trap. Xu Jiali was too heartless; while torturing him, she showed no regard for their past relationship whatsoever.’

"Mmmph, mmmph," Gao Qiang whimpered through his nose, begging for her to stop.

Qin Mei tilted her head, pondering for a moment. Suddenly, she snapped her fingers with a look of dawning realization. "Oh, dear! When I was teaching you, I forgot a step."

"..." Everyone was speechless.

’Are you sure that wasn’t on purpose?’ they all thought.

Gao Qiang felt like dying. ’Qin Mei just wants to torture me to death!’

"Look at me, so careless." Qin Mei reflected on her "mistake" for a second with zero sincerity. Then, relying on the tiny, unextinguished shred of conscience she had left, she taught the full technique to Xu Jiali, holding nothing back this time.

Xu Jiali took a moment to absorb the new information, practicing the motion with her slender fingers several times. Qin Mei sat on the sofa, waiting patiently.

"Jiali, have you got it?" Dean Zhang couldn’t help but ask in a low voice.

"Don’t bother her," Li Mei said, tugging on Dean Zhang’s arm.

Dean Zhang immediately fell silent. Doctor Wang, who had never witnessed Qin Mei’s medical skills, felt that staying any longer was a complete waste of time. Just as he was trying to think of an excuse to leave, Xu Jiali’s face lit up with excitement as she spoke.
