Rebirth: Saving the Lovely Girl from the Start
Chapter 521 - 347: Lin Ruoxi’s Level (2)
Phones at the time didn’t have widespread fast charging yet. The adapters they came with were only five watts, but his power bank was even compatible with the iPad’s charging protocol and could activate a phone’s hidden high-power, safe charging mode.
Jiang Yuan took the power bank dubiously. She suddenly became curious about it. ’Is charging a phone really that complicated?’
Xue Rui frowned and stared at Jiang Yuan. He was very unhappy with her. The vice class monitor was actually deducting points from the class monitor!
He’d had a few points deducted recently. Jiang Yuan’s justification was, "The class monitor is setting an example by skipping class. If I don’t deduct points, it’ll be hard to quell the public outrage."
Even though she had a point, he still felt a knot of displeasure in his stomach. It brought back the "hellish memories" of getting caught in his past life.
’Who’s the class monitor here, anyway?’
’Also, Jiang Yuan likes me?’
’How come I haven’t noticed at all? Isn’t she just a tigress?’
Xue Rui figured Lin Ruoxi had been duped. Jiang Yuan was probably just messing with her.
"Why aren’t you cheering?" Xue Rui shot back.
Jiang Yuan lifted her head, looking stunned. "What would I cheer?"
Xue Rui jutted his chin in Du Miaomiao’s direction.
Jiang Yuan recalled what had just happened. Du Miaomiao had cheered, "Long live the class monitor!"...
She shot Xue Rui a furious glare and shoved the power bank into his arms. "You wish! After the National Day holiday, have Lin Ruoxi hand in her course exemption application. Otherwise, it’ll be hard for me to handle."
Blindsided by her response, he casually tossed the power bank back. "Use it or don’t."
The heavy power bank landed on Jiang Yuan’s chest, bounced off, and clattered to the ground. With a pained expression, Jiang Yuan clutched her chest.
Xue Rui gulped and hurriedly apologized, "Sorry, I didn’t mean to."
The hair on his arms stood on end. ’I tossed it so gently, anyone should have been able to catch it, right?’
’Why were you spacing out?’
Jiang Yuan shot Xue Rui another furious glare, picked up the power bank, and left without a backward glance...
Qian Huabiao sidled up to Xue Rui, nudged his shoulder, and asked in a low voice, "Old Xue, I saw the whole thing. How’d it feel?"
"You bastard, stop trying to frame me. I was at least half a meter away from her."
"Still, you’ve got guts, messing with the tigress like that."
"Great, there go all my points," Xue Rui said, palming his forehead. He had really pissed Jiang Yuan off this time.
He often skipped class because he was busy, and always without getting permission beforehand.
At this rate, his "moral education points" would probably be zeroed out by next week...
Then he’d get called in for a talk with the secretary.
’Well... Secretary Li was an old acquaintance, anyway.’
But even though Xue Rui could handle it himself, it was still a huge headache. Being targeted like this really sucked!
After a while, the bus arrived for the Software Engineering 141 class. Students boarded one by one to embark on their National Day holiday trips, leaving only a few people lingering at the school gate.
Xue Rui and Qian Huabiao were squatting by the side of the road as students with backpacks streamed past them.
"They’re all heading off to get hotel rooms," Qian Huabiao remarked, clicking his tongue.
"Heh." Xue Rui chuckled and said nothing. People laugh when they’re rendered truly speechless. Just a few days ago, that guy Qian Huabiao had been complaining in the dorm that all the hotels were fully booked; now, he saw everyone as if they were heading off to get a room.
Qian Huabiao had lined up dates with three girls for the National Day holiday. He’d booked a room for six days and, goddamn it, he was being fair about it too—two days with each girl, giving everyone equal attention...
"You’re just jealous," Qian Huabiao sneered.
Lin Ruoxi had been a ghost for almost a month since the semester started, and Xue Rui often hung out and played games with them in the dorm. They were all as close as could be, and his verbal sparring with Xue Rui was practically a daily routine.
A while back, he had tried to subtly probe Xue Rui, ’Did you crash and burn?’
Xue Rui didn’t give a direct answer, which, in Qian Huabiao’s eyes, was a tacit admission.
Qian Huabiao couldn’t stop the corners of his lips from turning up. Xue Rui’s two girlfriends were in a league of their own; anyone would have trouble handling them. After all, Gu Muxue rode to school in a Maybach...
And yet, he was successfully juggling three girlfriends, while Xue Rui had tried to juggle two and ended up doing the splits.
Purely by the numbers, he was far superior to Xue Rui.
"Want your bro to teach you a few tricks? For instance, before I go out, I always change my phone’s wallpaper to a photo of whichever girl I’m meeting. That way, they..."
Xue Rui spat on the ground. "Scumbag. Why the hell would I learn that?"
He had genuine feelings for both Lin Ruoxi and Gu Muxue, but Qian Huabiao clearly thought with a different organ than he did.
Besides, there was no basis for comparison. Every time Qian Huabiao went on a date, they’d split the bill—with Qian Huabiao covering the "A" part...
Qian Huabiao patted Xue Rui’s shoulder and said in a grave, heartfelt tone, "I know it’s tough getting dumped by two hotties at once, but don’t be so bummed out. If you’re up for it, your buddy can introduce you to a few?"
Xue Rui’s eyelid twitched. He mimicked Qian Huabiao’s signature move, tugging at his sleeves to reveal the Rolex second-generation Green Water Ghost on his wrist. Clasping his hands together, he said:
"Yeah, introduce me to a few. I’m not that demanding. As long as they’re like Muxue and can gift me a watch, I’m good."
The girl had given it to him for his birthday this year. He didn’t know the exact price, but he figured it was at least a hundred thousand, which must have cost her a good chunk of her lucky money...
Xue Rui had never actually worn it at school, though. It wasn’t that he was trying to be modest, but a classic Rolex was so eye-catching that a college student wearing one would most likely be seen as a poser with a fake.
But today was special. Lin Ruoxi had promised to take him to see Gu Muxue during the holiday, so he had to wear this watch...
Qian Huabiao’s eyes went wide. He grabbed Xue Rui’s wrist for a closer look, then audibly sucked in a sharp breath. "HISS..."
The corner of Xue Rui’s mouth curled up. Qian Huabiao knew his stuff.
Xue Rui pulled his hand back. Looking at Qian Huabiao, he laughed and shot back, "So, hurry up and introduce your buddy to a few. Don’t play dumb. I know you’ve got plenty of girls on the hook."
Qian Huabiao’s expression soured. He usually relied on the Longines gold watch on his wrist to hook girls, but it turned out a hidden whale had been lurking right beside him, completely unassuming, only to suddenly land a critical hit!
