Rebirth: Saving the Lovely Girl from the Start

Chapter 362 287: Can't Let Her Get Away

Lin Ruoxi found it very strange. She had also joined the university's main group chat, but for some reason, no one ever responded whenever she spoke.

She spoke up, "Rui, why does no one reply to me when I talk in the group chat?"

Xue Rui looked slightly puzzled. 'That shouldn't be happening, should it?'

The computer science department also had far more men than women. While the ratio wasn't as skewed as in some other departments, girls were still a hot commodity. It was definitely not normal for one to be ignored.

He picked up Lin Ruoxi's phone, opened the QQ interface to take a look, and instantly understood...

The little lass had activated all sorts of flashy "Diamond" VIP features, but she hadn't changed her screen name or profile picture. She was still using QQ's default retro girl avatar, which gave off the vibe of a forty- or fifty-year-old female professor.

The freshmen didn't want to chat with someone so seemingly uninteresting, and the upperclassmen were afraid she was a teacher. Of course she was going to be ignored.

In reality, if the little lass just changed her picture to a selfie, a whole pack of simps would probably swarm her immediately.

"What did you want to talk to them about?" Xue Rui asked curiously. It was rare for the little lass to have such a strong desire to communicate; this was a good change.

"Um, I wanted to ask how big the beds in the men's dorms are," Lin Ruoxi said softly.

"..." Xue Rui sighed in resignation. 'So it was all for my sake again.'

He figured the little lass was planning to buy him things, but the other girl had already bought him bedding, and the mattress was even custom-made.

He wasn't sure if he should tell Lin Ruoxi, but on second thought, he decided he might as well. She would find out later anyway. "Muxue already bought them for me, along with some skincare products like sunscreen."

Lin Ruoxi pressed her lips together. 'Gu Muxue really cares about Xue Rui, too.'

'That set of skincare products from their last driving practice was also a gift from Gu Muxue...'

"Oh, then I won't buy them," Lin Ruoxi said with a smile.

"I'll buy them for you," Xue Rui said, shaking his head. 'How could I be the only one getting things?'

"The university will provide them."

"The ones from the university are poor quality."

"Um, if other people can sleep on them, so can I."

Lin Ruoxi carried the two bowls of broken-up *mo* bread to the service window.

Xue Rui's expression was blank. 'So Lin Ruoxi knew the university provided bedding?'

'Why does this girl only ever think of him?'

'That other girl got a set for herself, too, but this little lass only thinks about him, as if she'd accept anything for herself.'

'This guilt-tripping is just too much! This little lass is so cunning!'

"Yu Minlan, go put some pressure on the kitchen staff," Xue Rui said with a smile.

Yu Minlan nodded emphatically. She was already starving. She walked toward the kitchen, shouting at the top of her lungs, "Hurry it up, boss! I'm gonna stand right here and watch you cook."

After they finished eating, Xue Rui dragged Lin Ruoxi to buy a new set of bedding. Although it wasn't as nice as the custom-made one from the other girl, it was still far better quality than what the university provided.

When they got back to the school gate, Xue Rui retrieved the luggage he had left with the security guard.

By now, Yu Minlan's car was piled high with things, so the two of them had to walk onto campus. Unlike Jiao University's old campus, the new campus of the University of Posts and Telecommunications was huge, and it was a long walk to the registration area.

Lin Ruoxi wore sunglasses, carrying a bottle of mineral water for Xue Rui in her left hand and holding an umbrella over him with her right. From behind her shades, her eyes curiously scanned the various campus buildings.

Lin Ruoxi's aura was so powerful she looked exactly like a cool and aloof upperclassman, so no one approached them asking if they wanted to sign up for any student cards.

Of course, Lin Ruoxi's long legs still attracted the attention of many male students. Some even secretly took pictures...

"Excuse me, senior, do you know where the supermarket is?" a female student asked as she walked up to them.

Lin Ruoxi stopped and said patiently, "Um, head north, and after you pass the athletic field, go west for two hundred meters, then continue north..."

The student scratched her head in embarrassment. "S-Senior... which way is north?"

"..." Xue Rui pinched the bridge of his nose. 'The amount of information in this conversation is just staggering!'

'Lin Ruoxi has never been here before, so how is she so familiar with the place?'

'And this other student can't even tell east from west...'

Lin Ruoxi gestured and pointed for a while with the female student. In the end, it was hard to tell if she had understood, but she left with a profusion of thanks.

"How are you so familiar with this place?" Xue Rui asked.

"I looked up information beforehand and memorized the school's bird's-eye view map," Lin Ruoxi said.

"Alright, fine. Next time you give directions, don't use north, south, east, and west. College students can't tell them apart."

Lin Ruoxi's mouth fell slightly agape, expressing her surprise. She murmured, "College students don't know? Even the people in my village know that."

Xue Rui didn't know how to explain it to the little lass, so he just gave a vague reply. "They're two different things. This sort of stuff doesn't have much to do with how much you've studied."

"Oh, okay. College students can't tell directions," Lin Ruoxi replied obediently. She thought whatever Xue Rui said was right.

Xue Rui was speechless. Now Lin Ruoxi had one more stereotype about college students.

The two of them slowly made their way to the registration hall. The place was still a sea of people, but most of the tasks had been handed over to student volunteers, with teachers supervising from the side.

A few teachers were in an empty spot off to the side, drinking water and chatting idly.

"Our department has this year's top scorer from the college entrance exams. It's a girl," a female teacher said.

"From which province?"

"Forget province, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call her the national top scorer."

"With a score that high, she came to our school?"

"I bet she won't even show up. Someone like that either filled out their application wrong or did it out of spite. They're bound to regret it afterward."

Xue Rui glanced at the little lass. 'Well, look who's here.'

He handed the little lass's admission notice to that teacher, then took off her sunglasses.

"Professor, were you talking about her?"
