Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1423: You’re Welcome
Yang Run Tai knew the little girl’s habits. "Just take us straight there."
This time it was Yang Run Tai directly introducing Jiang Feifei.
Actually, there were already quite a lot of paintings in Feifei’s space, and of course some of them were much better than these pieces in Yang Run Tai’s collection.
But the richness of his collection was something Jiang Feifei couldn’t compare with.
"Feifei, just pick out anything you like."
Yang Run Tai wanted to see whether she could pick out the best few pieces.
By the time they finished it was already past eleven, and all the good pieces in here had been picked out by Jiang Feifei.
Yang Run Tai was excited inside. This was exactly how it should be.
"Feifei, you really made me see you in a new light."
Jiang Feifei’s heart gave a jolt. Damn, she’d forgotten he was a black sesame rice ball.
"Really? I just think these are pretty good. Master Shang taught me about this stuff."
Yang Run Tai just smiled. How could he not know what this girl was thinking?
"Alright, let’s go pay. It’s already almost twelve."
It was the same person as yesterday, and he didn’t open his lion’s mouth. Twelve calligraphies and paintings only cost twelve hundred.
Jiang Feifei was a bit surprised. All this for so little; he really hadn’t asked for much.
But she still accepted it with a smile.
"Feifei, let’s go eat."
"Let’s send the paintings back home first."
"That’s in the opposite direction. We’ll leave them here for now. We’ll pick them up after we eat."
The vegetarian meal actually suited Feifei’s taste quite well.
"How is it?"
"Mm, tasty. I think these steamed buns are really well made."
"Maybe they were practicing their internal skills while kneading the dough."
"Mm. You can do that too?"
Looking at the adorable little girl, Yang Run Tai burst out laughing. This girl was just too cute.
"Brother Yang, I’m staying home this afternoon to drink soup; Sister Jing Chu is going to cook."
Yang Run Tai had expected that, which was why when she said she wanted to go home to deliver books earlier, he’d turned her down.
"Mm, I have to go out once this afternoon too. I’ll bring you something good when I get back.
Someone’s coming to deliver goods this afternoon. I’ll go over first to pick out a few things."
Feifei didn’t care about anything except paintings and books, so she just nodded.
Actually, Yang Run Tai wanted to hook the little girl into coming along with him, but she wouldn’t bite.
"That person’s family used to have a Grand Academician. I don’t know if there are any good books or paintings. I don’t know much about those. Do you want to come with me and take a look?"
With the little girl, it was better to be straightforward.
Jiang Feifei frowned. "Brother Yang, that place probably isn’t very safe, right?"
"It’s fine, it’s a familiar place. The person’s a familiar face too."
Jiang Feifei was really tempted. That feeling of treasure hunting was more satisfying than what she’d just done at the shop today.
But she also didn’t want to be with Yang Run Tai all the time. She had an instinctive wariness toward him.
Yang Run Tai watched the little girl struggling with herself. It was quite entertaining.
"Feifei, actually there are often people like this coming to sell things here, it’s just that the last few weren’t very famous. But today’s seller inherited everything from his ancestors."
Feifei was so hooked her heart itched. "Brother Yang, would it be convenient for you to take me along?"
"Of course it’s convenient. Let me tell you, besides books and paintings he definitely has other good stuff. I heard his family has quite a few imperial edicts. I just don’t know if he’ll bring them this time."
"Then I’ll trouble you, Brother Yang. But I should still go home and say something, so they don’t worry."
"Such a well-behaved girl."
Jiang Feifei stared at Yang Run Tai, full of black lines. Why did he sound like an old father?
The two of them finished eating and even had a bowl of rice soup. It was actually pretty good.
At noon it was just Chaoyang and Jing Chu, the two of them sweet and lovey-dovey.
Chaoyang loved this time best. He could sneak kisses from his wife. At this stage, boys were still very innocent; being able to kiss his girl already felt like the happiest thing in the world.
The two were just about to rest when they heard a knock at the door.
"Brother Chaoyang, I still have to go out once this afternoon."
"Feifei, you must be careful."
"Mm, got it. Don’t worry, I definitely won’t let myself fall into danger."
"How about Jing Chu and I go with you?"
Jiang Feifei turned her head and looked at Yang Run Tai.
He actually didn’t want that. But when he saw the look in the little girl’s eyes, he still nodded.
"Chaoyang, you have to bring more money. There are a lot of good things today."
"Okay, I’ll go call Jing Chu right now."
"I’m going too. Jing Chu and I need to wear masks and hats."
One reason was they were too pretty and needed to cover up; another was they didn’t want to be seen.
Chaoyang also went back to get money. He had over a thousand on him now, all salary and bonuses. He brought it all, planning to buy good things for Jing Chu if he saw any.
The four of them set out. To be honest, both girls were a little nervous—that kind of excited nervousness.
Yang Run Tai brought the three of them over. They weren’t given a hard time here and were let in directly.
They were all after different things. Yang Run Tai had already told Chaoyang they could move around freely. It was very safe inside, plus Jing Chu was wrapped up so tightly there was no need to worry about anyone harboring bad intentions.
So once they went in, the four of them split up. Yang Run Tai grabbed Feifei’s hand and led her forward.
Feifei tried to shake him off once, but when she didn’t manage it she just let him hold her.
These two areas weren’t together. The section for books and paintings was quieter than outside, with far fewer people.
From the moment she entered, Feifei felt like her eyes weren’t enough.
"Let’s get the stuff from that guy first, we can take our time looking at these later."
Yang Run Tai was just saying this when the little girl suddenly shook off his hand, and he saw her run straight over to a stall.
It was just an ordinary portrait. But the girl was staring at it intently.
"How much is this painting?"
"Fifty, non-negotiable."
"Wrap it up for me."
The little girl’s reaction was clearly off after she saw the painting. "Let’s go, it’s yours now. We’ll keep looking when we get back."
Jiang Feifei only snapped out of her shock then. It was this painting—she had this piece in her previous collection. It was definitely the same one, because there were actually words hidden in the woman’s hair.
Almost everyone would overlook them.
But why would it appear here? This was supposed to have been passed down in the family.
"Focus. There are a lot of good things." Yang Run Tai squeezed the little girl’s hand a bit.
"Mm, I’m fine now. I just thought that painting was really good."
Yang Run Tai neither agreed nor disagreed. He really hadn’t seen what was good about it. But if she said it was good, then it was good.
The stall he’d mentioned had several people crowded in front of it, all sorts of types.
As soon as the two of them came over, those people immediately made way for them. Jiang Feifei could tell these people knew Yang Run Tai and were all pretty afraid of him.
