Tristan hurried and snuck into the restroom of the court; there, he stacked the two stools he had brought against one another and balanced on the legs; he reached his hands to a portion of the vent he had long since displaced in preparation for this night.

Pushing that part apart, Tristan held onto the edge and pulled himself up into it. With the same urgency, he began to crawl through the vent on all fours, as fast as he could go, heading in the direction of the outer school grounds. Good thing most mechanical systems had gone out of order at this point. Still, it took Tristan several days to make all this preparation.

[Private Chat]

Sister: Where are you?. Hurry; we gotta go. A mutant swarm is forming quickly... not sure how long we can hold on.

I am almost there.

While Tristan was hastening his pace through the vent, back on the basketball court, a spiky-haired young man who at first had also been triggered by the chaos outside suddenly found that someone was missing from their group.

Spike began to urgently look around for Tristan. Marcus had given him an order, and no one enjoys the consequences of failing Marcus. Besides, now that they were so low on cannon fodder, Tristan, who always miraculously makes it back alive, was that more important as a bait.

"Where the hell did that trash go?"

Spike urgently moved around the court, but after checking for a while, Tristan wasn’t there. It was weird that he would choose to use the bathroom when all this chaos was going on outside, but there was nowhere else to check, so Spike went inside the restroom, and his eyes nearly bulged out of his skull as he ran as quickly as he could to Marcus, who was standing with a group in the court, in the middle of making plans to see how to take advantage of what was going on out there.

"Hey...hey Marcus..... That trash...."

"That trash...Tristan...."

"That fucker has made a run for it!"

Spike announced as the group of four ran together to the restroom where two stools were still stacked.

"What do we do?. I think he’s probably going to ask whoever is out there for help." One of the guys deduced.

"He will probably be chewed up the moment he leaves the vent."

"Didn’t you say he was acting strangely before this, chief? Maybe those people out there have something to do with him."

Marcus was silent for a moment before suddenly speaking—

"Hold the stools for me. I am going after him."

Tristan was quickly making his way through the ventilation shaft; he needed to arrive at the designated location quickly, and as he followed the loud mutant roars, he finally arrived at the planned place to meet, but as he crawled through the shaft, he began to hear some heavy thrumming movements that couldn’t be his own.

Looking back, he caught a horrifying sight that caused a shiver to run down his spine. Marcus had nearly caught up to him; his big frame literally disfiguring the metal around him as he forced his way after Tristan.

"Fuck!.....how is this possible!"

Tristan exclaimed as he hastened his pace; he had taken all the careful measures to make sure his plan wasn’t discovered. And was under the believe that even if they do later find out he had escaped; they would simply let him go to his death.

"Why the hell are you following me?!. Why can’t you fucking let me go?!" he yelled as he trudged faster through the vent.

"I knew you were up to something, you little rat. Those guys are here for you, right?. Take me along, or no one is leaving, keke"

"This... you fucker!"

Tristan instantly realized that Marcus had figured out the plan; there was no longer any need for words; now all that mattered was haste.

With that thought, Tristan finally broke out from the side of the college complex building; right here was where he had planned to meet his sister. There as SUV was revving and driving all over the place; people he didn’t know were fighting and butchering mutants like something out of Scifi movie; where he landed, his sister, an a scary looking gorgeous lady with knife were in the midst of fighting mutants surrounded by a pile of mutant corpses.

"What are you lying there for, Tris!....run to the car!" Hazel yelled to Tristan from his disorientation as he ran towards the SUV; everyone else began retreating towards the vehicle as they slaughtered more mutants, with a one-handed man inside the vehicle sniping targets with scary precision and dropping mutants like flies.

"Hurry, hurry!.... Move, move, move!" Everyone piled into the vehicle urgently; the engines revved to life as the combatants took position, doling out suppression fire and butchering stragglers. As the vehicle was about to run through for the exit, a scream came from the side, where a giant young man was pummeling mutant skulls that tried to hang on him with their bare hands but quickly sustained injuries as he ran with increasing speed toward the vehicle, almost catching up.

"HEY...WAIT FOR ME!. TAKE ME WITH YOU, I AM TRISTAN’S FRIEND!"

Before anyone could deliberate on the sudden appearance of this person, Tristan quickly yelled back.

"Drive, drive, drive; please don’t stop; he’s very dangerous!!"

Seeing the urgency in Tristan’s voice and expression; Sage stepped on the gas; speeding out of their as they laid waste to the mutants; but the scary thing was; the giant young man was still barreling towards them; and because of the swarm of mutants; the vehicle could only go so fast so as not to straight into mutants and casue it do be damaged.

"Fuck!. He’s gaining on us!" Sage spat in worry. He could tell that person was bad news. There was even a growing smirk on his face, seeing he was just about to reach the vehicle.

From the front passenger seat, Harvey calmly asked Tristan without looking back and continuing to snipe the mutants blocking the path.

"How much of a bad news is he ?"

Tristan didn’t think much before answering. "The very worst."

With that, Harvey turned his pistol from the front and aimed it at the back where Marcus already had his hand on the vehicle. Seeing the pistol pointed in his direction, the young man’s face grew pale, as he urgently wanted to say—

"WAI...."

But it was too late.
