Rebate King: Every Beauty I Spoil Makes Me a Billionaire
Chapter 474: Ordinary
After returning home, Stan remained seated inside the Audi for a while, making no immediate attempt to get out.
The engine had already been turned off, leaving the interior unusually quiet after the noise and movement of the city outside. Through the windshield and side windows, the evening streets continued to bustle with activity.
Cars passed along the roads in steady streams, their headlights sweeping across the pavement, while the countless lights illuminating the surrounding buildings turned the city into a vast landscape of artificial brilliance.
People moved along the sidewalks in groups or alone, most of them carrying strange rectangular devices in their hands and occasionally lowering their heads to stare at glowing screens.
To Stan, none of it was particularly noteworthy. He had lived on Earth long enough that the sights had become completely ordinary to him. To Camilla, however, almost everything outside that vehicle remained fascinating.
She sat quietly in the passenger seat, her gaze fixed on the world beyond the window as she tried to take in everything she had seen since arriving on Earth.
Camilla had spent most of her existence in the New Terra Realm, and her understanding of civilization had been shaped by an entirely different world.
Ancient castles stood alongside magnificent cultivation sects, powerful bloodline clans controlled territories that ordinary people could scarcely imagine, and magical artifacts were often regarded as necessities rather than curiosities. Even the occasional technological relic left behind from older eras was treated as something mysterious and valuable.
Earth was fundamentally different. Humanity had developed along a completely separate path, one that had allowed ordinary humans to construct an extraordinarily advanced civilization without relying on cultivation or spiritual energy.
During her time here, Camilla had learned just how far that development had gone. Humans had created enormous machines capable of crossing entire oceans within hours, constructed towering cities filled with millions of people, and developed communication systems that allowed individuals on opposite sides of the planet to speak to each other almost instantaneously.
They had built aircraft that carried people through the skies without requiring wings or spiritual energy, vehicles that could travel across vast distances without beasts pulling them, and countless machines that performed tasks that would have once required cultivators or magical artifacts. Even something as simple as the lights illuminating the streets had fascinated her. Entire cities could be bathed in brilliant illumination without a single strand of spiritual energy being consumed.
Yet perhaps the strangest thing of all was the people themselves.
For all of Earth’s technological achievements, the overwhelming majority of its inhabitants were still ordinary humans. They could not sense Qi, manipulate spiritual energy, refine their bodies through cultivation, or perceive the countless supernatural forces that existed beyond their world. They lived ordinary lives, went to work, attended schools, purchased food, worried about money, formed relationships, raised families, and eventually grew old without ever realizing that civilizations far beyond Earth existed.
Most of them had no idea that there existed beings capable of moving mountains, traversing space, or living for centuries. They were completely unaware that the universe was far larger and stranger than anything their current civilization could comprehend.
Camilla had initially found that ignorance almost impossible to understand. Coming from the New Terra Realm, where powerful cultivators and supernatural beings were an accepted part of reality, the idea of an entire planet being populated primarily by ordinary humans seemed almost absurd.
Yet after spending more time on Earth, she had gradually begun to see the appeal of it. There was something strangely peaceful about a civilization where most people could simply live their lives without constantly worrying about cultivation resources, bloodline conflicts, sect rivalries, territorial disputes, or powerful beings deciding their fate.
She slowly lowered her gaze, her fingers resting quietly against her knee. She did not particularly want to admit what had been going through her mind since arriving on Earth. She had enjoyed herself. More than she had expected. The realization was somewhat embarrassing, especially considering how skeptical she had been when Stan first brought her here. She had expected Earth to be little more than an interesting curiosity, a primitive world with unusual technology that she would eventually grow tired of. Instead, she had found herself fascinated by things that were almost embarrassingly simple.
The food had been strange compared to what she was accustomed to, but she had discovered that much of it was surprisingly delicious. The technology continued to capture her attention, particularly the countless devices humans used so casually that they barely seemed to notice them anymore. Even watching ordinary people interact with one another had become unexpectedly entertaining. There were no grand cultivation techniques involved, no bloodline abilities being displayed, and no spiritual pressure hanging over every interaction. People simply talked, laughed, argued, joked, worked, and went about their lives. There was an ordinary simplicity to it that Camilla had gradually found herself appreciating.
And then there was Stan.
Camilla turned her head slightly and looked at him.
She knew better than anyone that beneath his relaxed expression was an existence whose capabilities remained difficult for her to comprehend.
Nevertheless, something about the time she had spent with him had changed the way she perceived him. She had come to terms that he was the mysterious cultivator who could manipulate spatial laws with casual ease, and she couldnt even sense a spatial fluctation the few times he had done that back in Antarctica, he’s the only man whose strength and origins remained difficult to determine, and the person who had dragged her into circumstances far beyond anything she had anticipated.
While she’ve come in terms with that, she still feels conflicted when looking at him, like right now where he simply looked like a normal person..
Almost like an ordinary new age human. Almost.
Camilla’s lips curved faintly at the thought. Of course, calling Stan ordinary was ridiculous. She had personally witnessed enough of his abilities to know that there was nothing ordinary about him.
Still, there was something strangely comfortable about seeing him behave this way.
