RE: LORD OF TIME
Chapter 229: Eve’s Abnormality (Part 2)
(You have killed a Minor Fire Spirit.)
William looked at the notification that flashed before him and raised an eyebrow.
’A Minor Fire Spirit...’ He muttered inwardly before shifting his attention to the solid object left behind in his hand after the Fire Spirit died.
Taking a closer look, William found that it was a round core about the size of a candy. The core was deep orange in color, with faint flames flickering inside.
He could even feel a faint trace of fire-elemental energy emanating from it, though the amount was very small.
William focused on the core, and its information appeared before him.
---) Core of a Minor Fire Spirit: A core containing the energy of a Fire Spirit after its death. If placed in an environment rich in fire energy, there is a probability that it will give birth to another Fire Spirit.
He read the information and was surprised to learn that another Fire Spirit could be born from this core.
’If this core were placed in this volcanic region, it might really be possible to create another Fire Spirit through it...’ William thought before shaking his head.
’But my current priority is something else.’
His hands were suddenly ignited with crimson-red flames as Vermilion Fire engulfed the core, devouring it within seconds.
William felt its growth, but upon noticing that there was barely any change, he sighed.
"With the amount of energy in a Minor Fire Spirit’s core, I would need to feed tens of thousands of these cores to Vermilion Fire before it could sprout from its seed state."
Looking around, William noticed a few more Minor Fire Spirits in the surrounding area.
However, their numbers were small, and even if he killed all of them, their cores would amount to nothing more than a drop in the ocean compared to the energy Vermilion Fire needed.
’Since there are Minor Fire Spirits here, it’s also possible that there are higher-level spirits as well...’ William turned his attention toward the deeper part of the mountain range, his gaze fixed on the tall volcano ahead.
’Actually, Elemental Spirits aren’t very rare...’ Eva’s voice suddenly sounded in his mind. ’As long as the right conditions are met, Elemental Spirits can be born in environments rich in elemental energy. One of the most important conditions for their birth is the presence of rare elemental treasures that they can feed on. And since there are Fire Spirits here, there’s a very high possibility that a fire-elemental treasure exists in this volcanic region.’
William listened to Eva’s explanation, and his eyes couldn’t help but light up.
’Can I use this fire-elemental treasure to feed my Vermilion Fire?’
’It should be possible...’ Eva responded. ’Even if it’s not a fire-elemental metal or ore, but something like a fire-elemental herb or something similar, you can still feed it to your fire. Although its effect won’t be as good as that of metals and ores, it should still be enough to help your Vermilion Fire sprout from its seed state, as long as the treasure is of sufficient quality.’
’I see...’ William nodded in understanding at Eva’s words and, without hesitation, flapped his wings, shooting toward the tall volcano.
According to Eva, the treasure she mentioned was highly likely to be near or even inside the volcano, as such treasures often appeared in areas with the highest concentration of energy.
And the highest concentration of energy was undoubtedly around the volcano’s center.
As William flew closer to the volcano, he noticed that the gravity was also increasing.
The gravity in the Trial Realm was already three times that of the Vermilion Realm, and now it was increasing even further.
When he was about five kilometers away from the volcano, the gravity had already reached five times that of the Vermilion Realm, making him feel uncomfortable due to the sudden change.
William glanced at Eve in his arms and couldn’t help but feel stunned when he saw that she looked completely fine, as if the increased gravity had no effect on her.
"Eve, are you feeling uncomfortable?" Just to be sure, he asked her.
"Dadda?" Eve looked at him in confusion, not understanding what he meant.
William patiently explained his question to her, and a few seconds later, she finally understood what he was asking.
In response, she shook her head and even puffed out her chest, showing that she was completely fine.
’Strange...’ William couldn’t help but frown slightly, as he couldn’t understand why she was completely unaffected.
’Could it be that her body is very powerful?’
Thinking for a moment, William couldn’t help pinching her arm slightly.
As soon as he pinched her arm—
"Eak!" Eve let out a strange scream and looked at him with a baffled expression, rubbing her arm.
William was taken aback by her scream, and seeing her tearful eyes, as if she were about to cry, he felt awkward and immediately apologized.
’So her body isn’t strong...’ He rubbed his chin with a thoughtful look but still couldn’t figure out why she was unaffected by the increased gravity.
As William got closer and closer to the volcano, the gravity continued to increase. By the time he reached the base of the tall volcano, the gravity had already reached ten times that of the Vermilion Realm.
Even with his strong body, William couldn’t fly very high under such gravity and was forced to descend, continuing on foot toward the summit.
Some Fire Spirits attacked him while he was making his way up the mountain, but he easily killed them and collected over twenty cores.
Suddenly, William noticed another abnormality and stopped for a moment.
"Eve, stay still for a moment," He said to Eve, who remained unaffected by the gravity, before moving away from her.
"Dadda?" Eve looked at him in confusion, remaining where she was.
William stopped about ten meters away from her and looked at the Fire Spirits approaching them.
Soon, the spirits noticed them and immediately rushed toward them.
William looked at the incoming spirits with narrowed eyes.
As the spirits reached Eve, they didn’t even glance at her, as if they couldn’t see her, and charged straight toward William.
’Just as I thought, even these spirits are ignoring her.’
William killed the spirits coming toward him and looked at Eve with a thoughtful expression.
Another thing he had overlooked earlier was the temperature in this area.
The temperature here was already over 90°C.
Earlier, he had been protecting her from the heat using his Aether Energy, but he had stopped doing so when he moved away from her just now.
Yet, even without his protection, the temperature didn’t affect her in the slightest.
’What the hell is going on? Is there something wrong with this place, or is there something abnormal about Eve?’
William’s mind raced as he tried to figure out what was happening.
ROAR!
Just as he was thinking, a loud roar suddenly erupted from the top of the volcano, making him jolt.
William quickly turned his gaze toward the summit of the volcano, and his eyes widened slightly.
"Is that... a human?"
