RE: LORD OF TIME
Chapter 211: Behemoth
(The Night has fallen)
(Night Crawlers will begin to move soon)
William frowned when he saw the notifications that suddenly appeared before him.
"Night Crawlers..." He muttered under his breath and looked at the sky.
The little bit of light had completely disappeared, and with no stars in the sky, the entire world had plunged into endless darkness.
If it wasn’t because of his vampire bloodline that allowed him to easily see even in the darkness, William felt he wouldn’t even have been able to see his hand.
"What a strange place. The light disappeared almost instantly, as if someone had blown out a lamp."
William extended his senses to the extreme, as he was still unclear about what Night Crawlers were.
But from their name, he didn’t think they were anything good.
Shaking his head, he looked at the dilapidated stone houses and huts around him.
"It seems this village had been abandoned long ago," William speculated as he touched the rough stone of a hut, finding it filled with cracks.
There were no doors in most of the houses, only an open entrance that directly led inside. Some of the houses had a giant stone placed in front of the entrance, blocking anyone’s entry.
William first went inside a stone hut with an open entrance. But other than some pebbles and a lot of dust, he did not find anything inside.
He frowned when he didn’t find anything useful and went to a different house.
But its situation was the same, and other than an extra stone platform, there was nothing here as well.
"Is the primary resource for making things here stone?" William muttered after he checked out a few more places.
Every house he went into had nothing important within it. Other than some things made of stone, which were very old and completely useless, he did not find anything.
Soon, William came before one of the houses whose entrance was blocked by a giant boulder.
William placed his hand against the boulder, and the muscles in his arms bulged as he tried to push it away.
Rumble!
The giant boulder, which weighed a few tons made a rumbling sound amid the silent darkness and slowly slid to the side.
In just a few seconds, William pushed the boulder away from the entrance, revealing an entrance similar to the other houses.
Taking a deep breath, William stepped inside the house, and his eyes immediately narrowed.
"Finally, something different..." He said and moved forward, his eyes fixed on a few skeletons that were sprawled across the floor.
Coming closer, William noticed there were four skeletons.
Three of them seemed similar to humans. But among the three, one was quite big.
William estimated the owner of this skeleton was at least three and a half meters tall.
The other two human skeletons were normal, with nothing special about them.
Despite the giant humanoid skeleton, what caught William’s attention most was the fourth skeleton.
It wasn’t the skeleton of a human, but of a monster or a beast instead.
Its body seemed similar to a lizard, with a goat-like skull and a long tail at its back. It was almost six meters long.
William squatted beside the three humanoid skeletons and saw marks of dried blood that had almost faded in this harsh environment with the passage of time.
"Were these people trapped inside the house along with this monster?" He couldn’t help but think as he remembered the giant boulder that had blocked the entrance.
William looked around at the walls of the house and saw some deep marks of nails and attacks on them.
He turned his head slightly, and seeing the long nails on the monster’s skeleton, he was certain the marks on the walls had been made by it. Possibly trying to get out after being trapped inside.
"Night Crawlers..." William suddenly thought of the notifications he had received earlier, and his eyes narrowed. "Could this monster be that so-called Night Crawler?"
William stood up and touched the walls of the house.
"It’s not impossible for me to break the walls of this house and leave." William nodded, and considering the monster was trapped inside and wasn’t able to leave, William estimated his strength should be higher than the monster when it was alive.
It made William sigh in relief, as this also gave him a general idea about the strength of Night Crawlers.
Although it was still uncertain if this guy was really a Night Crawler, if his guess was true, then it meant not all the Night Crawlers were stronger than him.
He was at least not a bottom feeder.
William looked around the house, but other than the skeletons, there was nothing inside.
Shaking his head, he was about to leave when he suddenly thought of something and walked back to the skeletons sprawled on the floor.
A thin layer of Aether Energy covered his palms, and he moved away the bones of the skeletons, looking at them carefully.
Although it seemed the skeletons had been in the room for a very long time, most of them were still preserved in good condition and did not break at William’s contact.
He first searched the humanoid skeletons but did not find anything.
Shaking his head, he carefully searched the skeleton of the monster.
As he turned over the skeleton of the monster, William’s eyes narrowed slightly as he saw something stuck in the bones of its lower ribs.
Stretching out his hand, he pulled out the item and found it was actually a pendant.
William was just about to take a careful look at the pendant when suddenly—
ROAR!
A loud roar that pierced through the silence of the night echoed throughout the world.
William’s ears buzzed from the loud roar, and he immediately jumped to his feet.
Without wasting even a second, he quickly came out of the house and looked in the direction of the roar in the distance.
And as he looked, his eyes widened in shock as he saw a tall, mountain-sized creature that looked like a bull roaring towards the sky, its deep red eyes appearing extremely threatening amid the darkness that covered the world.
