Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1618: Don’t Pretend to Be Pitiful Around Me, I Don’t Care
"You child, if I’m going to do it, then I’ll do it."
Sophia Wood didn’t bother to say much to Lily Turner and picked up her phone, dialing Easton Holmes.
The call had barely gone through when Easton Holmes answered, "Mom! Is there something you need?"
"Bring the kids over when you come by tonight. Alice and Thomas just registered their marriage today, and we’re having a family gathering to celebrate." Since Lily Turner hadn’t shared the happy news with Easton Holmes earlier, Sophia Wood took it upon herself to tell her son-in-law.
Easton Holmes had assumed after hanging up with Lily Turner earlier that Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher were just back from Derry Kingdom and would be joining the family for dinner as a welcome home. She hadn’t thought of them registering their marriage.
"Sure! I’ll bring the kids over later." Since it was a good friend getting married, he had to prepare a big red envelope; otherwise, his wife would make him drink cold water.
"I won’t keep you any longer then, talk to you later."
Sophia Wood hung up the call. After ending the call, she noticed Lily Turner had been staring at her the whole time, with a look that seemed reproachful. "Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something wrong just now?"
She believed she hadn’t said a single incorrect word, but why was this girl looking at her like that?
"Why did you tell him everything so clearly? I was waiting to make him drink cold water." Lily Turner said she wanted to make Easton Holmes drink cold water, but she had never actually considered doing that to her husband. She just wanted to see if he truly understood what she meant.
If he didn’t understand and didn’t bring a red envelope, she wouldn’t go home with him tonight, letting him stay lonely at home—she’d take this chance to have a good rest. But all of this was ruined by one call from her mom.
Could she not resent her mom?
Sophia Wood didn’t know Lily Turner’s true thoughts and genuinely believed she meant what she said about making Easton Holmes drink cold water. Annoyed, she raised her hand to give Lily a slap, "You reckless girl, you only act wildly because Easton spoils you."
Act wildly!? When had she ever acted wildly? Where did her mom see her acting wildly?
Lily Turner now really wanted to find a tofu block to bang her head against. Was this the legend of mothers-in-law looking at their daughters’ husbands and becoming more pleased the more they look?
In a few days, would she have no status in her mom’s heart, and his would soar?
Given the way things were going, this possibility was very high; she better prepare to become the insignificant little cabbage.
"Mom! Am I really not your biological daughter?"
To suit the mood, she pulled out her ultimate skill and performed a pitiful act.
But the pitiful act she put on was completely ignored by her mom, "Don’t pretend to be pitiful with me, I can’t stand it."
With that, she got up and left the living room, leaving her biological daughter behind as she went to the kitchen.
She knew it would turn out this way!
Lily Turner sighed gloomily and grabbed the remote on the coffee table, beginning to change channels in search of a happier program to lighten her mood.
Ding dong! Ding dong! Ding dong!
Upon hearing the doorbell, Lily Turner’s first thought was that Alice Turner and Thomas Fisher were back. She quickly put down the remote and ran to open the door.
"Aunt Autumn!"
The person at the door was not her sister and brother-in-law but her brother-in-law’s mother, Autumn York, whose face looked quite unpleasant.
Lily Turner wasn’t sure what had happened, and she cautiously gazed at the stern-faced Autumn York.
