Chapter 1519: An Empty Stomach Makes the Brain Short-Circuit

  • Next Chapter

Alice Turner and Anthony drove with Grace Young to the designated restaurant, where Benjamin Shaw had been waiting in the private room on the second floor for quite some time. Seeing the three of them walk in together, a gleam of excitement quickly flashed in his eyes.

He originally thought Alice Turner would stubbornly refuse to come, but what he didn’t expect was that she not only came with the two of them, but her expression hadn’t turned that unpleasant, and her demeanor appeared completely normal.

On the surface, Alice Turner indeed looked normal, but inside, she was far from it. In her heart, she cursed Benjamin Shaw as a bastard.

She hated being threatened by others, and that feeling of helplessness was even worse.

"Mr. Shaw! You’re here early."

Anthony was the first to walk over to Benjamin Shaw, striding over with a smile and greeting him, having completely forgotten about the other two.

Tch!

Grace Young inwardly tch’d at Anthony in dissatisfaction, but outwardly, she dared not display any displeasure, as a mere assistant like her dared not have any opinions against the young master.

Benjamin Shaw stood up from his seat and greeted Anthony, "I haven’t been here long either."

What he claimed as not long had actually been over half an hour.

"Please, have a seat, everyone sit down."

Benjamin Shaw raised his right hand and pointed at the chairs around the dining table, signaling for the three who had just entered to sit down, his eyes particularly fixed on Alice Turner.

Alice Turner deliberately didn’t look towards Benjamin Shaw, pulling Grace Young to sit at a seat further away from him. Only after sitting down did she slowly lift her head to look in his direction.

Benjamin Shaw initially thought Alice Turner would continue not to look at him, but as he stared at her unblinkingly, she suddenly lifted her head to meet his gaze, causing him to instinctively freeze.

"Mr. Shaw! Should we talk directly, or eat first and then discuss?" Anthony suddenly spoke, redirecting Benjamin Shaw’s attention away from Alice Turner.

"Let’s eat a bit first."

Benjamin Shaw replied to Anthony and then turned his head towards the private room door, "Waiter! Ordering!"

Just as he spoke, a waiter pushed the door open and walked in, proceeding to place the tablet in his hand in front of Benjamin Shaw.

Benjamin Shaw picked up the tablet placed by the waiter on the table and quickly tapped a few of the restaurant’s specialty dishes.

"You guys order a few more," he said as he placed the tablet back on the table, giving it a gentle turn until it reached Alice Turner.

Five years ago, when he was with her, they didn’t spend much time together; he knew nothing about her preferences and regretted it deeply now.

If he had known he would fall for her, five years ago he certainly would have spent more time with her.

If he had spent more time with her back then, perhaps he would have realized he had fallen for her much sooner, and wouldn’t be regretting it now.

Alice Turner was neither pretentious nor polite with Benjamin Shaw, picking up the tablet that had been turned to her. She held the tablet and began ordering dishes with Grace Young sitting beside her.

After finishing the order, Alice Turner directly handed the tablet back to the waiter and did not give it to Anthony, knowing his culinary preferences, she made decisions on his behalf.

As the waiter began to serve the dishes, Alice Turner took out her laptop from the laptop bag, opened it, and started discussing the cooperation with Benjamin Shaw, "Mr. Shaw! We..."

"I think everyone is hungry now, let’s eat first and then discuss these matters. It’s easy for one’s mind to short-circuit when hungry," Benjamin Shaw interrupted her decisively just as Alice Turner started speaking about cooperation when she had taken out her laptop.
