Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 356: Ch 355: A Date with Lyra
Kael had a hard time completing the experiment on time, but he somehow made it happen. And the look of relief on the assistant’s face when he was told that they could go home almost made Kael feel guilty for not helping out beforehand.
Still, the experiments were progressing faster than expected, and with a lot of mana supply in the market, it meant that Kael could take things a little easier.
It was finally time for him to head home, and he opened the door of the research lab, only to see that he had an escort.
Lyra was standing in front of him with a grin on her face. And from the looks of it, she was here alone as well.
"Kael, are you done for the day? If so, then I am going to invite you out. Here, this is for you—"
She handed Kael a small bouquet of flowers, but they were not traditional flowers. In fact, he was sure the flowers he had in his hands were from the demon world, and they were toxic...
But the look of pure joy and concentration on Lyra’s face told him that it had not been intentional on her part.
She had likely just found the flowers pretty and decided to bring them over, which was just like her.
Anyway, Kael decided to take the flowers before he looked at Lyra’s attire. She was dressed in a hoodie and jeans while her head was covered by a cap. She looked just like a young adult, blending into this world.
For some reason, Kael could not help but find it funny that she had such an easy time while everyone else seemed to be finding it hard to blend in with modern times.
"Tsk, what are you laughing at? Is it that funny that I am asking you out? How many times will you make me do this before you are satisfied?"
Lyra asked, and Kael stopped laughing and looked at her. She was right.
He should be giving her an answer by now, not keep laughing at her all this time. As for her offer...
"Alright, we can go out on a date. I don’t have anything else to do right now anyway."
Kael assured her, and Lyra stood there, frozen in shock. Her eyes told Kael that she had not expected him to accept her invitation, much less agree to go out with her. But she was thankful nonetheless that he had.
She blinked a few times before she spoke again.
"Right... alright! So, let’s go... somewhere..."
It was clear that she had asked him out but had not expected Kael to say yes to her. And now she was having a hard time keeping track of what she wanted to do.
Kael allowed her to flounder for a little longer before he decided to save her.
"Have you had dinner yet? If not, then want to go to a sushi restaurant not too far from here? I heard they serve good sushi... or well, used to. But I never got a chance to go there before."
That was because Kael had been broke even while working. Plus, he had also always been alone, and going to a date spot alone did not sit well with him.
But now he had company who looked happy to go with him. So he finally decided to make his way to the sushi restaurant.
...
The line for the wait to get inside the restaurant was not long, and it did not take any time before they were seated.
Actually, it was a miracle that this place had even been open and that there were still customers around. Most people had started hoarding money and resources, citing that the end of the world was near.
But things had started to return to normal by now, which was a good thing.
Kael looked at his nervous partner, who seemed to not be able to keep her eyes on anything, and thus, her eyes looked nervous.
"Lyra, there is no need to feel nervous. We are just at a sushi bar, and there is nothing to be afraid of. If you are unsure of what to get, then do you want me to order for you?"
Kael asked Lyra, who blinked up at him cutely... not that she seemed to be aware that she was doing it.
"I... don’t know what to get. This is my first time in such a place."
"It is also my first time. But as I said, it is nothing special. Just think of it as any other dinner appointment."
Kael told her, but the look Lyra gave him told him that it would be impossible for her to treat it just like ’any other’ dinner appointment. She was in front of someone she liked.
He also realised it as soon as he had spoken, but he pretended he had not noticed. That helped Lyra save face as well for now.
Kael decided to order the sushi that he thought Lyra might like while she tried her best to calm her nerves down, and the sushi came back quickly.
It was a nice blend of flavours that Kael had seldom gotten to eat, but it was good. And from the look that Lyra was giving him, she found it tasty as well.
In fact, she found it so tasty that she ordered a second, a third... and even a tenth.
Kael knew that Lyra could eat a lot, but he had not expected her to eat that much. And he almost wanted to cry when he saw the bill that he had acquired.
Luckily, he had a decent salary now, so there was no way he would go broke over that bill. With this, he felt like he had finally stepped into a world he was not supposed to.
But Lyra’s smile felt well worth every dollar he had spent at the sushi place tonight, and he reached out to grab her hand and pull her up.
"So, want to take a walk now?"
