Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 334: Ch 333: A New Awakening
Somewhere in the world, a ripping sound was heard before space split apart, and dungeons began to appear in the middle of cities, forests, and even remote villages.
The first few people who witnessed the phenomenon could only stare in confusion as the air twisted in front of them, revealing dark entrances that seemed to lead into endless underground spaces.
Unfortunately, their confusion did not last long.
A monstrous roar echoed from one of the newly formed dungeons, followed by the sound of something heavy crashing against the ground.
Before anyone could react, a group of creatures rushed out of the entrance, their bodies covered in strange scales and their eyes glowing with an unnatural light.
People screamed and tried to run, but the monsters were far too fast.
Within seconds, the peaceful street had turned into a scene of chaos, with cars crashing into one another and people being knocked to the ground as they desperately tried to escape.
One man attempted to fight back with a metal pipe, only to have the weapon torn from his hands before the monster threw him into a nearby wall. Another woman managed to drag her child behind a vehicle, but the creature’s claws struck the car hard enough to send it rolling across the road.
The world had no time to understand what was happening before the first casualties appeared.
Then, just as another monster raised its claws, a blue, floating screen suddenly appeared in front of the terrified man lying on the ground.
[World System has been activated.]
[Mana density has increased.]
[Dungeon entrances have been detected.]
[Awakening process initiated.]
The man stared at the words, unable to understand what they meant, but the moment he reached out and touched the screen, something inside his body suddenly erupted.
A powerful shockwave spread through the street, throwing the monster backwards and shattering the windows of the surrounding buildings. The man rose slowly from the ground, his injuries beginning to heal as a strange blue light surrounded his body.
[Congratulations. You have awakened.]
[Class: Guardian.]
[Unique Ability acquired: Defensive Barrier.]
The man looked down at his hands, his breathing uneven as he struggled to comprehend what had just happened.
But before he could say anything, another scream echoed from the other side of the street.
More blue screens appeared, one after another, in front of people who had been cornered, injured, or simply desperate enough to reach out toward them.
Some awakened with weapons in their hands, while others gained the ability to manipulate fire, control water, strengthen their bodies, or heal wounds that should have been fatal. A few collapsed from the sudden change, unable to control the power flowing through their veins.
And while the monsters continued to emerge from the dungeons, the people of Earth finally began to fight back.
The world that had existed yesterday was gone, replaced by something entirely unfamiliar.
...
And in his office, Kael sprang up with his eyes wide open and looked outside. He could sense a strong stench of mana in the air that he had not noticed before in this world.
It was clear to him that this world had started to change and head in a different direction. But he was not sure what it meant yet.
"Darn it! Looks like trouble has found its way to us no matter what. I’d better go and check what is happening."
He let out a sigh as he dragged himself outside and checked for mana in his surroundings. He did not expect to see much, but when he looked outside, he could see a lot of blue lights heading toward the sky.
Those lights were all mana signatures, but they did not belong to humans.
Rather, the mana was a little more divine in nature, indicating that it was the doing of a god.
But why would a god interfere in the human world like this? Weren’t they beings that chose to remain outside of human conflicts? In fact, the gods could even be punished for interfering in human affairs, like Goddess Aria.
Unless...
"Did something truly change this world in a fundamental way? But the only thing that can do that is..."
World magic.
Kael could not help but marvel at the miracle that had happened.
People lived for millennia without ever seeing world magic being cast. But not only had Kael seen two instances of it in his life, he had even cast one himself.
And now, another instance of world magic was being cast in this world. But what did that mean for him and this world? And more importantly, what had it done?
Kael was busy thinking about this when his phone started to ring. He looked down at the name being displayed on his screen and let out a sigh.
The caller was Officer Tyson, but he had expected this much.
"Kael, what is going on? Do you have any idea?"
Officer Tyson asked in an urgent voice that startled Kael. He had initially thought that the officer was calling him to inform him about what was happening, not asking him this question.
"Kael, answer me quickly."
The officer was getting impatient now, and Kael let out a sigh before looking outside as well.
"I don’t know what’s happening either. I might be able to find out if I get a chance to check things out. It will take some time, but it’s doable."
Kael assured Officer Tyson. He also felt the increase in the mana around him, which made him feel better as well.
But before Officer Tyson could respond, a deafening roar echoed through the city, followed by a sudden tremor that shook the greenhouse. Kael’s expression immediately turned serious as he looked toward the distant blue lights, while the mana in the air continued to thicken around him.
"Kael, what was that?"
"I don’t know yet. But I will find out in a few seconds. I will be cutting the call now."
Kael replied, already reaching for his coat to head out. Everyone else was asleep and he intended to finish this before they woke up.
