Raising Yanderes to save the world
Chapter 333: Ch 332: Leaving for a New World
The portal was large enough for only one person to head out at a time, and it was shrinking rapidly.
"Hurry up and get out. We cannot keep it open with this lack of mana in this world."
Leon yelled from the other side, causing everyone to jump into action. Iris was the first one through because of her muscle mass, followed by Kael and Seraphina. Lyra almost did not make it across, so she had to turn into her small beast form to fit through.
The dimension they were in finally collapsed behind her, causing Kael to let out a regretful sigh of relief.
Finally, they were safe on this side. But it still felt like the danger was close by. He kept looking around, expecting the goddess to spring forward from any side. But she was gone for good this time.
"Ugh, we finally made it. Thank God. But now what? Do we... go home?"
Lyra asked as she looked around the modern world. Unfortunately, her words held a lot of weight.
No one in this clearing except Kael was actually from this dimension anymore, and there was no telling what their presence could do to this space.
At best, the changes would be minor. But at worst, the very fabric of this dimension could change to accommodate their presence.
Kael had no answer for this, since there had never been a record of this happening. But he still felt a little optimistic about everything.
The town filled with flowers was shining in the night light, but the sun was starting to rise on the horizon. Finally, they were free...
...
Unfortunately, it was Kael’s misconception to think that he was free. But that could not have been further from the truth.
As soon as his feet touched his greenhouse, Officer Tyson was there, and he had a list of things he needed Kael to finish.
It included reports that he had to write, along with summons he had to appear in and even articles that he had to read and prepare answers for.
And the worst part? It was all legal and necessary hassle that he could not get out of.
So, despite the fact that Kael’s body felt like it was breaking, he fell slave to capitalism and got back to work.
His companions looked at him with sorry expressions, but there was little they could do to actually help him with any of his work. He had to finish it all alone.
"Well, let’s get this over with. I am sure it will not be that hard..."
He muttered as he got to work. But by the time he was finished with his report of the accident and had re-read it to edit it, the day was over.
There was a pile of plates beside Kael that he did not recall being there before. But he also vaguely recalled someone feeding him all of this while he was unconsciously working.
"I must have been much more tired than I expected to not even recall being fed. But let’s think about this later. Luckily, I have only one report left to finish for today..."
But the problems did not stop there.
Once Kael was done with the report, the next problem began—housing.
He could keep the group with him for now, but they would eventually need their own places and privacy. More importantly, they would need jobs in the real world. They could not keep relying on him for everything.
"Ugh, the responsibilities keep piling up. At this rate, I will never be able to retire."
"You are complaining? Think about me, who has to clean up your messes. When will I retire?"
Officer Tyson complained as soon as he smashed the door open. He looked equally as tired as Kael felt, which made Kael feel a little guilty.
After all, he was partially the reason Officer Tyson looked like this.
cough
"Anyway, we can discuss that later. For now, I want to know what has been decided. Is the Earth safe now?"
Kael was interested in knowing about the changes that had occurred because of what he did.
He could have looked into it himself, but he felt too tired to use magic. Besides, with the corruption gone, using magic would likely become much more difficult. So he wanted to preserve his strength.
But the deepening frown on Officer Tyson’s face told Kael that not everything was as it was supposed to be. Something seemed to have gone wrong somewhere.
"Officer Tyson, did something happen?"
Kael asked in a low voice, and the officer let out a sigh of regret.
"Well, something did happen. In fact, a lot happened during the time you were working. The most important thing is that this Earth is no longer the same one it was yesterday."
Those words sounded ominous, but Kael was not sure what they meant.
"What do you mean that this Earth is no longer the same one from yesterday? It’s not as if the Earth can change—"
"But it happened. The very essence of this Earth changed in an instant. We are still trying to find out what it means. Hopefully, it means we are in for peaceful days ahead..."
Those sounded like ominous words, making Kael chuckle nervously.
"I am sure it will be fine. After all, the world is steadily heading toward stability, right? The biggest threat is gone, and we are all safe."
Kael pointed this out, and Officer Tyson let out a sigh of relief.
"You are right. And I do hope that everything remains alright in the future as well. But I have a feeling..."
The man paused before trailing off without saying anything else. But the worry in his eyes was real, and it was enough to make Kael worry as well.
Was this Earth... truly in danger, just as Officer Tyson was predicting? Or was it all a coincidence caused by the circumstances happening around them?
Kael fervently hoped it was the first option and not the second one.
