’I cannot go back like this. I have a mission to complete. If I fail, then I will fall out of my master’s favor and lose my name.’

The slave sent to Kensen’s house to seduce Aiden and then kill him suddenly looked nervous.

She knew she had a great figure and features enchanting enough to even bewitch her master and other people in this village. That was why she was the only one who was given a name and allowed to do whatever she wanted.

Honey actually thought her life would follow this trend until her master finally freed her and married her. No, she did not even want to be free. As long as she could marry her master and get out of this hellhole that was her situation...

But just when she finally thought she had a chance at living a superior life, this priest appeared and freed the other slaves, causing her master and their family head to become angry.

As a result, they told Honey to seduce him and then kill him.

It was not like she had a choice or wanted to do it. But the slave mark was making her do it anyway.

’I know I can seduce him, but he is not coming out to see me. Ugh, this is infuriating. How can I force him to come out? Should I break the door apart?’

Honey questioned herself. Just then, she heard footsteps heading her way and she realized this was her chance.

She looked at a familiar slave walking toward her and she recognized him as the slave from the Kensen family who brought Aiden and his goddess here.

He was someone she could use...

"Hey you! I will allow you to spend your night with me if you help me see the priest. I have an important message for him—"

She leaned closer to the slave, only for him to frown at her in disapproval.

"I have a name now and it is Caelion. It was given to me by my new master, and I would prefer it if you use it. Also, master...I mean, Priest Aiden has refused to see you, so please leave now. Otherwise, I will have to drag you out."

The smile on Honey’s face froze at those clear but cruel words rejecting her, and anger filled her on the inside.

"How dare you say all this? You know who I am, right? And you are still behaving like this? I ought to—"

"I see. So you don’t have good intentions after all. Then, allow me to lead you out."

Aiden grabbed Honey’s wrist before dragging her out. She had no time to say anything before the main door closed in her face.

All she could do was look at the door with a horrified expression before bringing the news of what happened back to her master.

’I cannot believe my charm not only failed to work on the priest, but also on that low-life slave. This humiliation...I need to take revenge.’

Although both Honey and Caelion were slaves, she looked down on him and the others because she had a name and thus, higher standing. But now that same bastard who was supposed to be beneath her was mocking her.

But in the end, she could not do much but head back. She was going to tell her young master what happened and request his help.

And then, she would teach outsiders a lesson.

...

knock

"Priest Aiden, the River family has sent a representative to meet you. Should I decline them entry?"

Caelion asked early next morning. The sun was barely out at this point, and yet, the River family had sent someone to him? The intention behind this was clear—they wanted to catch him off-guard.

Unfortunately for them, Aiden expected such a move from them after what they tried last night.

"Goddess Apophis, would you like to stay back in this room while I deal with our guests?"

Aiden asked the Goddess, who was lazing around in the bed. She was back in her snake form, and she quickly slithered toward him to sit back on his shoulder.

"I will go with you. I don’t trust these humans with your safety, but since you don’t want them crushed, I will relent this time."

"I am sure they will become grateful for your mercy soon. Now, let’s go and expand your domain."

Aiden opened the door, only to see Caelion waiting patiently for him to come out. However, something had changed from last night.

It seemed almost as if he had made peace with who he was and what his values were.

"Your eyes have changed. Now you finally look like a person ready to dedicate your everything to my goddess."

Aiden told the ex-slave with a satisfied expression, but the answer he got back was not exactly what he wanted to hear.

"I will forever serve you, and as long as you continue to serve Goddess Apophis, I shall serve her as well."

Caelion was under the impression that Aiden was the important person here, but Aiden did not get to clear out that misunderstanding because his goddess distracted him with her movements.

Her happiness was unexpected, but if Caelion’s words and actions brought her satisfaction, then who was Aiden to complain?

"Very well. Now, let’s go and check out what our guests want. Can you give me any information about who came to visit us?"

This time, there was no hesitation on Caelion’s face as he told Aiden the information he needed.

"The one who is visiting today is Sir Ethan River, the youngest son of the River family. He was arranged to marry the youngest daughter of the Kensen family, but then they had a falling out because of Honey. Honey is the slave who came to see you last night, and we made sure to throw her out."

"Anyway, the last I knew, he was not on good terms with his father, their family head, due to his infatuation with Honey. So I would like to believe he came here because we humiliated her. But he has the official River family stamp, so this could be a trap as well. We should be careful."

Caelion cautioned, but Aiden saw no point in being cautious of these weak people.

After all, they were all going to fall soon.
