Raising the Forgotten Snake Goddess with my Divine Faith System
Chapter 114: Ch 113: How to take a god down - Part 3
"Tsk, do you think I am simply going to sit down and take it? I am going to kill you and if not, I am going to curse you-"
God Vital yelled, but it was too late. Aiden had already severed his head.
But he was not foolish enough to think that this was the end.
God Vital might have been weak, but he was a god nonetheless and one that had been filled with hatred and anger by the end. The place they were inside right now reflected his desires as well as his anger.
So it was obviously going to try and stop them from leaving.
Sigh
"This never truly ends, does it? Well, it’s time to purify this place."
Aiden had already done his research as soon as he made up his mind about getting this place under his goddess.
So far, he had not wanted to do anything that could damage his goddess and her current presence. So he had already made sure to take all precautions.
The first step in all of this was to use his goddess’s divine presence to drive out God Vital’s divine presence. That way, she could take over his authority.
All Aiden could do for her right now was help her prepare. But the actual steps would have to be taken by her alone.
Aiden did not hesitate as he began the process.
Goddess Apophis took her home form, and her divine presence was completely different from God Vital’s. It was cold, poisonous, and ancient, carrying an oppressive feeling that made the entire temple tremble.
But that was the true essence that only Aiden and other gods could feel. For her followers, this presence was as light and sweet as honey.
The remaining divine power belonging to God Vital began to resist her.
It was not intelligent enough to make decisions on its own, but it was still connected to the god who had ruled this place for so long.
With his death, that power had become unstable and was desperately trying to protect what remained.
"Goddess Apophis, slowly. Don’t force it all at once. I will leave this room now so that you can concentrate more. Please call for me if you need me."
Aiden carefully watched the changes around them while giving her instructions. He had no intention of allowing her to damage the foundation of the place or accidentally destroy the authority she was trying to claim.
Goddess Apophis nodded and continued to spread her divinity through the temple, and Aiden felt it changing the nature of this place.
The walls began to shake, and the decorations started falling from their places. The divine pressure became stronger with every passing second, and Aiden could feel something changing.
The temple was recognizing a new master.
’This is working. Now I need to start reconstruction as soon as possible.’
Aiden smiled as he watched the last traces of God Vital’s divine presence disappear.
But that was only the beginning, and he was going to make this place undoubtedly filled with his goddess’s essence.
That was something Aiden needed to do later. Before that, he needed to spread her name and let the people know that they had a new god to worship.
He was not sure how much God Vital had integrated himself into the lives of the local people, but he doubted he dabbled in medicine.
"Not that it matters. Even if he did dabble in medicine, can it truly be better than the medicine provided by the system?"
All people needed to do was see a few miracles before they would change their affiliation. That was just how fickle the human mind was.
But it was better for Aiden this way.
Because he was human, he understood them. So he also knew what he needed to do in order to keep their interest and attention on himself.
Most people who served gods tried to get closer to them, but Aiden had a different approach. Instead of getting closer to gods, he needed to be closer to the humans. Only then would he be able to entice them into staying with his goddess.
...
"Hmm, as expected. The people here had not even started to notice that their god has been replaced."
For a normal person, a god was only remembered when the situation got truly dire. Other than that, they could go about their everyday life without even mentioning a god.
It was sad, but this was the reality of the situation for most people. So he needed to show them that his goddess was what they needed in their life.
The first thing he needed to do was find a stall that would take his goods off his hands. And that took a lot of time for him.
Most people were suspicious of an outsider like him and refused him on principle. But Aiden did not allow this to hinder his progress.
If he was rejected by one shop, he went to another and then another until he was able to find what he needed.
Finally, after 10 rejections, he found a shop willing to buy from him. But before that, they asked him to show proof that his medicine worked. And of course, Aiden had the proof.
Aiden carefully took out one of the potions he had prepared and placed it on the counter.
"This is a healing potion. If you have someone who is sick, let them drink it and you will see the difference."
The shopkeeper looked at the potion suspiciously before finally agreeing to test it. They brought in a sick customer who had been suffering from an illness for several days, and Aiden watched as the potion was administered.
The change was almost immediate.
The customer’s pale face slowly regained its color, and the weakness that had plagued them disappeared before everyone’s eyes.
The shopkeeper stared at the scene in disbelief.
"This... this is real?"
Aiden smiled.
"Of course it is. And this is only one of the medicines I can provide."
The shopkeeper’s attitude changed instantly.
He was no longer looking at Aiden like some suspicious outsider trying to sell questionable goods. Instead, he was looking at him like he had just discovered a treasure.
