Raising the Forgotten Snake Goddess with my Divine Faith System
Chapter 110: Ch 109: Backhand Attack - Part 2
"Sir, please come to the back. We have the authentic goods back here. I will show you the good stuff."
The man promised, and Aiden followed him, only to feel the "merchant" putting a knife against his back in a threatening manner.
"Don’t yell or speak. Do you understand? I will stab you in the back the second you try to make any noise. Now, you will lead us inside and—"
Aiden stepped forward just enough so that the flying cart wouldn’t hit him. Instead, it hit the man trying to threaten him, and he instantly died.
It happened so fast that everyone was left gasping and wondering who did this. And then, they all turned their eyes toward the culprit, who just walked toward Aiden and clutched his hand.
"Father, I don’t like these people. They tried to touch me even when I said no."
Sasha said this loudly enough to the point where other people from other villages heard this as well. They started to point at the group and make stories about them.
"They touched a child this young?"
"Where are they from? I need to make sure never to do business with them. Their god must be a pervert to allow such followers."
Hearing things being said about them and their god enraged the army. They tried their best to keep their temper under control, but it was hard for them.
"Sir, I swear on our God Vital’s name that we never meant to touch your daughter inappropriately. We just want to go inside—"
"Can you take a vow for this?"
Aiden asked, and the army flinched and hesitated.
Knowing that these people were part of Goddess Apophis’s lands, it was impossible for them to say that they did not want to touch Sasha. She was going to become a slave to them once they conquered this land.
Seeing this hesitation, the other merchants started to speak once more, and that finally made God Vital’s army snap.
"Tsk, this is enough. We don’t care who you are anymore or what you are doing. We will conquer this place in the name of God Vital—"
Goddess Apophis’s power immediately made these people disappear and threw them into other parts of the battlefield. They would all be dead before they knew it.
Aiden only sighed before he looked back at the other merchants and smiled.
"Oh my! It looks like they got too aggressive and angered my goddess. I better go and calm her down. You all, please don’t worry. You won’t be subjected to anything unpleasant here...as long as you remain civil."
This was a warning to the merchants to stay in their lane.
Since nothing had happened to the merchants so far, they knew they could trust Aiden. But at the same time, this encounter would serve as a warning to them to not try anything funny either.
As for God Vital’s army? It was not over yet. The main troublesome force had yet to arrive.
So far, the only people who came were insignificant people who did not matter. But it won’t take long for the main forces to arrive either.
All Aiden had to do was wait.
...
The sun started to set by the time all of Aiden’s factions decided to call it a day. All the army sent so far had been eradicated.
But it was not the end.
[God Vital’s priest is about to descend. Please head to the battlefield.]
The system reminded Aiden, and he nodded before he shook his body.
Goddess Apophis immediately tried to slither over to him, but Aiden stopped her.
"My Goddess, please stay back this time. I will handle this matter and come back soon."
Aiden was firm in his decision, and there was no hesitation in his eyes. He was not telling the goddess that he would be back; he was reassuring her that he would be.
Displeasure covered Goddess Apophis’s face, but she let out a sigh as she looked at him.
"I do not approve of you going alone. I wish to accompany you as well. But you will put up a fight if I tell you this, right?"
The goddess asked, and Aiden’s smile told her that she had struck gold.
Aiden took a step toward his goddess before he went down to one knee and looked her in the eye.
"My goddess, I promise you that I will bring you victory and come back soon. So please, just put your trust in me and wait for me to come back."
Aiden told her, and the goddess let out a sigh and nodded.
They both knew that Goddess Apophis would give Aiden all of her power if it looked like he needed it. But he won’t need it.
He had prepared too hard for this fight, and it was finally time to see the fruit of his labour.
"Goddess Apophis, please keep an eye out. This is the last day of the festival, and I promise I will show you something magnificent as a result."
Aiden promised her, and the goddess let out a sigh as she looked at Aiden’s back.
"I know that you are a trustworthy person, so I will choose to believe you. Show me that magnificent sight that you promised."
Aiden nodded before he turned around and walked out of the main temple.
This time, he was the only one who was being deployed, and that would be enough. Everyone else had worked hard, and they deserved to enjoy their day off.
Tomorrow, they would march toward God Vital’s territory and seize it. But before that, Aiden was going to eradicate their main force.
He could already make out the dots in the sky outside. The enemy had chosen to take the worst route possible for them.
[Aerial defence is ready. Automatic Firing starting in 5...4...3...2...1...now]
bang
The sound of the defence mechanism was loud this time, and Aiden made a note to look for noise-cancellation on these. There was no point in letting others know that they were being attacked.
