Chapter 132: The Battle Inside the Dukedom Mansion

The robbers were fully prepared. So, they leaped over the wall. The mansion guards had expected it and fired arrows at them as soon as they saw them. The arrows stopped in front of the robbers and fell limp. A transparent barrier appeared in front of them — something like elastic rubber instead of hard glass. It absorbed the impact.

The robbers had clearly anticipated this. They knew the wall was dangerous and that they needed a barrier. The first one to jump over probably held the barrier and spread it for the others to hide behind.

Even though they knew the arrows couldn’t penetrate, the arrows rained down like bullets. The arrows stuck to the barrier and fell. But among the arrows was one that glowed. It passed straight through the barrier and pierced one of the robbers!

"Light arrows! Mana-infused arrows! They broke through the barrier’s magic!!"

Lily grabbed my shoulder and shook me excitedly. The arrow that hit the robber vanished the moment it struck him, but the damage was terrible. The robber fell from the wall onto the road in front of the mansion.

"Let’s go up to the high part of the wall! We can’t see anything from here!"

Lily shouted with pure spectator energy. Spit flying right onto her face! But I wanted to see too, so I climbed to the high part of the wall. It wasn’t the Anderson mansion wall — it was the neighboring mansion’s. There was still killing intent leaking from the neighboring mansion, but it didn’t seem to be aimed at us.

Lily’s foot slipped and she almost fell. This is the first time I’ve ever seen Lily like this!

The moment a glowing arrow flew toward us, the robbers all jumped down from the wall. Of course, the Anderson mansion’s guards were waiting below. How are these guys so strong that they can just waltz in? None of them made a sound. The guards didn’t have light arrows, but the robbers did. They had light swords!

"Light swords! They’re incredible!?"

Lily told me, but it was exactly as she said. They were terrifyingly strong. The mansion guards were shooting from the dark, and light swords swung around, leaving afterimages. Every time, I heard cries of "Gyah!!" and "Guh!!". They were overwhelmingly strong. The Anderson mansion guards probably couldn’t win against them.

A glowing arrow flew straight toward the owner of the light sword. The sword owner anticipated it and sliced it down with his sword. Amazing. If all the guards were like this, the mansion would be wiped out.

"Lord Robby, there’s light!"

Lily said.

"Huh? What? Light? I can’t do anything!"

"I know. Point all the light you can at the mansion. Then I’ll shoot an arrow."

"Will it go through? The light arrow can’t break the barrier?"

"It should. If we focus on me, the barrier will handle the rest! Anyway, give me light!"

Got it. If I gave light, Lily would do something.

"Understood! Here we go! Three... two... one... zero... ’Light Up’!!"

I didn’t know if the chant was right, but when I shouted, a huge light ball appeared right in front of me. For a moment, the inside of the mansion was brighter than noon. I felt dizzy. Did I use too much mana?

The mansion was so bright that shadows disappeared. Because I was counting loudly, the robbers and the guards were all looking at me. Even though it was only a second, their eyes probably got burned. When the light faded, I’m pretty sure only Lily and I could still see clearly.

Lily fired an arrow from her crossbow. It flew slowly like slow-motion toward the light sword owner. It glowed as it went. The sword owner looked straight at us without defending himself. He wore a helmet and a chest plate. Lily’s arrow hit his throat perfectly. The moment the arrow entered, time stopped. He looked confused, then froze. A second later, another glowing arrow hit him in the back. One after another, the arrows came out through the chest plate.

The light sword disappeared from his hand.

"Goho! Goho! Gohogohoh!!"

He coughed and fell. It was so bright that his death was clearly visible. Then the light suddenly went out and everything went dark. My eyes couldn’t see anything, but Lily was still shooting arrows. I didn’t know if she hit anything, but she said "Yes!" and "Good!" It sounded like she was scoring hits. The mansion was also firing glowing arrows.

One of the robbers created a fireball. Was he in a rage? Or did he think that since he was going to die anyway, he might as well burn down the mansion? A huge flame appeared for a second, then glowed like a beacon. Glowing arrows rained down on it. The fire went out and a charred body fell. Then water droplets appeared and the fire was instantly extinguished.

"Run!"

The robbers started running. Three of them had climbed the wall, but two fell like ragdolls from the arrows. Only one used some kind of teleportation — whoosh! — and vanished.

Lily quickly raised my sword with her crossbow and straightened it. Thud! An impact hit my sword. The thing that hit it was a robber who had jumped straight at it. The instant my sword left the sheath, he was there.

I was surprised, so I hadn’t gripped the sword tightly. I got pushed back a little. But because I’m young, I reflexively reacted the moment the impact reached my sword. I didn’t fall off the wall. Wow, being young is amazing. Hehe.

The thief who hit my sword was immediately killed by Lily, who slashed his neck and finished him. She kicked him down into the mansion. Amazing, Lily. You can do anything.
