Chapter 34: Leah is missing

The both of them looked at each other, as if yelling something to themselves in their minds, and then bolting past me.

"I still have to distract it, no rushing ahead."

I charged in, using both my hands facing the floor and expelling compressed flames to push myself. Using Lia’s ability was quite difficult, but after a few times, I discovered that the method to use it wasn’t extremely difficult.

The amount of flames I could expel at a time was limited to two main factors, my mana and my ability to control the flow of mana. It used the same methods as a flamethrower.

My mana served as the fuel, like the liquid gasoline that was present in a flamethrower, or was compressed and forced out using a control valve where it is ignited and then the flame comes to me.

My mind was the ignition needed for making one flame, and the amount of mana that I ignite and how compressed I make it all determine what type of flames I get out.

To ensure that I could fly into the air, I needed to make a highly compressed valve and use a shit ton of mana for one massive burst.

I shot into the air, eyes locked on the Minotaur, which followed me with its head. I placed both hands together and pointed at it. Using the same technique that allowed me to fly, I could deliver a dangerous attack that could easily cause a lot of damage, and all I had to do was use an even more compressed flame with even more mana.

The flame ripped through the air, and before the Minotaur could react to it, it stabbed into its chest and burst out of the other side. Blood gushed out, and it staggered backward.

Leon landed on the ground, my heels ignited with a blast of compressed flames. Using the flames was not limited to only one part of the body but every part, but mostly places of contact like my palms and my feet. With the burst of the flames, I covered the distance fast and went for the Minotaur.

It recovered from the first attack that had gotten it. It pulled itself up, its eyes already locked on me as it came for a swing right for my head. I pivoted and propelled myself to the side, keeping my eyes on it as the axe cleaved into the ground deep.

Mira used the chance I created to come in. She ran off the side of the wall fast and leaped into the air. Her feet touched the ground once, lightning crackled, and she blasted forward even faster, leaping into the air, spinning and delivering a clean kick to the side of the Minotaur’s head.

The kick backed a heavy punch that caused it to stumble to the side. It roared and tried to go after her, but I intercepted fast, attacking it with a flame blast right into the head, pulling its full attention to me.

It swung and I dodged. It chased me down, and I backed away. Each swing was death that I barely managed to beat, but I would not be able to keep doing that.

Lia flew down in a swoop. She spun and used her legs. Her fist slammed into the head of the Minotaur, knocking it back, but before she could pull away, it grabbed her. She looked at the hand holding her leg and very quickly reacted. She blasted it with a heavy stream of flames. It burned the head of the Minotaur badly, and it staggered backward.

I charged it, knowing it was badly injured. It was time to land the killing blow, or so I thought. It grabbed its axe and forced itself back to its feet. Its aura exploded outward even more. It surged and created a protective flow around it.

It spread and covered the axe before turning into red flames. The Minotaur slashed, and a massive flame arc hurled out and came right at me, moving so fast it was far too hard to dodge. I planted my feet and propelled myself with a compressed blast of flames, wanting to evade the attack fully, only for the Minotaur to hurl its axe right at me midair.

I saw it coming in and could not fully dodge it. The axe cleaved into my shoulder, blood gushed out deeply. I groaned in pain as I hit the floor and rolled.

"Master!" Mira yelled and charged, forsaking the plan that we had made. Her anger took over as she leaped into the air, unleashing a barrage on the now weaponless Minotaur. The Minotaur was forced to raise its hands and block the attack as every slash from her came in lethal and fast. The lightning forced its way through the thick, flowy aura that was around the Minotaur.

Lia rushed over to me. She grabbed me and raised my head to ensure that I was safe.

"Are you alright?" she asked me.

"Yeah, I am." I replied, "Could do with some help closing the wound though."

She did not hesitate, placing her hand on the wound and blasting it with hot flames that seared it. I gritted my teeth and groaned in pain.

When she was done, I finally got on my feet and saw Mira going against the Minotaur alone, and she was managing to take it on. She dodged attacks cleanly and landed cleaner attacks.

I turned behind me and I spotted the axe that hadn’t been thrown. "Go help Mira, I’ll end this."

Lia looked at me, still worried that I was injured, but she listened, getting on her feet and dashing in that direction.

I got up and walked to the axe, and only now did I realize that Leah was no longer there, and so was Regan. The two of them were no longer there at all.

My heart dropped immediately. Something had gone wrong.

"Regan," I muttered in a low growl.
