Chapter 33: A good time

I looked in the direction where the attack had come from, and then I saw the shape take form, an eight-foot-tall Minotaur. Its body was made of dense muscles that twitched with every movement, every step caused the ground to tremble under him.

It let out heavy breaths every few seconds, fog leaving its nose every time.

"A Minotaur," Regan said. He struggled to his feet. I saw the fear form in his eyes, and I knew that was not something that was meant to be, but regardless, we had to handle it no matter what.

I got on my feet and dropped Leah. "Stay back," I said to her and grabbed my sword. I took a deep breath and stepped forward.

"Lia, Mira. If you have strength, back me up."

After saying that, I shot forward. I crossed the distance extremely fast, lightning leaving my feet as I moved.

This was something I had never done before, moving with lightning to make my body cover distance faster, but I had to find a way. I controlled the lightning the same way that I did with my hands, but this time I did it with my feet.

I focused on channeling it downward to ensure my propulsion more than anything.

The Minotaur had a massive battle axe with it. It saw me coming and pulled its axe, raising it into the air and swinging. It came down fast like a meteor, it moved extremely fast and cleaved through the air. I knew that if it even grazed me, it would be game over for me.

I went low, watching the axe pass right over my head. I spun around immediately I went past it and I got on my feet. Eyes locked on the back of the Minotaur, its ankles to be precise, because if I managed to cut there, I was sure I could take it down.

I took the opportunity and pressed close, sword stretched out and stabbed toward the ankle, but all of a sudden the Minotaur moved. It raised its leg from the ground and stomped down on my sword. I watched the metal shatter like glass.

"Shit."

I cursed. I did not expect it to go this way at all, even if it was strong. The Minotaur raised its axe into the air and swung it down at me. There was no way to dodge. I had not thought about it this way, I did not think it was actually going to have this level of combat.

Right when the axe was about to land, a stream of flame tore through the air and slammed into the axe, deflecting it from me.

At the same time, Mira moved. She crossed the distance and leaped into the air, her claws dug into the neck of the Minotaur. She followed it with high volts of lightning that caused it to stagger backward. It tried to grab her, but she leaped off it and landed on the ground beside me.

The Minotaur stared at us in pure rage. It slammed its feet into the ground and dragged it back a few times. Its hand wrapped around the axe hard, and then the flame erupted and covered the axe.

"You have to be kidding me," I said in disbelief.

Lia moved in. She flew above ground and unleashed a stream of compressed flames from the air above. The Minotaur swung its axe and blocked the flames. A massive collision formed in the air, bright and destructive, the flames fought hard against each other.

Lia had managed to buy us more time and distract the Minotaur. This meant Mira and I could attack and take it down, so that was what we did. I charged in fast and Mira followed behind.

I covered my fist in flames as I leaped into the air, delivering a clean punch into the Minotaur’s side.

BAM

It staggered backward and Mira dashed after me. She went low and attacked with a bolt of lightning, electrocuting the leg and causing it to collapse to its knee, the ground cracking beneath its knee.

Lia saw the opportunity and created a massive ball of fire. She hurled it at the Minotaur and it slammed into it, throwing it back hard into the ground with a massive sound.

I took that as my opportunity to take it down and win. I leaped into the air and clasped my hands together, flames surged around as I came down.

Suddenly, the eyes of the Minotaur turned blood red and an explosive force blasted out, slamming into me and everyone around. It hurled us back hard. I slammed into a wall. Lia managed to stop before hitting anything, and Mira as well.

I struggled back to my feet, breathing heavily as I got up. I looked up and the Minotaur was already back on its feet.

It opened its mouth and a thundering sonic roar that caused our ears to feel like they would burst. I gritted my teeth and charged at it again, but the Minotaur swung down and struck the ground. An explosive force blasted out and hurled me back again. I dug my hands into the ground and stopped.

We all stood in a standoff. It was clear that taking down this Minotaur was not going to be easy at all, but we still had to do that somehow to be able to get through here.

I looked at Lia and then Mira.

"Mira, your speed is what we need to get around it and land lethal attacks.

Lia, your explosive firepower is what we need to take it down. I’ll be the main distraction for it while you two focus on taking it down."

"Understood, master," Mira said and looked at it with killer eyes.

"I understand," Lia replied.

"If we take it down, then I owe you all a very good time."
