Chapter 613: Chapter 611: Aaron Sinclair’s Memory Awakening

Within the fissure that had split open, countless streams of black qi poured into the world. The qi was as thick as ink bleeding into water, its aura saturated with death.

In a single instant, the black qi flooded every corner of the world.

"Look, the sky is splitting apart!"

"Wha... what is that? It looks terrifying."

"The black qi is so thick."

"AHH... Stay away..."

Before the people of the world could even react, the black qi surging from the fissure had already swept across the land.

The black qi acted like a virus. Anyone it touched was instantly driven into a bloodthirsty frenzy. Veins bulged on their bodies, revealing black channels beneath the skin. Their eyes lost all focus as they became like the walking dead, pouncing on and tearing at any living thing they saw.

"AHHHH..."

"GACK... Run... Darling, take the children and run! I can’t control my body anymore... AHHHHH!"

"Daddy... Daddy, what’s wrong?"

"Mommy... Mommy..."

This was the Mortal Realm. Faced with a black qi that spread like a plague, its people had no way to resist. They could only watch in horror as their families and friends were infected, sending them into a panic. In an instant, countless people were fleeing for their lives, their terror absolute.

"Help... Help me..."

"Stay away... Stay away!"

The fissure in the sky continued to widen, and now a ceaseless torrent of black qi poured out. As countless people panicked and their cries filled the air, a humanoid figure emerged from within the surging darkness.

The figure was a phantasm of black qi, only vaguely humanoid in shape. It hovered in the air, and from within the dark mass of its body, a single, vertical, crimson eye opened.

The eye stared down at the world, filled with savagery, malice, and insanity—a madness that yearned to destroy everything.

Many people recognized that eye in an instant.

It was the same giant eye that had appeared in the sky nine years ago. The only difference was that now it was much smaller, embedded in a humanoid shadow. Its bloodshot, crimson appearance, however, remained unchanged.

As soon as the eye appeared, a voice boomed from the sky, ringing clearly in everyone’s ears. It was a voice brimming with manic arrogance.

"HAHAHAHA... Everard, I have returned! Today, I will kill you!"

"And as for you ignorant mortals, you will slaughter each other and become sacrifices for my Cultivation!"

...

Witnessing this scene, Celeste Grant rose from the stone bench in the courtyard. She tilted her head back slightly, her gaze fixed on the sky. Watching the black qi pour from the fissure, she spoke. "This is Death Resentment Energy."

’Once the Death Resentment Energy floods in,’ she thought, ’it won’t take half a month for this world to become a living hell, utterly barren. As for the creatures living here, they’ll slaughter each other to the last.’

She glanced at Javier Sinclair. "It wants to use the creatures of this world as sacrifices and claims it’s going to kill my son. Heh, this thing is pretty arrogant."

"It’s courting death," Javier Sinclair said flatly.

Celeste Grant gently pressed a finger to her chin, her gaze locked on the eye. She glanced at Javier Sinclair. "This eye has a certain artistic quality, don’t you think? So shiny and crimson. You know, I think the Demonic Domain is missing an eyeball just like this... to use as a road ornament."

Hearing this, Javier Sinclair nodded slightly. "I think that could work. It would create a great atmosphere if we used it for decorative lighting."

The two exchanged a chilling, sinister smile.

"I’ll go gouge that eyeball out right now," Javier Sinclair said.

Celeste Grant nodded. "Alright, let’s split up. You go get the eyeball. I’ll set up a Barrier to prevent our Magic from harming the innocent people in this world. They’ve been tainted by the Death Resentment Energy, their bodies have mutated, and they’ve lost consciousness. I’ll restrain them first to stop them from tearing each other apart. It’s much harder to save them when they’re missing arms and legs."

’To be honest, exorcising demons and defending the masses isn’t our responsibility. That’s the job of the Righteous Immortal Sects. Or, failing that, Empyria. Our family is supposed to be the arch-villains, the sworn enemies of the Righteous Path. Joining in on the demon-slaying business feels a bit like we’re stealing their job.’

’Then again, who cares if we steal it? Javier and I have been living in this world for so long. Basically, that means it’s under our protection now.’

’No, no, that’s not right. Let me rephrase.’

’We’re not trying to save anyone, and we definitely don’t want to steal anyone’s job. We just want to gouge out an eyeball and toss it into the Demonic Domain to use as a road ornament.’

As this thought passed through her mind, Celeste Grant had already flown into the sky. The moment she appeared, Immortal Spirit Qi surged from her body, instantly dissipating any black qi that drew near.

She hovered in the air, her clothes fluttering in the wind. Her features, which she had altered to appear more mature, reverted to their true youthful state. At the same time, her seemingly ordinary clothes transformed into a flowing, water-blue vestment robe.

Her Divine Sense blanketed the world. In her vision, all she could see was the suffocating Death Resentment Energy and the innocent people it had corrupted.

The moment Celeste Grant appeared in the sky, the eye above fixed its gaze on her. It sensed danger from her aura.

"Who are you? Why are you here?"

The voice carried a hint of urgency, as if realizing the situation was slipping from its control.

"Your aura... it’s the Third Level of the Immortal Realm! You’re from the Upper Realm! No, that’s impossible. I scouted this place long ago; it’s well-hidden and not under the protection of any Immortal Sect. How could someone from the Upper Realm be here?!"

Celeste Grant paid no mind to the eye’s ramblings. She brought her fingers together and unleashed her Magic, instantly immobilizing every person and living creature in the world. In a flash, it was as if a pause button had been pressed; nothing and no one could move.

She stretched out her hand, and several Spirit Crystals flew from her palm. These were far rarer than Spirit Stones and were perfectly suited for laying down large-scale Arrays and Barriers.

As the Spirit Crystals shot out, Celeste Grant’s hands moved through a series of sealing gestures, immediately laying down a Barrier that enveloped the entire world.

Witnessing this, the eye in the sky radiated fury. An enraged voice boomed, reaching Celeste Grant’s ears clearly.

"Fine... Fine! You all dare to oppose me! First Everard, and now you—another one trying to ruin my plans and obstruct my Cultivation. Every last one of you deserves to die! Are you all that bored? They’re just mortals! If they die, they die! What business is it of yours to save them? AHH, DAMN YOU!"

"Once I’ve dealt with you, I’ll go take Everard’s worthless life!"
