Chapter 607: Chapter 605: You’ve Lived Through So Many Chapters, It’s Time to Go Offline
"You couldn’t beat me, so you went after my son. You’re asking to die." As she spoke, she forcefully hauled the woman up, only to slam her back down onto the ground again.
The ground shook as her head smashed a crater into the earth. Eve Warren’s entire head was now planted inside the hole.
"Let... let go."
"You bitch... I won’t let you get away with this."
Hearing this, Celeste Grant’s expression was one of pure disdain. She let out a soft laugh. "You won’t let me get away with this? Go on, then. How exactly do you plan to do that? Every last one of you says the exact same thing the moment you fall into my hands. If you’re going to talk tough, you need the strength to back it up, don’t you think?"
As she spoke, Celeste Grant gave a sinister smile. "What’s the point of shouting? You can’t kill me anyway."
Hearing Celeste Grant’s mocking, contemptuous tone, Eve Warren—her head still planted in the crater—was on the verge of a breakdown. "Celeste Grant! Celeste Grant, why don’t you just drop dead!"
At that moment, Eve Warren’s heart was filled with bitter resentment and fury.
’Why is it still happening like this? Why is that woman, Celeste Grant, here in the Mortal Realm? I was so close... I could have killed that little bastard. This isn’t what I imagined.’
She clawed at the ground, her voice seething with fury. A pity that fury was all she had. Celeste Grant sneered. "Tsk, tsk. Look at you in your impotent rage. It’s nothing but a brief tantrum. Useless. Rest assured, even if you die, I’ll go on living just fine."
At this, she smiled.
"Jocelyn Grant’s mother... you know, even if you hadn’t come looking for me, I hadn’t forgotten that I have a score to settle with you." Here, she gave Eve Warren a wry look, her tone shifting. "I just never expected that before I came looking for you, you’d deliver yourself right to my door. Doesn’t this just prove the old saying? Heaven has a path, but you refuse to walk it. Hell has no gate, yet you insist on barging in."
At these words, Eve Warren was absolutely livid.
"Let me go, you bitch!"
Celeste Grant chuckled lightly. "Honestly, I’m already tired of seeing you. Since you came here on your own, why don’t I just finish you off this time? Send you to reunite with your dear Jocelyn... no, no, no, silly me, I forgot. Your dear Jocelyn is dead as a doornail, her Primordial Spirit completely dissipated. But that’s not important. You still need to be dealt with. If this were a novel, you’d have survived until the grand finale without being written off. The dear readers would be getting annoyed with you; they wouldn’t stand for it. So, after lasting for so many Chapters, it’s time for you to make your exit."
At that very moment, a wave of power burst forth from Eve Warren. Celeste Grant froze for an instant; the pressure under her hand vanished. The woman whose head she had been holding in the crater was gone, reappearing in the blink of an eye a short distance away.
Eve Warren stood there, her hair a total mess. Still, for that burst of power and the special effects that came with it, she deserved fifty cents.
Celeste Grant got to her feet and flicked her sleeves. "Oh? You managed to break free from my grasp. Quite the outburst."
Eve Warren glared at her with venomous hatred. Then, as if she’d suddenly remembered something, a crazed smile spread across her face. Her eyes swept over Celeste Grant before landing on Javier Sinclair, who was still seated nearby.
"I admit, you’re strong. So what? Have you ever heard that there’s always someone stronger, a sky beyond the sky? I can’t defeat you, but *He* can. The Lord is a mighty power from another world. In His eyes, you’re nothing. He could crush you with a single finger."
"You can’t kill me."
’There’s always someone stronger, a sky beyond the sky? So there’s someone even stronger than us? She’s really maxing out the hype.’
Celeste Grant was unconvinced. She just scoffed. "Oh yeah? Who? Why don’t you call them out for a look? You claim to have a backer? Perfect. Have them come here so I can deal with everyone at once. It’ll save me the trouble of hunting them down later."
Eve Warren’s eyes swept over the pair. Seeing their dismissive attitude, she seethed with frustration. In her mind, the Lord behind the eye was the most powerful existence in the world. How dare they be so contemptuous?
"What do you two know? You have no idea what kind of powerful being you’re facing."
Celeste Grant rolled her eyes.
’How powerful? Could he be more powerful than the Demon God himself?’
"This Jocelyn Grant’s mother is so annoying."
The moment she spoke...
Eve Warren, who had been talking, froze. In a fit of rage, she gathered her Cultivation in her hands and unleashed a strike directly at Celeste Grant. As she attacked, her Cultivation surged forth, creating a vortex of Spiritual Energy in the surrounding area.
Celeste Grant remained rooted to the spot, not moving an inch. She simply turned her hand over, condensed her power, and met Eve Warren’s force head-on. Instantly, two different colors of magical light filled the space within the Barrier.
This was the Mortal Realm. If she hadn’t laid down a Barrier from the start, the collision of their powers would have instantly flattened the entire country of Kelldorn. This is the very meaning of the saying: when Immortals fight, mortals suffer.
That saying was never just an expression; it was meant to be taken literally. She wasn’t the type to treat mortal lives as if they were worthless weeds. All life deserved to be treated with respect. That was why, even when she made a move in the Mortal Realm, she would never let her power harm a single innocent soul.
As the two forces collided, Eve Warren was blasted backward by Celeste Grant’s power, slamming hard against the Barrier.
Celeste Grant heard the distinct sound of bones cracking and watched as Eve Warren, unable to take the force, coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"Damn it..."
She clutched her chest and spat out another mouthful of fresh blood. Realizing she was no match for Celeste, Eve Warren decided to call for backup. ’I’m not alone anymore. There’s a mighty power backing me. I’m working for him now, so that Lord will definitely not stand by and watch.’
With this in mind, Eve Warren shouted, "My Lord, save me!"
’When He sent me here, He told me He would always have my back. If I was ever in danger, I just had to call His name, and He would come at once. Isn’t this that very moment? If I can summon the Lord, then today will be the day Celeste Grant and her lackey die! All the injuries I’ve sustained will have been worth it.’
"Kill her."
"My Lord, kill her for me!"
Eve Warren yelled into the air, but was met with nothing but silence. The Lord did not appear. Not only that, but even the crimson eye that had spoken to her before was gone, as if it had never existed in the first place.
’No...’
’Did He not hear me? Impossible. A being of His stature... He even said He left a Divine Thought on me. There’s no way He doesn’t know I’m in danger. Why won’t He come save me?’
Her eyes darted around, a look of desperation and panic appearing on her face. ’What am I going to do if the Lord doesn’t come?’
"I humbly beseech you, Lord Evil Eye, to kill this bitch Celeste Grant for me! As long as you kill them, I’ll do anything. I’ll spend the rest of my life as your slave, serving your every need!"
