Pregnant Cultivator, Doted by Big Boss
Chapter 605 - 603: How Could It Be You?
Chapter 605: Chapter 603: How Could It Be You?
Aaron fell silent, his gaze sweeping over his surroundings. He found nothing out of the ordinary.
’Did I just imagine it? Or have I just been paranoid ever since that eye appeared in the sky? Maybe it’s all in my head, making me feel like something’s watching me.’
’Damn it! The pressure is really getting to me. But it makes sense. How could anyone not be on guard when facing an unknown, otherworldly danger?’
He frowned slightly at the thought.
He frowned slightly at the thought.
"Mom, do you think that eye in the sky will come back?"
A hand gently ruffled his hair. Aaron looked up to see his mother gazing at him tenderly. "Don’t worry so much, sweetie. Even if that thing does come back, it won’t be able to cause much trouble. You’ll understand someday. Your mom is actually pretty amazing. These fists are harder than they look. And when it comes to taking someone down for good, I’ve never lost."
Javier Sinclair nodded, wholeheartedly agreeing with his wife. "That’s right. And your father is only a little less incredible than your mother. So it’s just one little eye. The sky isn’t falling."
The corner of Celeste Grant’s mouth twitched, and she couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him.
Aaron watched his parents, still acting all lovey-dovey even at a time like this, and sighed. ’They’re so carefree, being this cheerful right now. We’re talking about a monster from who-knows-where, an unknown and powerful force.’
’In the end, I’m the one carrying this whole family.’
’This family would fall apart without me.’
He glanced up at his parents again, only to see his father feeding his mother a piece of sweet potato.
"Here, honey, have a bite."
"Oh, you’re the best, my Archfiend!"
The two of them were completely lost in their own world, acting incredibly lovey-dovey.
’The Archfiend? What kind of weird nickname is that?’ He stared at the two of them, forgetting to eat. ’They’re being so obvious. Do they really have to flaunt their affection like this?’
"My dear, is there anything else you’d like? I can get it for you. How about some fish? I’ll go catch and roast one for you."
"Oh, that sounds wonderful! Thank you, darling."
"I love you, honey."
’I can’t take this anymore. I just can’t.’
Aaron rubbed his arms.
"So sappy. You two are disgustingly sappy."
The moment the words left his mouth, his father shot him a look. "Just admit you’re jealous, kid."
"Mom, look at Dad! He’s a grown man, and he has no shame!"
Celeste Grant waved her hand dismissively.
"Just get used to it, sweetie. Your dad’s acting like he’s seven today, not a day older."
"Seven years old... haha."
Hearing this, Aaron couldn’t help but laugh. For a moment, the lighthearted atmosphere allowed him to relax.
The next few days passed without incident.
Or so Aaron thought. In reality, ever since the eye appeared in the sky, every nation in this world, from the emperors down to the common folk, had been plunged into a state of panic. An otherworldly entity of that magnitude was simply not something ordinary people could ever hope to resist.
Whether it wanted to drain the world of its energy or use all living beings as a sacrifice, the prospect was terrifying for ordinary people. If the entity hadn’t given up and was still watching them, their world remained in grave danger.
The situation in Kelldorn was slightly better. They had witnessed the Princely Heir confront the malevolent eye in the sky with their own eyes. As word had spread over the past two days, everyone now knew that a Celestial God had descended among them. With the Princely Heir’s protection, they believed they would be safe.
The news of Aaron confronting the malevolent eye that day was impossible to contain, so the other nations soon received word as well.
At first, they were skeptical, suspecting it might be a ploy by Kelldorn. How could a mere child be a god descended from the heavens? But the terrifying pressure that accompanied the monster’s arrival could not be faked. The eye was so massive it had filled the entire sky—a scene that had become a lingering nightmare for countless people.
If monsters were real, then the descent of a Celestial God seemed plausible enough.
Seeking protection and a way to combat future threats, the emperors of the other nations immediately dispatched envoys to Kelldorn to discuss the matter.
Even if they had been adversaries in the past, they now had to unite as Humanity in the face of an unknown threat.
In the days that followed, a persistent unease lingered in Aaron’s heart. He would sometimes glance up at the sky, hoping that the name of Everard would truly be enough to deter that entity.
「Half a month later.」
Ever since the scarlet eye had appeared and vanished, it had not been seen again.
But on this particular night, an unexpected visitor arrived.
The moment they appeared, Celeste Grant sensed them.
She sat bolt upright in bed and tugged on the clothes of the person beside her.
"Javier Sinclair, wake up."
An arm wrapped around her neck, pulling her back into an embrace. "What’s got you so jumpy? Go back to sleep."
Celeste Grant pinched him. "How can I sleep? I sensed someone has descended to the Lower Realm. And the aura... it’s an old acquaintance."
Javier sounded unconcerned. "So they’re here. What’s the big deal?" he mumbled.
"I’m going to go take a look." As she spoke, her figure vanished from the room. A moment after Celeste Grant left, Javier Sinclair, who had been lying in bed, disappeared as well, following right after her.
When they reappeared, they were standing atop the Astral Sanctum, the highest point in the Prince’s Manor. The Sanctum was beautiful, with sheer silks drifting gently in the breeze. From this vantage point, they had a clear view of the entire manor.
Standing beside Javier, Celeste placed a hand on the railing and looked out into the night sky. Just then, a streak of light shot toward them from the distance, moving at an incredible speed. To an ordinary person, it would look like a shooting star. But to the two of them, it was clearly a person flying in their direction.
The person was so fast they descended from the sky in the blink of an eye. The figure landed in one of the manor’s courtyards, coming to a stop beside a lotus pond.
It was indeed an old acquaintance. The person was none other than Jocelyn Grant’s mother, Eve Warren.
’So, Eve Warren isn’t dead after all.’ To Celeste, she was a nobody, hardly worth any special attention. Of course, Celeste wasn’t in a hurry to kill her either. She’d merely instructed the disciples of the Demonic Domain to "take good care" of Eve whenever they encountered her out in the world.
’After all, letting her live in constant terror, surviving one near-death experience only to be faced with another, is so much more satisfying than a quick, clean death.’
’But why would Jocelyn’s mother suddenly show up here, in the Mortal Realm, where there isn’t a shred of Spiritual Energy? What is that damn woman planning?’
Down by the lotus pond, Eve Warren scanned her surroundings and began to laugh as if she owned the place. Her face was filled with the triumphant glee of someone whose long-awaited revenge was finally within reach.
"Celeste Grant, you brought this on yourself!"
"Hahaha... Celeste Grant, while you’ve been off fooling around with that Demon in the Demonic Domain, I bet you have no idea what’s happened to your precious son, do you?"
