Pregnant Cultivator, Doted by Big Boss
Chapter 601 - 599: I Must Have Seen It Wrong
Chapter 601: Chapter 599: I Must Have Seen It Wrong
The eye stared intently at him, yet it didn’t dare make a rash move. A voice, full of conviction, was the only thing that came from the void.
"Everard, I’ve seen right through you. Your Cultivation was scattered and you perished long ago. Even if a wisp of your Primordial Spirit remains in this world, you’re just an ordinary person without any Cultivation now. How do you plan to fight me?"
"Heh heh... I almost fell for your trick. I see it clearly now—you’re just putting on a brave front. Killing you now would be as easy as crushing an ant."
Aaron Sinclair waved his hand and returned to his seat. He casually rested his arm on the side and leaned back lazily, his gaze fixed on the eye in the sky.
He spoke in a light tone. "The eye in the sky... you say killing me is like crushing an ant? One shouldn’t be so arrogant; it’s a good way to get struck by lightning. However..." His voice trailed off as he gave a faint smile.
"You’re welcome to try..."
His gaze turned cold, the smile gone from his voice.
At the same time, it looked as if blood was trickling from the eye in the sky, making it appear sinister and terrifying.
"Everard... I’m going to kill you."
"If you’ve got the guts, then stop playing dirty."
The voice continued to clamor, but it made no move to act.
Aaron Sinclair was sure of it; his opponent was clearly wary of this ’Everard’ and didn’t dare to act. ’It must have suffered a major loss at his hands before,’ he guessed. ’Once bitten, twice shy. This isn’t just caution, it’s genuine terror.’
Thinking of this, he gave a small smile and said in a low voice, "Actually, I’m a pretty nice guy. I’m not a big fan of fighting and killing. I’m a huge fan of peace—I even help old ladies cross the street. But if someone is rushing to their death, I’m happy to oblige."
As his voice fell, the eye widened.
’Here it comes, here it comes. This is the feeling.’
As the number one expert of the Cunmere Realm, Everard was always at his most murderous whenever he smiled and claimed to be a good person. If the master of that eye had a physical body right now, they would undoubtedly be backing away, preparing to escape.
Down below, Aaron Sinclair gently raised his hand in a gesture.
"Hey, you, the eye up there! Since you’ve already come all this way, why not come down and play? It’s been so long. We should catch up and rekindle our bond." He sounded relaxed, but inwardly, he was a nervous wreck.
’Just go, please just go away.’
’You’re not welcome here in our humble little place.’
That was what he was really thinking.
But he had to maintain his facade. The more arrogant his posture, the more his opponent’s imagination would run wild. And sure enough, his act truly did intimidate the eye.
Before Aaron Sinclair could add a few more words, the eye glared at him furiously.
"Everard, I won’t fall for your trick!"
"You just wait! One day, I will see your Primordial Spirit annihilated and your body left in pieces!" The voice was filled with explosive rage. After throwing out this vicious threat, the eye vanished from the sky. The blood-red lines in the air disappeared along with it. It fled rather quickly, as if terrified of being caught in the next moment. It was gone in a flash.
Seeing this, Aaron Sinclair’s mouth twitched.
’Well... that was a fast getaway.’
’What do you call that? Spout the most vicious threats, then make the fastest escape.’
’If that eye had waited just a moment longer, or tried to test me, or just not been so terrified of that Everard fellow, I probably would have been a goner today. But I guess this bluff was a gamble that paid off.’
With the eye gone, Aaron Sinclair could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
’But... what now? I’m sure it won’t just let this go. And since it’s mistaken me for someone else, it’s definitely going to keep targeting me.’
’I don’t know what that eye is, but one thing is certain: it’s evil. The power it wields is a cataclysm-level threat to this world.’
He frowned slightly, momentarily at a loss for what to do.
"Damn it."
Aaron Sinclair cursed under his breath, his hand tightening on the arm of his chair.
He raised his hand, his gaze falling upon it.
’I’m too weak. How can I protect anyone like this?’
He thought of his father and mother. He had only just reunited with his birth parents; he finally had a home of his own. No matter what, only by becoming strong enough could he protect everything and everyone he cared about.
"Power... a power that transcends mortal understanding."
Aaron Sinclair clenched his fists.
If before he had only wanted to learn martial arts, at this moment, he yearned for a power far greater.
After witnessing the eye in the sky today, Aaron Sinclair knew. His world, everything he had seen and heard, was confined to this small place he lived in. Perhaps what lay beyond was far grander than he could ever imagine.
At that moment, Aaron Sinclair felt like a frog at the bottom of a well, unable to leap out and utterly ignorant of the world beyond.
The gloomy, dark sky seemed to be torn open by a beam of light, and in that instant, the darkness receded. Sunlight pierced through the clouds and fell upon the land; everything was beautiful once more. It was as if everything that had just happened was a mere illusion, that it had never existed at all.
And yet, no one there believed the previous scene was a hallucination. Everyone had seen the terrifying sight. At this moment, no one spoke, for they had no idea how to describe the complex emotions they felt. For an ordinary person, it was a danger beyond their power to resist.
It wasn’t until a good while later that the onlookers, their faces pale, finally began to speak.
"Did we survive?"
"What was that thing?"
"Was that eye in the sky one of the legendary monsters? It looked so terrifying. From its aura just now, I felt like I was going to die."
The people in the crowd murmured amongst themselves, leaning on one another for support.
"Is that eye gone?"
"Will that vicious thing come back? Are we going to die?"
That eye said it wanted to absorb the world’s energy. Although these ordinary people didn’t know what this "energy" was, the fact that the creature wanted to absorb it meant it was vital to the world and to them. Not only that, but the eye also intended to use all living beings as a sacrifice.
It wanted to take all their lives.
They had heard of such monsters in legends and storybooks, but they never imagined that one day, they would truly witness such a thing descend upon them. It was terrifying, truly terrifying.
"Are we going to die?"
This was the question on everyone’s mind.
At this moment, every mortal living in this world felt a sense of profound unease.
