Chapter 170: Finder’s keepers
Siren’s POV
My husband chuckles as Elias slams the door shut with more force than necessary.
He will get his scolding later.
In this house, we generously apply the rule of finder’s keepers. I found Noah and I will keep Noah. The pup is mine.
I look down at the shy omega’s face with fondness in my heart.
When I first met him, I was going to treat him like one of my employees. I was going to teach him to be strong and accept his fate with a mind of steel. I never knew I would fall in love with having an omega to care for.
He’s the pup I never gave birth to. The pup I’ve always wished for.
I notice the way the young omega is pressing his hand into his lap, and I assume it’s a well-known sign of needing to use the bathroom.
I hate how Noah never asks for anything. He sobs, he hides, he endures but he never asks. Everyone who groomed him in this manner will pay for their sins.
"Do you need to urinate, Noah?" I ask.
"Huh?" he asks.
"Do you need to take a piss, Goldilocks?" my husband interprets my words for him, and I shake my head slowly. Darius prides himself in being...young and trendy.
Ignoring my husband, I turn my attention to Noah’s sweet face. I raise my eyebrow in a quiet question and he nods.
"Yeah, I’m really pressed" he confesses.
"There is a bathroom three doors away. Feel free to use it" I instruct firmly before stepping back to give him enough moving space.
"I’ll be back" he says shyly. I watch as he gets up from the stool with his hands still in front of him. Why is he this precious?
My eyes stay fixed on him as he walks out of the kitchen. When he shuts the door behind him, I turn my gaze to my husband.
"He’s pregnant" Darius says bluntly and I nod in agreement.
"He’s pregnant" I repeat quietly. We don’t need tests to know it. We have years of experience and pregnancies behind us.
The omega’s craving is bizarre. His mood changed like the wind, and his body is subtly becoming healthier.
"We still need to make sure. A test or two will be run" Darius says and I nod without saying a word.
We will make sure nothing goes wrong with both Noah and the pup.
My clan will need to work harder to keep Goldsmith and his plans with Julian at bay. Men like Julian would not mind taking a pregnant omega captive, and I won’t let that happen.
I need to host a meeting with the inner circle of our clan. It seems Noah and Elias are unaware of the news, so we won’t make a sudden move and ruin the surprise for them yet. Caution and alertness need to work together.
’We will protect our pups from Julian...we failed once and we won’t do it again’ my omega says and I swallow my whimper.
It has been ten years since it happened, yet the pain of my missing children remains vivid. The stab in the chest, the never-ending headaches...the cold depression.
"My moon" Darius’s voice calls me out of my wandering, and I lift my head to look at him. He knows I’m getting lost in my own head. He knows me too well.
"Yes?"
"I’ll make a good GILF wouldn’t I, my moon?" he asks and I tilt my head in confusion. "What does that mean?"
"It means I’ll be a great Granddaddy I’d Like to Fuck" my husband says with a wolfish grin, and I fold my arms across my chest to avoid laughing.
"Darius, what did I tell you about learning the new generation slangs? You are no longer twenty-six" I scold and he shrugs, turning his attention to the arrangement he’s finishing.
"You didn’t seem to think about my age when I made sweet, sweet love to you..."
I pull my gun out and hold it at his head. He doesn’t look phased. He continues to perfect the shortcake and lay out the pickles.
"My gun is loaded" I warn and he raises a hand.
"Okay, okay. but you know I will gladly die with the pride of loving you. And if I die by your hands...my moon, wouldn’t that be the greatest honor" he asks and my hand shakes.
It has been almost thirty years of being together like this, yet this alpha knows how to reduce me to a blushing mess effortlessly.
"You’re insufferable, Darius" I mutter.
"And you’re stunning. Put that gun away right now, Siren. You’re going to give me a hard on" he says and I put the gun down.
My gloominess returns as I place the gun on the table. The strawberry shortcake looks absolutely delicious. It’s all thanks to my sweet tooth that cake is almost always available.
"We need to find a way to keep Noah safe. Silas is still investigating the school incident, and so far we haven’t found any traceable evidence" I say and my husband hums.
"I suspect the activities of a rebel division" he says and I press my lips into a straight line. We are yet to squash Julian; a rebel division is the last thing we need.
"Now that Elias has claimed Noah with a bite, that is one hurdle crossed. It is only one out of a hundred steps we have to take for Noah’s safety" I say and Darius looks up.
"We’ll figure something out. We already have the Stiles boy in our hold, we can play on his influence if he chooses to work with us" he says.
"He has no choice but to work with us" I say quietly. The door opens and Noah peeks in with his eyes half-closed.
Poor boy.
I don’t blame him for peeking. He must be traumatized by Darius and his never-filtered comments, so it’s no surprise that he has to make sure we’re decent before coming in.
"I peed" he says softly as he slides into the stool with his hands on his lap and his back straight. The rigidness of his frame bothers me. I want to steal him away and take care of him.
I wonder what other craving he would develop as he grows. Is he going to end up like me and constantly ask for air fried drumsticks?
"I’m back and I’m ready to take my mate back" Elias barges into the room and my husband turns around to present his creation.
He did everything the way Noah wants, and he shows it off with pride. The sight is sickening, but it’s alright, my grandpup is allowed to demand anything.
"Thank you so much, it looks so good!" Noah says with innocent excitement in his eyes. Darius passes the plate of strawberry shortcake, pickles, and cashew milk to Noah who digs in immediately.
"This is so good" the omega moans around the fork and my husband holds my eyes. I can see the thoughts behind those eyes. Goddess...it’s a good thing I’ve gone past the age of having pups.
Elias moves away from the door to stand behind Noah like a bodyguard. In his own way, he is laying his claim on his husband. He isn’t touching the omega, but the need is obvious.
"Noah, would you like to accompany me to the clothing store again?" I ask and my son’s eye twitches with anger.
"We have plans already, Mother" he says with mechanical coldness and my husband starts to laugh. He is clearly entertained by my interaction with our middle child.
"We have plans?" Noah asks, lifting his head to look at Elias with confusion in his eyes. His cheeks are round and full of pickles and strawberries.
"We’re going to the beach, Angel," Elias says to Noah softly and the omega nods with excitement.
I quietly move away from them and lean against the counter.
My emotionless one has fallen in love. I have an omega child. And I have a grandpup on the way...what a blessing.
