Chapter 142: Don’t call him babe

Noah’s POV

I keep smiling to myself as we go up the escalator.

While I’m the one that has been branded as bratty and spoilt, Elias is the one having a fit. I’m sure he’s silently cursing me out and I know this because I can see the murderous intent in his eyes.

The alpha’s arms are folded and Lucas is snickering.

"All it took was saying Siren’s name and the motherfucker folded. What a mama’s boy" Lucas says behind us and Elias turns to him.

"I am not above public murdering, Luke. I’d advise you to keep shut" he grumbles and Lucas repeats his words back to him with a high-pitched mocking tone.

I guess at the end of the day, formal outfits and menacing weapons aside, we’re just young people.

"We get the hoodie and we leave. Simple" Elias says to me and I act like I didn’t hear him. "Noah, are you listening?" he growls.

"Yeah, yeah, I heard you" I say, waving him away.

’He’s such a hot nagging husband’ my shameless omega purrs at the macho man energy radiating off him, and if I could, I would smack myself for it.

I lead the way to the store while being followed by two crazy alphas. One is with a scowl, and the other with a mocking smirk plastered to his face.

"I don’t like that girl’s store, let’s go somewhere else" Elias suddenly stops me and I look at him with a raised brow. "It’s just Jennie, she’s really good at fashion and knows the exact brand Siren bought" I say.

"I don’t give a fuck; we’re not going in there" he insists and I yank my hand out of his grip.

"Behave" I hiss and continue my walk into the store.

The moment I cross the door; Jennie looks up from the checkout desk. Her pretty eyes light up with excitement and she jumps out of the chair.

"You’re back!" she squeals, running over to where I’m standing to hug me. I know Elias will get really mad, but I let her hug me. It feels nice to be around another fun extrovert.

"Hi Jennie" I grin.

"That’s enough" Elias says and Jennie lets go of me to look at my face.

"Why do you look like you swallowed a firefly?" she asks and I move back with worry about my appearance. "Do I look sick?" I ask.

"No, bestie. You’re glowing. Like glowing glowing, babe" she says and Elias moves closer to us. He wraps his arms around my middle and presses his body into my back.

"Don’t call him babe" he tells her with that cold tone that scares me. And instead of cowering in fear, Jennie laughs sarcastically. She’s about to end up dead, yet she’s laughing.

"Relax, Babe" she says to Elias, and I press my lips together to avoid bursting to laugher, I can already feel Elias’s anger.

"I don’t do omegas. And if I only like alphas and betas, I wouldn’t do you; you’re not my type" she says with that unmatchable sass and a dramatic wave of her manicured fingers.

"Burn" Lucas starts to guffaw and I grab Elias’s arm to mask my laughter. I don’t want him to explode or kill her. I really like this lady.

Jennie has no filter. No matter what the person’s size, age, or gender is, she will yap. I’ve seen her with Siren, and I know she has no limit.

"Anyways, babe" she says to me, intentionally putting too much emphasis on ’babe’ while giving Elias an ’I dare you to complain’ look. "What are you doing here today, what are you shopping for?" she asks.

"Well, I lost the pink hoodie" I say and her lips form an ’O’. "You’ll have to be a bit more specific than that, you got a lot of hoodies that day" she says with soft laughter.

"We can browse, right?" I ask, looking at Elias for confirmation and he grunts like a grudge holding caveman.

"Okay, you search that side and I’ll search this side. I’ll bring out the types I can remember" she says and leaves us to go search for my hoodie.

"What about my sexy self? What am I to do?" Lucas asks.

"You do your job" Elias says bluntly and Lucas gives him the middle finger in response. "Congratulations on upping your status to grand-asshole-master" he says and walks in the opposite direction.

"Let’s go looking" Elias says to me in a gruff tone and I give him a glare.

"You know, you have a very horrible character" I say and he chooses to ignore me.

Fine then.

I’ll do what I like because I can.

Instead of continuing in the clothing line, I purposefully take a wrong turn, ending up in the part of the store that made me blush to death that first time.

The adult side.

I shove my hands into my pockets to look confident even though my cheeks are burning. So many sex toys stare at me with imaginary eyes and I blush even harder than last time. I really don’t think things through before I act, do I?

I stop in front of the shelf where Siren got my pink dildo from and I put one hand to my chin, pretending to browse the line while I’m actually dying on the inside.

’Goddess, I know I was really rude to do all that in your temple, but if you get me out of this situation without having to embarrass myself, I’ll be extra good. I swear’ I say the long prayer in my head.

From the corner of my eyes, I see Elias walk by me and stop at another shelf.

Curious to see what he’s going to do, I turn to look at him and to my biggest shock, the alpha picks something off the shelf.

"Uh...what are you doing?" I ask and he lifts the box to show me.

"What is that?" I ask, unfamiliar with the packaging and its content.

"A plug" he says and I keep staring at it, I’m too ashamed to tell him I don’t know what it is.

"Babes!" Jennie calls and joins us in the aisle.

"Did you find it? Oh boy, why are you so red?" she asks as she comes closer and I clear my throat. Elias returns to picking out more things and Jennie snatches me away.

"Come look at these" she says as she holds out the hoodies she got. The bright lady tilts her head when her eyes find the injury on my neck.

"What is that?" she asks and I shyly touch my mating bite, "Um...it’s my mating bite" I say and I don’t know if I imagined it or not, but Jennie’s smile dims.

"Oh" she breathes out and laughs awkwardly.

"Is something wrong?" I ask, covering the bite out of worry, and she laughs again with more fake energy.

"What? No. Uh...congratulations bestie. Come on, check these out so you can be on your way" she says and I nod, still wearing my shy smile.

I wonder why her energy dropped.
