Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Salandit

A/N:3/4 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Julian looked down at his clothes. They had also been covered in dust by Eevee, and he could not help complaining.

"What were you doing? How did you turn yourself into a coal ball?"

Eevee proudly raised his head.

"Eevee!"

He jumped out of Julian’s arms and vividly showed him what he had done today.

It seemed a fierce-looking Pokémon had arrived and bullied Eevee’s friends, trying to seize their territory.

Eevee had descended like a hero and led his friends to drive that fellow away together.

As for this body of coal dust, it had been caused by that Pokémon.

Julian was somewhat curious. Pokémon that could spray black ash were not common.

This Pokémon was probably Fire type, and its temperament seemed fairly aggressive.

If it became unhappy and casually used Flamethrower on the miscellaneous objects piled up in Veilstone City’s old district...

It could ignite the clutter, then set fire to the wooden buildings in the old district and cause a major fire.

Combined with its behaviour of seizing territory, this Pokémon had probably only just arrived in Veilstone City.

Leaving such a Pokémon in the city was a potential safety hazard.

They had to find it and give it a proper safety lecture.

Julian placed his hand on Eevee’s shoulder and looked at him seriously.

"Eevee, I have a very important mission for you!"

Eevee’s expression also became serious. He stared at Julian intently.

"Eevee!"

Julian nodded.

"Very good. Full of spirit! I need you to help me find the Pokémon you chased away!"

Eevee blinked in confusion, then nodded hard.

"Vee!"

Leave it to me!

Eevee had fought that Fire-type Pokémon and was very familiar with its scent.

As long as they started searching from the place where they drove it away, Eevee believed he could definitely find it!

Julian beckoned to Gallade and Sirfetch’d.

"You two, come with me. We’re going out to handle something."

Hakamo-o and Primeape were currently exchanging punches with burning fighting spirit.

Croagunk was also seriously throwing punches, trying to break through Goodra’s defences.

He was also carefully dodging Goodra’s shell attacks.

Goodra herself was equally focused on battle training.

Following behind Eevee, Julian arrived at a playground made from piled-up abandoned furniture.

Azurill, Shroomish, Venonat, Exeggcute, and Wooper.

Although Eevee said they had won against that Pokémon because he had been brave enough...

In truth, it was Azurill and Wooper’s Water Gun that had made the other side flee in panic.

Wooper poked his head out from a metal bucket filled with water.

"Wooper?"

Eevee raised his head and proudly introduced Julian behind him to Wooper.

Julian smiled and waved.

"Hello, Wooper."

Azurill, Shroomish, Venonat, and Exeggcute were squeezed onto an old sofa, sleeping soundly.

Defeating the Pokémon that had tried to seize their territory had consumed too much of their stamina.

Eevee explained Julian’s mission, and Wooper jumped out of the bucket too.

"Wooper!"

He was willing to lend Julian a hand as well.

Julian took a handful of Pokémon food from his pocket and handed it to Wooper.

"Thank you, Wooper. Eat something to recover your strength."

He ate the food from his hand in large mouthfuls.

Since arriving in Veilstone City, Wooper had eaten quite a bit of food made by humans.

But the Pokémon food he ate today tasted the best. As soon as it entered his stomach, he immediately felt strength returning to his body.

Before leaving, Julian placed a large pile of food beside the old sofa as well, enough for Azurill and the other three Pokémon to eat.

Eevee lowered his head and sniffed around, then led Julian to a deep alley.

Two Zubat were silently hanging from the edge of the wall, sleeping and waiting for nightfall to begin their hunting time.

Passing through the deep alley, they arrived at a bustling commercial street.

A familiar barbecue aroma drifted over. Mr Brook’s barbecue shop was not far away.

These shops, headed by Mr Brook’s, were all wooden buildings.

Once a fire started, it would easily spread from one building to the next.

In the alleys between the shops, plenty of miscellaneous objects were commonly piled up.

Some Pokémon living in the city liked searching for treasures among this clutter.

A black lizard was currently crouching in the alley with burning eyes, staring at the barbecue Mr Brook was preparing.

Drool kept dripping from its mouth.

Mr Brook carried a tray of barbecue out to serve the food, and Salandit immediately rushed out of the alley.

It was just about to spray poisonous smoke at him when a righteous voice rang beside Mr Brook’s ear.

"Gallade, Psychic!"

He turned his head and saw Julian release a dignified Pokémon.

Gallade’s eyes glowed blue as he aimed at a spot not far from him.

Mr Brook was somewhat surprised.

"Julian, what are you doing?"

Salandit’s body was controlled and lifted out of the shadows.

"Mr Brook, this little fellow was preparing to steal the barbecue in your hands."

The cook was also rather surprised.

"Ever since Officer Jenny took office five years ago, Veilstone City hasn’t had a case of wild Pokémon living in the city stealing food for a long time."

"This one... I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before."

Julian nodded.

"Salandit. A Pokémon from the Alola region. There shouldn’t be any Salandit naturally living in the wild in Sinnoh."

Recently, he had not encountered any challengers using Salandit either.

He did not understand why Salandit had been abandoned by its Trainer.

Gallade controlled Salandit and floated it to Julian’s side.

Julian said gently, "Salandit, I have food suitable for you here. Gallade will let you go in a moment."

"Don’t run around. Eat peacefully."

He grabbed a handful of food. Gallade also placed Salandit on the ground and released the Psychic controlling it.

Salandit grabbed the Pokémon food and frantically stuffed it into its mouth.

From Salandit’s behaviour, it had probably been hungry for a long time.

"Mr Brook, call Officer Jenny and have her come take Salandit."

"I understand!"

He nodded, quickly served the food to the customer, then immediately went back to make the call.

Officer Jenny responded very quickly. Her sidecar motorcycle soon stopped at the entrance of the barbecue shop.

Walking into the shop, Officer Jenny saluted Julian.

"Gym Leader Veyne, Mr Brook said you believe this newly abandoned Salandit may create a safety hazard?"

Julian nodded.

"Salandit is Poison and Fire type. Both are types that can easily cause harm, whether by poisoning people or Pokémon, or by starting a fire."

"Either could threaten the safety and health of Veilstone City’s residents. Just now, driven by hunger, it tried to attack Mr Brook and steal food from him. Fortunately, I stopped it in time."

Eevee raised his head.

"Eevee!"

Julian lowered himself and rubbed Eevee’s little head.

"That’s right. It was all thanks to Eevee leading me to Salandit."

Officer Jenny frowned.

"I’ll contact Nurse Joy now and see whether any Trainer carrying Salandit has come to Veilstone City."

Trainers could release Pokémon, but they could not maliciously abandon them.

For example, releasing Sandshrew into a pond, or releasing a Salandit that was not in Sinnoh’s Pokédex into Veilstone City.

Foreign species needed to be returned to their native region before being released.

This Trainer had to be caught and punished severely!

Officer Jenny narrowed her eyes in anger.
