Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 331: Recruiting Talent
While Lone Wolf was busy with the construction of Medical God Island, Chen Qingdi was not idle. He visited many masters of the medical field he knew, inviting them to join the island.
These renowned figures of the medical world were rather arrogant. They were not particularly enthusiastic about Chen Qingdi’s invitation, and some even expressed their intention to refuse.
“So what should we do now?”
Shen Mingyue felt a sense of resignation, seeing Chen Qingdi get rejected yet again.
Chen Qingdi sighed softly. Many people, it seemed, were not optimistic about the project. They didn’t think his group could rebuild the desolate island, even with someone like him—Chen Qingdi—at the helm.
After all, the island had nothing but trees.
Though it was disappointing, Chen Qingdi didn’t give up. He figured the problem was that Medical God Island had once suffered such catastrophic destruction that many people now considered it nothing more than a pile of ruins.
After a moment of thought, an idea suddenly struck Chen Qingdi. “Mingyue,” he said, “why don’t we post a recruitment ad directly in the newspaper?”
“Recruitment?”
“Yes!” Chen Qingdi nodded. “We’ll recruit ambitious and aspiring doctors to join us on Medical God Island.”
Medical God Island was in a difficult spot. It would eventually have an abundance of medicinal herbs and all sorts of equipment, but without any researchers, none of it could be put to use. That was why Chen Qingdi thought of recruiting doctors. Only by bringing doctors on board would Medical God Island truly be complete.
“Excellent idea!” Shen Mingyue gave Chen Qingdi an admiring look before asking, “But who would be willing to join us on Medical God Island?”
A confident smile touched Chen Qingdi’s lips. “The world is full of talented and extraordinary people,” he said. “As long as the incentive is attractive enough, someone is bound to be tempted!”
As Chen Qingdi spoke, his eyes held a sharp glint, as if they could pierce right through a person’s heart, so intimidating that no one dared to meet his gaze.
He was right. No one yet knew the true value of Medical God Island. With its wealth of medicines, it was a treasure trove—a miracle rarely seen in the world.
And who, one might ask, wouldn’t crave such a miracle?
With a plan in mind, Chen Qingdi sought out his old friend, Sun Boqi, at the newspaper office to discuss it.
Sun Bo, the paper’s editor-in-chief, held a very high position. He was a man who spoke his mind, acted with lightning speed and decisiveness, and possessed great courage—a truly rare talent.
“President Sun!”
Seeing Chen Qingdi walk into his office, Sun Bo scrambled to his feet and greeted him eagerly.
“Have a seat! Don’t stand on ceremony,” Chen Qingdi said with a smile and a wave of his hand.
Sun Bo gave a knowing chuckle and sat down.
Chen Qingdi also took a seat on the sofa and got straight to the point, explaining the reason for his visit.
Upon learning Chen Qingdi’s intentions, Sun Bo sank into deep thought. After a long moment, he looked up and said, “Qingdi, I admit you have a point. Medical God Island is certainly worth fighting for, but we also have to consider the practical realities!”
Chen Qingdi frowned. “What are your concerns, President Sun?”
“You know the situation with Medical God Island,” Sun Bo said. “I’d wager you can’t find more than a handful of people in all of Daxia Country who are as skilled in medicine as you. If we rely solely on recruiting doctors, it’ll be far too inefficient. I’m afraid it’ll all be a wasted effort in the end.”
Hearing Sun Bo’s words, Chen Qingdi took a deep breath. “What if we just recruit ordinary physicians? I’m not demanding that they possess exceptionally high medical skills.”
“You’re not demanding a high level of skill?” Sun Bo’s eyes widened as he stared at Chen Qingdi in disbelief.
“That’s right!” Chen Qingdi said slowly. “I just want to recruit some ambitious young people who are willing to work hard. I hope they can make this succeed!”
Chen Qingdi hoped to establish Medical God Island as a platform, providing an arena for those passionate about the medical arts to showcase their talents.
But Chen Qingdi wasn’t solely focused on the end result; he wanted to use this recruitment drive to gather more and more talent under his banner.
‘He wanted to forge Medical God Island into a top-tier global medical organization!’
Of course, this initial vision was limited to the people under his command. If he were just hiring regular employees, he would rather spend the money to headhunt doctors with transcendent medical skills from elsewhere.
After all, true talent is something you stumble upon, not something you can simply go out and find.
“Qingdi,” Sun Bo said, his face etched with worry, “you may not realize this, but once Medical God Island is established, we’ll be taking on enormous risks. We’ll have to face threats from external powers, and we’ll also need to prevent other groups from trying to kick us while we’re down!”
Chen Qingdi shook his head and smiled faintly. “Of course, I’ve already considered that. That’s why we won’t be standing alone. We are going to become an allied power, to jointly resist external enemies!”
“Oh, I see!”
Sun Bo hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to put his trust in Chen Qingdi. “Alright,” he said. “Since you’ve made up your mind, I’ll naturally support you. Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll write up an article and have it published. We’ll do our best to attract some ambitious people to Medical God Island!”
“Then I’ll be counting on you,” Chen Qingdi said, clasping his hands in a gesture of thanks.
“It’s nothing,” Sun Bo said, waving his hand to indicate that Chen Qingdi didn’t need to stand on ceremony.
As soon as the report on Medical God Island’s recruitment drive was released, it immediately caused a massive uproar online. Most people believed it was just a publicity stunt by Chen Qingdi.
“Hah, do they really think a brand-new company can rise to prominence in such a short time? How naive!”
“Exactly. A company that can’t even establish a proper hospital is dreaming of creating some ‘Medical God Island’? It’s absolutely ridiculous!”
“I bet the Chen Group has no money to actually invest in Medical God Island. They’re just using this recruitment drive to lure people into working for them!”
“Haha… I bet he wants to trick a bunch of ordinary folks who don’t know the first thing about medicine. That way, he can get his Medical God Island built on the cheap.”
Online discussions about Medical God Island were rampant, and all the major media outlets began to follow the story with their own reports.
Naturally, this news reached Chen Qingdi’s ears.
When he saw the major media outlets picking Medical God Island apart, he didn’t get angry at all. Instead, he simply chuckled in amusement.
‘The more heated the media discussion, the bigger the splash it was making. He was sure that, in the end, people would be eager to join.’
Just as Chen Qingdi had predicted, the effect of the ad was unexpectedly good. Within a few days, the recruitment notice was splashed across the front pages of major newspapers, sending a huge wave across all of Daxia.
Countless people were driven into a frenzy, all hoping to join a platform like Medical God Island. The vast majority of them were drawn by the promise of prestige.
In the eyes of some, prestige was far more important than money.
Many medical post-graduates, and even some famous physicians, began seeking opportunities to join Medical God Island, ready to make their mark. The reason they were so desperate was their belief that if they joined the island, their future achievements would be nothing short of glorious.
Seeing the enthusiastic crowds clamoring to join, a gratified smile spread across Chen Qingdi’s face. He was confident that, at this rate, the future of Medical God Island was only going to get brighter.
