Peerless Medical Emperor

Chapter 330: Rebuilding Medical God Island

After reassuring Xiao Dashan, Chen Qingdi told him to hide for a while.

That evening, Chen Qingdi stood on the top floor of the Mingyue Group headquarters, gazing out at the sprawling metropolis below. His mind was filled with thoughts of Medical God Island—the place where he had grown up…

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK. A series of knocks broke his train of thought. Just then, the office door swung open, and a figure walked in. “Chairman, you called for me?”

Chen Qingdi turned around. In his line of sight stood a middle-aged man dressed in a black shirt and slacks, wearing gold-rimmed glasses. He had a refined, scholarly air about him, projecting a sense of humility and warmth, but it was all a facade for Lone Wolf.

“Come take a look. The Mingyue Group headquarters is the tallest building in the entire city,” Chen Qingdi said, pointing out the window.

“Right.” Lone Wolf nodded, his gaze following Chen Qingdi’s out the window. Below, high-rises shot up from the ground, glittering like a constellation of stars. Yet, compared to the Mingyue Group headquarters, they all seemed rather small.

Seeing Chen Qingdi’s slightly furrowed brow, Lone Wolf guessed that something must be weighing on his mind.

The two had been through countless life-and-death situations together. Their relationship had long transcended that of a mere superior and subordinate; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call them brothers forged in adversity. Because of this, there were few reservations between them, and Lone Wolf certainly wasn’t about to be intimidated by a sudden shift in Chen Qingdi’s demeanor.

Lone Wolf slowly walked over to face Chen Qingdi, pulled up a chair, and sat down. “What’s going on?”

“Sigh…” Chen Qingdi let out a long breath and finally voiced the thought he had been mulling over.

“You know… I’ve always considered Medical God Island my home. Even though I can’t stay there for long periods anymore, the thought of it lying in ruins is just… heartbreaking. Besides, I promised Master I would look after Medical God Island, and I failed,” Chen Qingdi said, his voice laced with helplessness.

Realizing Chen Qingdi was agonizing over Medical God Island, Lone Wolf fell silent as well. He, too, was from the island, so he naturally shared the same sense of heartbreak and loss.

Just as Lone Wolf was wondering how to console him, Chen Qingdi suddenly clapped him on the shoulder. “The real reason I called you here today is to ask for your help. I want you to help me rebuild Medical God Island. Are you willing?”

At those words, Lone Wolf’s head shot up. He stared at Chen Qingdi in utter shock, as if he had misheard. After a moment of stunned silence, he finally asked, “Chairman, did you just say you want *me* to rebuild Medical God Island?”

“That’s right.”

“Chairman, do you have any idea how much it would cost to rebuild Medical God Island? The construction fees alone would be enough to buy dozens of skyscrapers like this one!” Lone Wolf said with a wry smile.

Chen Qingdi gently shook his head. “I don’t care about the cost. I *will* rebuild Medical God Island!”

His vision went beyond simply rebuilding. Chen Qingdi intended to transform Medical God Island into a hub for the world’s greatest medical minds, providing an unparalleled environment for medical research.

“Chairman, are you serious? Do you realize the sheer scale of this project? I’m afraid the initial investment is more than even Mingyue Group can handle!”

Lone Wolf was right. The capital required to rebuild Medical God Island was immense; this was no small undertaking.

“Just get it done,” Chen Qingdi said calmly. “I’ll handle the rest.”

With that, Chen Qingdi took out a check for ten million US Dollars and handed it to Lone Wolf. “Take this. If it’s not enough, let me know.”

Taking the check, Lone Wolf drew a deep breath and nodded solemnly. “Chairman, you can rest assured. Leave it to me. I’ll make sure it’s done perfectly!”

“Good.” Chen Qingdi nodded, pleased. “I have complete faith in you. I’ll give you six months. I’ll be waiting for good news.”

Lone Wolf chuckled and shook his head. “Six months? You must be underestimating me. Give me three, and I guarantee the job will be done.”

Chen Qingdi raised an eyebrow. Seeing Lone Wolf’s confident expression, his own face grew serious. “I am placing immense importance on this project. I expect you to give it your absolute all.”

“Heh, what’s this? Losing faith in me? Or are you just worrying too much? Don’t worry, Chairman. This time, failure is not an option,” Lone Wolf said, thumping his chest in a gesture of assurance.

Chen Qingdi nodded once more, then waved a hand, dismissing him.

Watching Lone Wolf’s retreating back, Chen Qingdi murmured to himself, ‘Lone Wolf, you’ve had it tough all these years.’

His bond with Lone Wolf was that of a brother; they would take a bullet for each other. That was why he felt completely at ease entrusting him with the reconstruction of Medical God Island.

Meanwhile, after returning to Medical God Island with the blueprints from Chen Qingdi, Lone Wolf gathered the island’s few remaining survivors and told them the news.

“Is this for real?”

Some were skeptical, suspecting Lone Wolf was lying. After all, rebuilding Medical God Island required a massive investment.

“It’s from the boss. Would he lie?”

The group fell silent.

Medical God Island was a hallowed ground for medicine, and they were its faithful disciples. They yearned daily for the island to be restored to its former glory. If it truly could be rebuilt, what would they not give—even their very lives?

“I understand!”

“I believe you!”

“Good. Everyone, to your posts. Preparations begin immediately.”

“Yes, sir!” the group replied in unison, then scattered to their tasks.

As he watched them go, Lone Wolf breathed a quiet sigh of relief.

He had gathered the island’s survivors so quickly not just to leverage their skills in refining the plan, but also to recruit reliable personnel to help with the reconstruction.

Lone Wolf knew rebuilding Medical God Island was a colossal task. To think he could do it alone was pure fantasy; he had to rely on outside help.

He knew Chen Qingdi had placed great hope in this endeavor, but he was also keenly aware that rebuilding Medical God Island could not be accomplished overnight.

He needed help, and the group of survivors right here on the island was the perfect resource to get the reconstruction underway.

With everyone’s help, Lone Wolf’s operation was soon running smoothly. To accelerate the project, he also hired numerous material suppliers and construction crews.

Medical God Island was located off the southeastern coast of Daxia, roughly 600 kilometers from the mainland. As per Chen Qingdi’s plan, the reconstruction was divided into three phases.

The first phase was a complete redesign of the layout. The second phase was to expand the total built-up area.

Medical God Island covered an area of approximately 8,000 mu—about 1,317 acres—with a total floor space of around 5,000 square meters. An area this vast required careful planning.

The third and final phase was to reconstruct the main gate and the ancestral hall, as both held immense significance for Medical God Island.

…

Time flew by.

「In the blink of an eye, more than a month had passed.」

A significant portion of Medical God Island was already rebuilt, and the project was now in its second phase: expanding the total area of construction. However, due to a scarcity of building materials, the expansion was proceeding much slower than anticipated.

Even so, the island was already beginning to recapture the magnificent air of its former glory.

When Chen Qingdi saw the progress photos Lone Wolf sent, he felt a deep sense of gratification. It seemed the great weight on his heart would soon be lifted.
