Chapter 315: Recruiting on the Outer Island

When Qian Laoliu heard this, a glimmer of firmness and resolve flashed in his eyes. He took a deep breath. "Cyan Emperor, rest assured. I will not fail to live up to your expectations."

Chen Qingdi nodded and continued.

"Also, I want to recruit more mercenaries from the Outer Island for the corps. We need to give these people generous compensation and put them through rigorous, hellish training. At the same time, we need to post our own list of services. We'll only take on jobs from the Outer Island, performing assassinations for some of its wealthy merchants and villains."

Upon hearing this, a flicker of doubt crossed Qian Laoliu's eyes. "Cyan Emperor, why would we take on this kind of work?"

The Cyan Emperor smiled. "It's not that we enjoy this kind of work, but that the situation forces our hand. The mainland is currently in turmoil, and we must prepare for our future survival. These jobs from the Outer Island will be a vital source of income for us."

After hearing the Cyan Emperor's explanation, Qian Laoliu's doubts vanished into thin air. He thumped his chest forcefully. "Cyan Emperor, you can count on me. I definitely won't let you down."

Chen Qingdi smiled in satisfaction. He knew his plan was already halfway to success. All he had to do now was wait for good news from Qian Laoliu.

Time passed quickly, and several days went by in a flash.

During this time, Qian Laoliu was busy integrating and training the Mercenary Corps. He patrolled the compound daily, interacting with the mercenaries to boost their morale. He also began to actively recruit new mercenaries from the Outer Island.

Most of these mercenaries from the Outer Island were veterans with extensive combat experience.

Although they were initially skeptical of this Mercenary Corps, their doubts were gradually dispelled by Qian Laoliu's meticulous arrangements.

On a quiet afternoon, Chen Qingdi sat in his office, enjoying a brief respite.

His company had expanded to every corner of the globe, and he himself was renowned in the business world. However, his peace was shattered that afternoon by a phone call from Thomas, a merchant from the Outer Island.

"Hello, Mr. Chen. This is Thomas." The voice on the other end of the line was filled with a merchant's characteristic cunning and directness.

Chen Qingdi's reply was calm and firm. "Mr. Thomas, your voice sounds familiar, but I must remind you, I don't make house calls. If you want to discuss mercenary business, you're welcome to come to my company. We can sit down and have a proper discussion."

Thomas seemed displeased with Chen Qingdi's response. His voice grew heavy. "Mr. Chen, I'm offering thirty million US Dollars. Just come to me, and we can talk in person."

A slight smile touched the corner of Chen Qingdi's mouth. His reply was exceptionally firm.

"Mr. Thomas, your offer doesn't change my principles. No matter how much money you offer, unless you come to my company, a face-to-face meeting is impossible."

On the other end of the line, Thomas was practically hopping mad. His voice grew even heavier. "Chen Qingdi, what on earth are you thinking? Do you have any idea how much I'm offering? Thirty million US Dollars!"

Chen Qingdi's voice remained as calm as still water. "I am aware of your offer, Mr. Thomas. However, my decision will not change. If you wish to discuss mercenary business with me, you are welcome at my company."

Thomas was silent on the other end for a moment, then his voice turned somewhat dejected. "Alright, Chen Qingdi, I'll come to your company. But you should know, this is the last time I compromise."

Chen Qingdi was rather pleased to hear this. He knew Thomas was a renowned businessman; a decision like this wouldn't be made just to compromise.

This meant he was serious about cooperating with the Mingyue Group. And so, Chen Qingdi began to plan for his meeting with Thomas.

When Thomas arrived at the Mingyue Group, Chen Qingdi greeted him warmly. Thomas looked a bit weary but still maintained the polite caution of a merchant. They entered the conference room and began their talk.

"Mr. Chen, thank you for seeing me," Thomas began. "I believe we can come to an understanding regarding mercenary business."

Chen Qingdi smiled. "Of course, Mr. Thomas. The Mingyue Group has always been dedicated to providing our clients with the highest quality service. The mercenary business is an important part of what we offer."

Thomas looked a little excited. "In that case, I believe we can discuss the specific details of our cooperation."

「Two days later.」

Thomas and Chen Qingdi met as scheduled at a coffee shop downstairs from the Mingyue Group. Thomas sat by the window, watching the pedestrians on the street while privately mulling over his plan.

A short while later, Chen Qingdi appeared at the coffee shop's entrance. He was wearing a black suit and a pair of sunglasses, looking quite mysterious.

Thomas immediately stood up and waved him over.

After they were seated, Thomas got straight to the point. "President Chen, I've sought you out because I want to hire you to assassinate someone."

Chen Qingdi's brow furrowed. He knew he was about to hear an extraordinary story. He asked, "Who is this person? And why do you want him dead?"

Thomas took out a photograph and placed it on the table. Chen Qingdi picked it up and saw it was an older man who didn't look very friendly.

"Who is this?" Chen Qingdi asked again.

"He's my father, Thompson," Thomas replied.

Chen Qingdi was stunned. He hadn't expected the person Thomas wanted dead was his own father. He asked, "Why do you want to kill your father?"

Thomas took a deep breath and said,

"As a father, he is utterly shameless. He and my wife, Nina, are having an affair. Even after I caught them, they carried on without any restraint. For a man like that, killing him is only what he deserves."

Chen Qingdi was inwardly shocked. He had no idea such a scandal was brewing within this family. He asked, "How much are you prepared to pay?"

"Thirty million US Dollars," Thomas answered.

Chen Qingdi mentally mulled over the price. He knew the amount was well beyond his usual asking price.

But he also knew Thomas was no ordinary person, and that he probably had his reasons.

"I need more details," Chen Qingdi said. "For instance, your father's movements, his daily schedule, and so on."

Thomas nodded. He knew this information was crucial for an assassination. He then began to reveal what he knew to Chen Qingdi.

"My father usually gets home around 8 PM. He has a habit of going to the gym to work out before coming home. The gym is near our house, but I'm not sure of the exact location."
