Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 313: Planning a Mercenary Corps
Kojima Tetsumaro sucked in a sharp, pained breath. He never imagined his younger brother would actually strike him.
But he knew this was no time for explanations. He quickly bolted for the exit, trying to escape the dangerous place.
Kojima Hideko was startled to see his older brother injured, but he didn't stop. He continued the chase, intent on teaching his brother another lesson.
The two began a chase through the courtyard. Though injured, Kojima Tetsumaro was a well-trained warrior. He dodged his younger brother's attacks while trying to reason with him.
"Brother, calm down! Let me explain!"
In the office of a large corporation, Kojima Hideko held the head of his brother, Kojima Tetsumaro, and made a request to Chen Qingdi.
"President Chen, I've brought you his head to prove my worth. Can you give me a position in your company?" Kojima Hideko asked.
Chen Qingdi looked at Kojima Hideko with a sense of weary resignation. 'This Kojima Hideko... he's truly ruthless. To think he actually slaughtered his own brother.'
"Our Bright Moon Company is expanding its operations, and we happen to be recruiting a group of mercenaries for the Outer Island," Chen Qingdi said with a smile. "If you're willing, you can do the recruiting yourself. I'll make you the captain of the Mercenary Corps, in charge of missions on the Outer Island. How about it?"
At this point, Kojima Hideko had burned all his bridges. He had no choice but to agree.
"I'm willing!" Kojima Hideko answered firmly.
Chen Qingdi nodded and handed Kojima Hideko a contract. "Then sign it."
Kojima Hideko took the contract and read it carefully. It detailed Bright Moon Company's expansion plans, including the specifics of recruiting mercenaries and his own duties.
He marveled to himself. 'This is an incredible opportunity. It's not just a job; it's a chance to showcase my abilities.'
"President Chen, I'll give it my all," Kojima Hideko said resolutely.
"Excellent," Chen Qingdi said with a smile. "I'm confident you'll do a great job."
After Kojima Hideko signed the contract, Chen Qingdi further explained the company's plans and objectives. Bright Moon Company was a major corporation with interests in multiple sectors. Now, they were planning to expand into the Outer Island region and needed a powerful mercenary force to protect their interests there.
"Our goal is to build a powerful mercenary force to execute our missions in the Outer Island region."
Chen Qingdi continued, "Your job will be to recruit, train, and manage them, ensuring they perform at peak level during missions."
Kojima Hideko nodded. He understood his duties and the mission. Though he had no leadership experience, he was confident his ability and determination would be enough to succeed in this role.
"I will do everything in my power to complete this mission," Kojima Hideko said with conviction.
Chen Qingdi nodded. "Good. I'm confident you'll do a great job."
As Kojima Hideko left the office, his heart swelled with anticipation and confidence. He knew this was a rare opportunity, a new beginning for his life. He was certain he could handle the position and become an outstanding mercenary captain.
Now, Chen Qingdi faced an important decision. He needed a mercenary team to execute a mission, and Kojima Hideko was the ideal candidate.
"I'm going to appoint Kojima Hideko as the mercenary team captain." Chen Qingdi's tone was flat, as if he were discussing a routine business transaction.
Chen Yuan, however, frowned. "Boss, I know Kojima Hideko is an excellent mercenary, but he was our enemy. Are you really going to trust him unconditionally? Aren't you worried he'll turn on us?"
"Kojima Hideko served in the Outer Island's special forces. His military skills are top-tier. Besides, Mingyue Group needs someone like him," Chen Qingdi cut him off, a decisive glint in his eyes.
"Boss, I understand, but he killed his own brother. A man like that may have lost his humanity. I'm worried he'll become a threat from within," Chen Yuan said, his concern palpable.
Chen Qingdi smiled at him. "Chen Yuan, this is where we differ. Kojima Hideko is a ruthless man. His decisiveness and courage are exactly what Mingyue Group needs. Besides, we can use him."
"Use him?" Chen Yuan asked, confused.
"Yes, use him. The mercenary team is part of Mingyue Group. We need them to complete missions, not become a burden. Whether Kojima Hideko survives the mission... well, that's up to fate."
Chen Qingdi's tone was cold, as if he were discussing a war that had nothing to do with him.
"If he survives, he'll bring great profit to Mingyue Group. If he doesn't, then dying on the Outer Island is a fitting end. It wouldn't be a waste of his talents," Chen Qingdi said, the corner of his lip curling into a cold smirk.
Chen Yuan fell silent for a moment, then lowered his head. "Boss, I understand. I will give Kojima Hideko my full support."
Chen Qingdi nodded, satisfied. "That's the right attitude. You need to remember, Mingyue Group doesn't just need talent. We need talent that creates value for us."
Not long after, Kojima Hideko was appointed captain of the mercenary team, leading his elite soldiers to the mission area.
His past and present became a topic of gossip, but no one questioned his ability or his resolve.
Whenever anyone at Mingyue Group mentioned Kojima Hideko, they called him a ruthless man, a man who got the job done. For Mingyue Group, that was all that mattered.
During the mission, Kojima Hideko demonstrated astonishing skill and courage. He led his mercenaries through all manner of dangers and hardships, always remaining calm and decisive.
His very presence became a source of pride and hope for Mingyue Group.
However, just as the mission neared completion, disaster struck. Kojima Hideko was ambushed by the enemy and gravely wounded. Despite fighting with all his might, he could not escape his fate.
When the news arrived, a somber silence fell over Mingyue Group. Chen Qingdi listened to the report without a word.
Chen Yuan watched him, his heart filled with worry and regret. 'He knew this decision had been a mistake.'
They shouldn't have sent Kojima Hideko on this mission, and they certainly shouldn't have just used him. Because in doing so, they had lost a truly talented man.
Just then, however, a mercenary returned from the mission site. He brought Kojima Hideko's last words.
"I am a mercenary. I take responsibility for my choices. And I am still grateful for the absolute trust President Chen placed in me." These words were a testament to his conviction and determination, his honor and his dignity.
After hearing this, Chen Qingdi took a deep breath. "So, that is the final message Kojima Hideko left us. I will remember him."
