Pampering Discarded Heroines Triggers My 10,000x Rebate System
Chapter 167: Extinction-Class
Elder Brandon Caldwell walked down the carpeted steps toward the center podium, holding the petition in both hands.
His velvet robes rustled against the stone floor, his round chest puffed out with confidence. He placed the dossier on the lectern, adjusted his gold-embroidered cuffs, and looked up at Grand Arbiter Raymond Kincaid behind the high iron bench.
"Grand Arbiter, esteemed members of the High Council," Caldwell began, projecting his voice across the crowded amphitheater. "I stand before you to invoke Imperial Emergency Herbaria Statute Section Fourteen."
Caldwell gestured with an open hand toward the sovereign box across the aisle, his lips curling into an arrogant smirk.
"For over two years, the twelve-acre botanical preserve known as the Vesper Conservatory in District 3 has sat abandoned," Caldwell declared. "Its greenhouses are dark, its mana soil is neglected, and the estate remains burdened by fourteen million eight hundred thousand dollars in outstanding municipal court liens."
Whispers broke out among the guild leaders and noble spectators seated in the tiered rows above.
"With the increased rift activities in the capital lately, the empire cannot afford to leave critical Grade-A botanical territory in the hands of an inactive, bankrupt estate," Caldwell continued, raising his voice.
"Furthermore, the sole deed-holder of record, Calista Vesper, has failed to appear before this council today. She remains an incapacitated invalid, leaving the grounds without active management.
"Therefore, on behalf of the High Commerce Bureau and five certified merchant noble houses, I formally petition the High Council for an immediate Order of Sovereign Requisition. Strip the deed, seal the gates, and place the preserve into state receivership."
Caldwell bowed to the bench with a smug smile. Next to him, the five merchant lords grinned, sure that no one could stop the takeover while the heir was absent.
Grand Arbiter Raymond Kincaid looked down from the black iron bench, his weathered face showing no emotion. He checked the docket in his hands, then looked down across the sovereign front row.
"The chair acknowledges that Lady Calista Vesper is the sole registered deed-holder of House Vesper," Kincaid spoke. "Is there any certified legal representative or commercial partner authorized to answer for the estate?"
Evren rose to his feet with relaxed composure, resting one hand against the polished rail of the sovereign box.
"Apex Conglomerate answers for House Vesper," Evren said. "Under a certified commercial partnership and filing proxy signed by Lady Calista Vesper. Apex submitted two official exhibits to the Council Secretariat’s morning docket, Exhibits One and Two."
Kincaid turned toward the chief clerk seated below the high bench. "Bring up Exhibit One on the chamber screens."
The clerk typed on his terminal, verifying the imperial cryptographic seal against the court registry. A second later, the document expanded across Kincaid’s monitor and mirrored onto the massive central display above the hall.
It was an official certificate bearing the deep purple wax seal of the Imperial Municipal Court.
"Exhibit One is a Certificate of Full Lien Satisfaction," Evren stated plainly, gesturing toward the screen. "At ten-fifteen last night, fourteen million eight hundred thousand dollars was deposited in certified bank funds directly into the court’s judicial escrow. Under Imperial Commercial Code Section Forty-Two, the liens filed by former director Gavin Vance were discharged in full. House Vesper owes zero debt to any entity in this empire."
Caldwell’s smirk began to slip. His brow furrowed, his fingers tightening against the edges of the podium as he stared at the purple court seal glowing on the main screen.
"Clerk, pull up Exhibit Two," Evren added.
The clerk entered the second docket number, and the display flipped to the next verified file. Stamped across the top in fresh blue ink was the official seal of the Imperial Commerce Registry, time-stamped at eight o’clock that morning.
Beneath the seal was the registered corporate charter for Starlight Pharmaceuticals, bearing the signature of Calista Vesper as Founder and sole owner, backed by an active research partnership with Apex Conglomerate.
"The conservatory is not an abandoned ruin," Evren said. "It is the certified headquarters and cultivation ground of Starlight Pharmaceuticals, registered and operational under imperial law. There is no debt; there is no dormancy."
Evren looked across the aisle at Caldwell with cold, dismissive eyes.
"Elder Caldwell brought an emergency seizure petition against an active, debt-free pharmaceutical preserve," Evren concluded. "In any other court, that is called attempted fraud."
The amphitheater erupted.
Dozens of guild masters leaned over the stone railings, laughing in disbelief. Silas Drake snorted loudly from his box, crossing his arms with clear amusement.
Beside Caldwell’s empty seat, the five merchant lords blanched, shrinking into their coats and looking away in total humiliation.
Caldwell stood frozen at the podium. His face turned a mottled shade of red, sweat beading on his forehead as he fumbled with the pages in front of him.
"This... this is an irregular maneuver!" Caldwell stammered, his voice rising in desperation. "The registry window opened only two hours ago! This filing was engineered to deceive the bench..."
CLANG!
The heavy black iron gavel slammed down onto the sounding block like a cannon shot. The loud crack echoed through the room, silencing everyone in an instant.
Grand Arbiter Kincaid leaned forward over the bench, fixing his eyes on Caldwell with pure, suffocating pressure.
"The court’s seal is authentic. The registry timestamp is verified," Kincaid said flatly. "The debt does not exist. The preserve is legally chartered. Elder Caldwell, your petition is denied as baseless."
"Grand Arbiter..."
"Take your seat, Elder," Kincaid cut him off. "This council has no time to waste on manufactured squabbles while the continent stands on the brink of an abyss."
Caldwell opened his mouth, but under Kincaid’s glare, the words died in his throat. Grabbing his useless gilded dossier, Caldwell hurried back toward his row with his head down, sinking into his chair in complete disgrace.
Kincaid didn’t look at him again. He pressed a control on the iron bench.
The overhead lights of the amphitheater dimmed, plunging the stone hall into shadow.
From the center of the chamber floor, a massive holographic projector hummed to life. High-resolution blue and green topographical lines projected upward into the vaulted ceiling, forming a three-dimensional map of the empire’s continental tectonic shelf.
"Three days ago, our deep-crust seismic arrays recorded baseline geothermal activity beneath the Astral Trench," Kincaid said, his voice dropping into grim authority.
He touched the console. The map shifted, advancing seventy-two hours through an automated time-lapse.
"This was yesterday morning," Kincaid continued.
Across the bottom of the map, a cluster of deep-earth fault lines turned a bright, warning yellow. Mana density readings spiked by two hundred percent along the oceanic ridge.
"This was yesterday evening."
The yellow lines warped into deep red. Magma conduits beneath the tectonic shelf fractured, fusing with dense veins of raw, pressurized mana. The temperature curves skyrocketed, bleeding into dark violet anomalies.
"And this," Kincaid said, advancing the data feed to the present, "was recorded one hour ago."
A collective gasp rippled through the amphitheater.
On the holographic display, the crimson and violet fractures had merged into a single, colossal tear spreading across a ninety-mile radius beneath the seabed. Deep purple shockwaves pulsed outward in steady, rhythmic waves, warping the spatial grid on the monitors.
The mana pressure reading at the core flashed an impossible, blinding number that made veteran commanders go pale.
Silas Drake pushed himself upright in his seat. Across the aisles, high-ranking guild masters stared at the pulsing map with dread.
Beside Evren, Zephyra’s fingers tightened on the edge of the desk, her dark glasses catching the violet glare of the holographic tear.
Grand Arbiter Kincaid stepped down from behind the bench, standing at the edge of the stone platform above the assembly.
"This is unlike anything our scanners have ever recorded," Kincaid declared. "This is not an ordinary dimensional breach. This is an Extinction-Class Super-Rift."
