Chapter 1405: The Outcome Is Decided
Chapter 1405: Chapter 1405: The Outcome Is Decided
The reason Delacuri was so flustered, besides the rapidly deteriorating situation that threatened his life, was also because the blood poison previously injected by Pei Yan had erupted within him!
In his conversation with Pei Yan, he showed extreme disdain for the blood poison crafted by Du Guangyuan. Half of what he said was to deceive his opponent, the other half was true. If he were at his peak strength, such blood poison would indeed be insignificant, at most causing a slight headache. As long as he could break free and have some time, he could completely dissolve it. No matter how extraordinary Du Guangyuan’s talent was, the huge power gap between them, along with Du Guangyuan’s self-assured meticulous preparation, was not worth mentioning in Delacuri’s eyes.
However, the situation was now vastly different. The deadliness of the blood poison lay in its difficulty to cure. Even with multiple uses of injury transfer techniques, Delacuri couldn’t remove it. After successive fierce battles, his physical condition worsened. The blood poison, once easily suppressed, had now become his life-taking talisman. After using half of his bloodline essence to create the Blood of Sin Punishment to trap Pei Yan and then suffering another severe injury, he could no longer suppress the full-scale eruption of the blood poison within him.
"Cough! Cough! Ugh~!" Delacuri struggled to stand but a mouthful of fresh blood spewed uncontrollably from his mouth. As the scarlet liquid touched the ground, plumes of red smoke rose up, and the ground sizzled as if what Delacuri spat was not blood but molten lava.
Seeing this scene, Hu Jiu, who was initially preparing to attack, was stunned. His attack wouldn’t produce such an effect! What kind of trick was Delacuri playing? Was he trying to deceive him? With these thoughts, Hu Jiu turned his head to look at Pei Yan with an inquisitive gaze.
"His blood poison has acted up! Hahaha! Hu Jiu, you don’t have to worry about him! If he doesn’t move, neither should you. Just guard me! If he attempts to attack or escape, delay him. I’ll soon free myself from this seal." Pei Yan, seeing the scene, immediately understood what had happened. With such effects from the expelled blood, one could imagine the agony Delacuri was enduring.
Pei Yan and Hu Jiu did not launch an attack, nor did Delacuri make any further attempts. He just forced himself to stand straight, slightly closed his eyes, and for a moment, the isolated space, after a series of intense battles, suddenly fell silent. The only sounds in the space were Delacuri’s labored breathing as he fought heavy injuries and the grating screech as Pei Yan broke free from the blood chains.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The sound of one blood-colored chain after another snapping broke the brief peace. Tearing loose the last chain binding him, a great swell of bloodline essence surged back into Pei Yan’s body. A tumult of chaotic memories not his own, as well as some Blood Race spell usage, flooded his mind. Only then did he realize that the Blood Race’s inheritance bore some resemblance to the legendary anointment of enlightenment, except that the Daoist rely on mental inheritance while the Blood Race conducts direct bloodline transmission through clan rituals.
"Hehehe, I never expected to receive such a great gift from you at the end." Pei Yan said as he held his throbbing head, his body swaying unsteadily. Seeing his condition, Hu Jiu quickly came to support him. With a hand on Hu Jiu’s shoulder, Pei Yan looked at Delacuri with a smile and asked, "So if I kill you now and take a part of your bloodline essence, I would essentially acquire a part of your abilities, gaining the power to suppress with bloodline the Vlad family, who have lost their leader?"
Upon hearing these words, Delacuri’s already pale face turned even gloomier. Pei Yan had so quickly extracted the information from his bloodline; even more damning, if he couldn’t leave alive, everything Pei Yan said might come true. His mistake this time could plunge the entire Vlad family into a perdition without end.
In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through Vlad’s mind. How to choose, how to make the right decision in such a crisis—the time for contemplation was short, and soon he found the most suitable way.
"Stop playing these boring tricks! Come on! Do what you’ve always wanted to do! The hatred between us needs to reach an end." Having made his decision, Delacuri seemed suddenly to be at peace, opening his arms in a proactive invitation.
"Have you given up resisting?" Pei Yan pushed aside Hu Jiu, the two advancing on Delacuri from left and right, probing with a smile.
"Given up resisting? What are you thinking? I’m the Clan Leader of the Vlad family, a Prince of the Blood Race! Even in death, I’ll die fighting, not waiting to be slaughtered!" Saying this, Delacuri’s figure vanished from its spot, charging directly at the source of his downfall.
Seeing this, Pei Yan smiled slightly. Instead of using any Divine Artifact, he took out a rather crude-looking silver dagger from his pocket, slowly unsheathed its blade, and threw the sheath to the ground, holding the hilt in a reverse grip.
After a brief clash, a thin blood mark appeared at Delacuri’s shoulder and neck. He turned his head to look at the wound, then at Pei Yan, seeing a mocking smile on his face. Delacuri was furious, but before he could vent, another slight pain came from his back. Taking advantage of his brief distraction, Hu Jiu used the Wolf Fang Dagger to leave a wound on his back.
Thus, neither Pei Yan nor Hu Jiu used any special moves, merely depending on ultra-fast moves to neutralize the Blood Race spells Delacuri cast to corrode them, while using their two daggers to inflict wound after wound on Delacuri. Under normal circumstances, Delacuri wouldn’t even care about such wounds. They wouldn’t require him to manipulate source energy; the Blood Race’s inherent talent could instantly heal them. But now, with his situation plummeting and the blood poison in him, every cut was extreme torture; the blood poison kept the wounds from healing for long, and the fresh blood from the wound was like strong acid, corroding anew the skin he just tried to heal, causing blisters to rise around the wounds and burst, again and again.
"Pei Yan! You devil! If you want to kill me, do it cleanly! What’s with the silver knife? Are you treating me like the lowest, filthiest Blood Servant? Are you humiliating me?" After just a brief encounter, dozens of wounds had been cut into Delacuri’s body, and they continued to multiply. He had become a blood gourd with his skin pockmarked and tattered, showing none of the calm dignity from when he first entered the independent space. Facing two people who silently continued to cut him with small knives, he let out a cry of despair and rage.
"Indeed! I am humiliating you! Do you think you’re worthy to speak of the dignity that a gentleman can only be killed, not humiliated? Are you worthy?"
