Chapter 1395: Chapter 1395: Provocation

As the eerie disk rose higher, the negative emotions plaguing Pei Yan were magnified even more. And when the disk reached the apex in the sky, it transformed into a blood-colored moon enveloping the entire space. Under this scarlet moonlight, Pei Yan and his companions were greatly affected, while the Blood Race became energized and their strength increased substantially. Not only that, the blood-colored seeds scattered in the independent space, as if fertilized and stimulated, wildly sprouted into blood-colored vines quickly covering the ground. On these vines that continuously wove upwards towards the blood moon, hung blood-colored spheres that Pei Yan found utterly repulsive.

Is this what Delacuri refers to as his Divine Country? That disk must be a Divine Artifact, and one of a very high rank. If the method Delacuri used earlier to transfer damage also relied on a Divine Artifact, then he must be carrying at least two Divine Artifacts, which aligns with his identity as the Clan Leader of the foremost family of the Blood Race. A top expert in the Heavenly Dao is indeed not easy to kill.

"Huh! Is that all you’ve got?" Pei Yan reconstructed his own defensive source energy, forced himself to continue, and lifted a corner of his face guard to reveal a derisive smile at Delacuri.

"Ah! It seems you still haven’t realized the severity of the situation!" Facing Pei Yan’s provocation, Delacuri shook his head, waved his hand, and another blood-colored longsword congealed within his grasp. The blood-colored vines, stimulated by his ability, swayed with his hand movements, shedding more blood-colored dust that either drifted to the ground or started enveloping Pei Yan and the others.

"Alchemy Puppets are indeed troublesome opponents for our Blood Race, but only for the mid-to-low-level Blood Race." Delacuri said, extending his hand to the nearest vine, caressing a pulsing blood-colored fruit on it with a sneer: "These little things can grant living properties to objects with spiritual qualities. In other words, as long as something is driven by source energy, even if it is lifeless, under the contamination of the Blood Disaster, it gains the ability to flow with bloodlines, further assimilating with the contamination to become one. Even a simple Alchemy Puppet is subjected to such an effect, and you, who merely have a Mechanical Puppet exterior, should be more aware than anyone that underneath that exterior hides human bloodlines. As far as the Blood Disaster is concerned, you are only slightly harder to erode than the average cultivator."

"So this disgusting thing is called the Blood Disaster. I see, the Blood Race does at least have a clear understanding of their own nature!" Pei Yan said as he slowly buckled his face guard, once again pulling out the Divine Artifact Revolver from his underarm holster, inconspicuously loading the specially prepared bullets meant for Delacuri into the magazine.

"The things you’ve summoned indeed make things difficult, so if I can’t deal with them temporarily, I might as well directly deal with the source of the trouble. We call this strategy: capture the leader first to capture the bandits!"

With these words, Pei Yan transformed into a streak of lightning, instantly reaching Delacuri’s side. Yet, Delacuri was not surprised at all by Pei Yan’s response, nor did he attempt to vie for supremacy in the moment. Instead, he serenely countered Pei Yan’s offensives, all while nimbly maneuvering among the many blood-colored vines.

This manner of combat proved to be a headache for Pei Yan, not only did he need to pursue and attack Delacuri, but also had to dodge the continuously forming blood-colored monsters that stood as obstacles. During this period, he also had to keep an eye on his mech for contamination issues, decisively abandoning any infected parts when problems arose.

Despite facing such a harsh combat environment, Pei Yan, with his super high-speed movement, managed to hold the upper hand in this relentless chase. When Pei Yan unleashed various deadly strikes, Delacuri would resist if possible, and when he couldn’t, he surprisingly chose to let Pei Yan’s attacks completely shred him to pieces.

Another trick of shifting damage, is it? Looking at the remains in front of him, sliced into fragments by his source energy threads, Pei Yan felt puzzled. No, this isn’t right! Pei Yan quickly denied his own thought; it didn’t feel the same as when he destroyed Delacuri’s body with the annihilation bullet the first time!

With a slight shift of thoughts, Pei Yan sensed Delacuri’s presence reborn in another area. Pei Yan turned his gaze, and indeed, in the direction he stared, a vine burst into segments, and Delacuri emerged from within. Meeting Pei Yan’s astonished eyes, Delacuri smiled faintly and said, "Surprised?"

"Haha! A bit! But considering your infamous reputation for being hard to kill across several major planes, having such tricks is understandable." Pei Yan said, flicking his wrist while tentatively asking: "Can all these blood-colored vines serve as your clones, and your main body can transfer freely during this time?"

"You guess!"

Bam!

Responding to Delacuri was the muffled sound from the revolver. In the next moment, Pei Yan’s figure appeared in front of Delacuri again as the gunshot rang out, and a new round of relentless pursuit commenced. Amidst various attacks and overlapping bullets, Pei Yan occasionally struck Delacuri, who sometimes dodged, sometimes used body transfer laws to evade harm.

When Pei Yan once again annihilated Delacuri’s form, turning to pursue his transfer target, he didn’t move as swiftly as before but instead paused, standing still, because there were two figures materializing before Delacuri’s new position.

"Pei Yan! Here is...."

Boom!

The figure identical to his father didn’t finish a word with its raspy voice before those two blood-colored figures were obliterated by a full-power electromagnetic cannon, reducing them and the nearby blood-colored vines to debris.

"Pei Yan, you’re truly ruthless, aren’t you! You could so mercilessly strike at figures resembling your parents. I disguised them well, matching the bloodline aura and source energy release of your parents! You didn’t hesitate for a second before attacking. Aren’t you afraid they might truly be your parents, and you inadvertently killed them yourself? In terms of being cold towards family, you and I are actually the same!" Delacuri’s mocking voice filled with cold laughter echoed in the space.

Meanwhile, those vines bearing blood-colored fruits transformed into the images of Pei Yan’s parents, sister, and even Wang Ruoqin, every individual who once lived in this region. Watching them express confusion, pain, or give cold sinister laughs, Pei Yan appeared unexpectedly calm, as if relieved. He stowed away the handgun into his body, ignored the risk of blood mist erosion, removed his mechanical face guard, and with one hand retrieved a cigar box from the void. Under Delacuri’s increasingly serious gaze, he clipped the end of the cigar, processed it slowly and deliberately, and placed it in his mouth.
