Chapter 1393: Chapter 1393: Strange Methods

Delacuri’s blood-red longsword clashed briefly with the blade, and the grating sound of metal breaking rang in Pei Yan’s ears. Destroying the enemy’s weapon with a single strike should have delighted Pei Yan, yet both his intuition and Suzi in his mechanical eye signaled danger. Without any hesitation, he propelled himself backward at high speed, retreating even before the longsword completely shattered.

Delacuri did not pursue the retreating Pei Yan but stood calmly, watching the longsword in his hand crack and break into several pieces. As the broken fragments fell, they shattered into bits as fragile as glass upon hitting the ground. A strange, fishy wind swept the sword’s residue away, dispersing it throughout the isolated space.

Something’s odd! Although his power of resonance could shatter the opponent’s weapon, this was a weapon of a Blood Race Prince after all. It shouldn’t break so easily with just one hit. While pondering this, Pei Yan increased his vigilance, tracking all residue with his mechanical eye to prevent any traps set by Delacuri. The sight, however, startled him, making him shudder; were it not for his mechanical state, he would be feeling goosebumps from disgust.

Under the gaze of his mechanical eye, the dispersed powder, guided by the strange wind, landed on soil recently eroded by the blood tides. Touching the residual, blotchy bloodstains, the sword fragments immediately germinated, extracting nutrients. In the span of a breath, they expanded from dust-sized particles to blood-red eggs covered in tiny boils. Even if Pei Yan wasn’t afflicted by trypophobia, the sudden appearance of such objects would send chills down his spine and ignite a strong urge from within to utterly destroy them.

And within a moment, this repulsive creation spread everywhere, covering the entire residential area. When these objects merged, they began transforming into grotesque humanoid shapes and various bizarre forms like wolves, snakes, and lizards. This change didn’t make the perception of these monsters any better. Their bodies remained covered in those densely repulsive boils, lacking proper facial features and resembling a collection of bizarre blood orbs.

"Delacuri, I truly didn’t expect you to have such a twisted taste! Are you trying to disgust me to death with these things? If that’s your intention, I have to say you’ve succeeded! You’ve thoroughly repulsed me!" Pei Yan glared at these bizarre creatures; the extreme aversion from within spawned an uncontrollable urge for slaughter.

"Pei Yan, do you think my transformation into a Sea of Blood was just a bluff? Just to delay using low-tier damage distribution techniques? Ha ha ha! You’re mistaken! If you had forced me out of the Sea of Blood state with a powerful attack earlier, you might have had a chance to win. But now, you’ve stepped into the realm ruled by my Divine Country. Our battle has only just begun." As Delacuri spoke, he bowed elegantly to Pei Yan, like an emcee opening an evening gala, slowly retreating backstage. The monsters, akin to actors emerging onto the stage, swarmed toward Pei Yan under his command.

Watching Delacuri’s exaggerated figure vanish among the monsters, he sat on a giant black high-backed chair summoned by him, casually resting one hand on the armrest and tilting his head as if waiting for Pei Yan and the creatures he summoned to perform a play for him.

Given these actors, a comedy would surely turn into a horror film, Pei Yan thought, staring at the enemy. He had no intention of becoming the ill-fated protagonist of a horror movie. Goaded by Delacuri and disgusted by the bizarre creatures he summoned, Pei Yan could no longer hold back and launched an attack. With a slight movement, hundreds of bullets fired from his fingertips. Each bullet was modified by gun-enhancing supernatural abilities, possessing the power of a small mortar. In no time, the area before Pei Yan turned into a sea of fire, with explosions echoing throughout the isolated space.

Yet, after just one round of bombing, Pei Yan ceased such attacks. Through his Divine Artifact Mechanical Eye, he could clearly see through the dust cloud to assess the explosion’s effect on these creatures. These peculiar monsters were momentarily caught off-guard, blown into gooey puddles by the explosion. However, they swiftly adapted, expanding and regenerating new blood-red orbs from the slime. Concurrently, the survivors formed a hard membrane over their surfaces, gradually becoming more like living beings, no longer sluggish or inflexible. Amidst continuous bombardments, they flexed their newly changed forms and leapt toward Pei Yan.

So fast! Seeing dozens of blood-red shadows closing in, Pei Yan was momentarily stunned. Of course, this speed was not on par with his own super-speed, but it exceeded Pei Yan’s initial assumption that these creatures were akin to Daoist Plane Devouring Demon creatures. Simply in terms of speed, these monsters matched the high-ranking member Lelajin who had battled him first; that was the speed possessed by a superior member of the Demon Race.

"Source Qi Line!"

"Hmm?"

Puzzled, Pei Yan attempted to use Source Qi Line to slice through the enemies, only to witness a perplexing scene. The pure Source Qi Line could indeed harm them, but not as significantly as Pei Yan had anticipated; it only sliced through half their torso and inflicted wounds. Yet, as if devoid of pain, these creatures were minimally hindered by the kind of damage that would incapacitate normal beings. They quickly healed the cuts inflicted by the Source Qi Line and rushed toward Pei Yan. ℯℯ𝑙.

In terms of physical hardness and regeneration capability, they’ve already touched the level of Heavenly Dao!

Pei Yan, though shocked, did not let his hands rest. His initial probing had given him insight into the enemy’s defensive prowess. As he waved his fingers, another series of Source Qi Lines was dispatched like an intricate spider web. This time, he mixed two strands among the Source Qi Lines: one derived from his Divine Artifact Ring capable of transforming into myriad weapons, and another refined from the Divine Artifact Gloves acquired in a battle clearing the White Deer Institute. Encased by Source Qi Lines, these two strands significantly increased in power, reaching an indomitable level.

As Pei Yan dispersed his web, he resembled a hunter seated amid his web, merely waiting for his prey to stumble into his trap.
