Chapter 1351: Irresistible Momentum
Chapter 1351: Chapter 1351: Irresistible Momentum
Pei Yan gazed into the depths of the White Deer Institute’s inner courtyard with furrowed brows. Within the orange-yellow glow, he saw at least three Divine Artifacts. An ordinary-looking brush in the hands of a Heavenly Dao Elder was creating talismans in mid-air without any supplementary materials, casting effects on the defensive wall that matched the Clear Wind Talisman Transformation Sect. Another artifact, a chessboard, was controlled by two elders of the White Deer Institute who appeared to be playing a game in meditation. But every time they placed a piece, a source qi group shaped like a round chess piece would inject into the Protective Array, radiating a light that repaired the nearby cracks. The last artifact was the core of the hastily assembled Protective Array, a silk net thin as a cicada’s wing that tightly connected the array together.
Beyond this line of defense, Pei Yan could already see the spatial teleportation channel being forcibly opened. Even from there, he could still feel the resonance of the artifacts, suggesting that this was the last line of retreat set up by the White Deer Institute, and it seemed they had brought out all their resources.
"Let’s see who can hold out until the end, then!" Pei Yan was very intrigued by the clash between technology and Divine Artifacts. Without further hesitation, he unleashed the electromagnetic power surging within him into the electromagnetic turrets on both sides. The cannon, which had been silent for a moment, roared once more.
Shan Cai Chen and the other elders were not unprepared for casualties within the sect. When they learned from the Beast Taming Institute last night that they had been exposed, they understood that facing the siege of the Immortal Palace, making a clean retreat without sacrifice was impossible. So they decisively eliminated both internal and external observers, even at the risk of revealing the location where a new batch of Devouring Demons was made by the Underworld’s eighteen departments. With the support of a solid Mountain Protection Array and their readiness to fight to the death, they aimed to minimize loss. At the cost of sacrificing all disciples of the lower courtyards, most from the outer courtyard, and a few from the inner courtyard, they sought to transfer the sect’s core strength, hoping to rise again on the Bloodshade Plane.
But Pei Yan ruined it all! It was all destroyed by his bizarre Mechanical Magical Artifact! What on earth was that thing? Was it a Divine Artifact forged by the Hell Demon King to harvest lives? No! That was impossible, because Shan Cai Chen was sure he did not sense any Divine Artifact fluctuations from it. The most eerie part was its lack of any warning from setup to activation! Moreover, only two people could continuously launch it!
In the Daoist Plane, even fellow cultivators like Liu Xuanji and Feng Tianhe considered this as outlandish as hallucinations. They had their methods for dealing with large groups of enemies, but even the highest echelons of the Heavenly Dao, releasing techniques comparable to Forbidden Techniques, needed preparation, gathering the Source Qi of heaven and earth for personal use before converting it into attack spells. Without a special aura-concealing array, it was easy for enemies to discover and target them. Even then, the attack interval couldn’t be so frequent because no matter how strong the top Heavenly Dao might withstand the frequent internal baptism and transformation of Source Qi, the surrounding Source Qi couldn’t sustain this whale-like consumption and devouring.
But Pei Yan overturned all these so-called common knowledge on the Daoist Plane. Liu Xuanji and others had witnessed Pei Yan’s methods, and they vaguely guessed what the black cannon mouth implied. However, what they couldn’t imagine was that the combined forces of a single artillery attack, which they initially viewed as inefficient, could yield such destruction and awe-inspiring results.
Two evil dragons, grazed by bullets, once again ascended from the ground to the sky. Without guidance from those behind them, they wisely evaded the cannonball’s trajectory. With their strength, they suffered only minor injuries from such an attack, like a broken rib bone for the skeletal dragon. However, the disciples within the onslaught of cannon fire, both from the outer and inner courtyards, did not possess such strength. Those who failed to escape to the last defensive group, except for the few clever ones who fled from the sides, were mostly consumed by the sea of fire.
Looking at the glorious academy now reduced to ruins, seeing his sect’s carefully nurtured disciples become cannon fodder, Shan Cai Chen felt a stabbing pain in his heart. What was harder to accept was that such assaults were far from over. The mysterious artillery had unleashed another round of furious roars.
"Pei Yan, you brat! You keep ruining my sect’s grand plans! Your life is forfeit!" With bloodshot eyes and a roar resembling a mad tiger, Shan Cai Chen charged toward Pei Yan’s direction. Driven by his overwhelming hatred for Pei Yan and to ensure the remaining sect members could escape successfully, he must first capture this enemy. Even if he couldn’t kill this brat, he couldn’t let him continue these attacks.
"Stop him! Everyone, protect Pei Yan!" The enemy of my enemy is my hero; Pei Yan had now clearly become the darling of Wangchaizong. He was particularly fond of the Mechanical Magical Artifact unleashing the attacks. If this could be adapted for the army, it would be a peerless weapon! After the battle, an application must be sent to His Majesty the Spirit Emperor to request an exchange to bring this into the army. If that fails, the Mo Sect should explore if they could create a similar artifact; however, these are matters for later. The immediate priority was to ensure Pei Yan’s safety, allowing his fierce cannon barrage to continue unabated.
Even without Wangchaizong’s command, those on the battlefield clearly understood the situation. As Shan Cai Chen moved, his path was blocked by Mo Baiqi and Liu Xuanji. Watching the furious Shan Cai Chen and then the devastation of the White Deer Institute, the accumulated anger within Liu Xuanji finally found some release. While brandishing his sword to obstruct, he loudly praised, "Good! Well done! Satisfying! Pei Yan, keep blasting them until these traitors are ground to dust. Later, I will invoke soul-binding suppression on this land to make their spirits suffer eternally until they dissipate completely."
"Liu Xuanji, you’re courting death!" cursed Shan Cai Chen with fervent anger, waving his judge’s brush in a fury.
"Old scoundrel, I’ll send you on your way first!" Liu Xuanji, equally reddened in rage, roared as he clashed back.
The deadly combat resumed on the field, but Pei Yan didn’t concern himself with it. His sole target was the spatial teleportation channel being activated at the White Deer Institute. For this, he adjusted his distance and pushed his abilities to the limit. Combining nuclear energy and electricity with the electromagnetic power injected by Xia Yu, they transformed into an endless source of energy, feeding back into the electromagnetic turrets. Three rows of electromagnetic cannons struck the White Deer Institute with an almost mad barrage of artillery fire.
Under such an assault, the perimeter of the White Deer Institute was transformed into a hell on earth. With the continuous cannon blasts and soaring flames, the White Deer Institute’s final defense drew to an end.
