Chapter 78

He had wanted to test his new powers against powerful opponents, but these monsters weren’t providing nearly enough of a challenge.

The remaining Webfiends finally lost their patience. With enraged growls, they lunged toward him simultaneously, their bladed limbs tearing through the air as they attacked from multiple directions in an attempt to overwhelm him through sheer numbers.

Orion watched them approach without showing the slightest sign of concern. He didn’t even bother activating Flash again, knowing that doing so would only make the fight even more boring. Besides, he wanted to see how well he could handle them without relying too heavily on his skills.

He had to admit that his expectations for this battle had been a little too high. Still, there was no reason to waste a perfectly good opportunity to test his combat abilities.

The first Webfiend attacked.

Its bladed limb swept toward Orion’s head with enough force to split an ordinary human apart, but Orion simply tilted his head to the side, allowing the blade to pass beside his face and miss him by the narrowest of margins.

He hadn’t even needed to move his feet.

His expression remained calm as he raised his dagger.

Whoosh!

The blade flashed upward, slicing through the monster’s hand. Before the Webfiend could react, Orion twisted his body to the side, smoothly evading the creature’s follow-up attack.

His movements were so fluid that it almost seemed as though he were controlling the space around him, effortlessly positioning himself just beyond the reach of every incoming strike.

Of course, that wasn’t actually the case. However, someone with sufficient physical attributes and an exceptional understanding of their own body could accomplish astonishing things.

Orion possessed the strength, speed, and perception necessary to make precise adjustments to his movements, allowing him to evade attacks with the smallest possible motions. He didn’t need to retreat several steps when a slight shift of his shoulder would be enough, nor did he need to leap backward when simply turning his waist could cause an attack to miss.

Every movement was efficient, and every motion served a purpose.

His dagger swept sideways, slicing cleanly through the head of the Webfiend that had attacked him first. Its body staggered for a brief moment before collapsing to the ground, but Orion didn’t even bother looking at it.

Another attack came from behind.

He leaned forward slightly, allowing the bladed limb to pass over his back and miss him by a hair’s breadth. The monster behind him had expected its attack to land, only to find itself striking empty air.

How was that possible?

The attack had come from Orion’s blind spot, or at least, that was what the Webfiend believed.

Unfortunately for it, Orion had no blind spots anymore.

With Origin Eyes granting him an extraordinary field of perception, he could observe his surroundings from every direction, leaving his enemies with almost no opportunity to exploit an unseen angle. An attack from behind was no different from an attack from the front because he could see it coming, analyze its trajectory, and respond accordingly.

Orion moved through the battle as though he were taking a casual walk. His steps were light, his movements relaxed, and his expression never changed, even as the Webfiends surrounding him became increasingly frantic.

They attacked from the front, the sides, and behind him. Some attempted to overwhelm him with rapid strikes, while others tried to coordinate their attacks to restrict his movements and prevent him from escaping their encirclement.

Yet, no matter what they did, none of them could land a single blow.

Every attack missed, every attempt to corner him failed, and whenever a Webfiend exposed an opening, Orion punished it without hesitation. A limb fell, a head rolled, and another monster collapsed as his daggers continued cutting through their bodies.

The fight was becoming so humiliating for the Webfiends that it could hardly be described as a proper battle anymore. They were being dismantled one by one, unable to do anything about it despite their desperate attempts to overwhelm him.

And the worst part was that Orion wasn’t even using Flash.

He was dealing with them through ordinary movements and his overwhelming combat capabilities alone.

Within less than a minute, Origin Eyes had analyzed their movements and fighting styles in extraordinary detail. Their attack patterns became easier to predict, and their habits grew increasingly obvious with every exchange.

The small pauses between their strikes, the way their shoulders shifted before an attack, and the subtle changes in their posture whenever they prepared to change direction were all details Orion noticed and used to his advantage.

With every passing second, the battle became easier.

It was almost as though he had already fought these monsters countless times before. His movements grew increasingly precise, and his strikes became more efficient as he adjusted to their fighting styles, gradually turning what had initially been a chaotic group attack into a series of predictable encounters.

The Webfiends couldn’t understand what was happening.

They were faster than ordinary humans, possessed sharp limbs capable of cutting through flesh and bone, and had physical attributes far beyond those of most people. Under normal circumstances, a group of monsters like them would pose a serious threat to any low-level warrior who found himself surrounded.

And yet, against this particular human, none of those advantages seemed to matter.

They couldn’t touch him, corner him, or even force him to take a step backward.

Orion’s calm expression only made the situation more disturbing. He wasn’t fighting desperately or struggling to survive; instead, he simply moved from one opponent to another, dismantling the entire group with almost insulting ease.

Another minute passed.

By then, all ten Webfiends that had surrounded him lay dead.

Ding!

[11 Webfiends have been slain.]

[11 EXP gained.]

Orion glanced at the notification before shaking his head in disappointment.

This isn’t giving me the kind of fun I was expecting.

He had thought the battle would be more exciting. Perhaps the monsters would force him to push himself harder, or maybe he would discover some hidden limits to his newfound abilities.

Instead, he had spent the entire fight barely breaking a sweat.

He was simply too strong now, at least when compared to these opponents.

Orion glanced at his daggers, considering them briefly before making a rather crazy decision.

He sent both daggers back into his storage, leaving his hands completely empty. His rainbow-colored eyes gleamed slightly as he contemplated what to do next.

Let’s see how this goes.

He had already tested the daggers, and now he wanted to find out how well he could fight without them, relying on nothing but his bare hands.

...

Not far away, a group of Webfiends was attempting to break into a street food shop filled with people. The frightened civilians had gathered inside, desperately hoping the building would provide them with some protection from the monsters rampaging through the city.

Unfortunately, the Webfiends had already noticed them.

Their sharp limbs scraped against the ground as they surrounded the shop, preparing to tear through the entrance and reach the humans hiding inside.

The people were terrified. Some had gathered behind the counter, while others huddled together near the back of the shop, desperately trying to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the entrance.

Nobody dared to move, and nobody dared to make a sound.

They could only watch as the Webfiends drew closer, their monstrous bodies blocking the entrance and leaving the people inside with fewer and fewer options.

Then, suddenly, a figure rushed forward.

It was Orion.

He charged straight toward the monsters and engaged them in hand-to-hand combat, apparently intending to stop them from reaching the people trapped inside the shop.

The Webfiends immediately turned toward him, their monstrous faces twisting into furious expressions as they abandoned the entrance and lunged at the newcomer. Their hands morphed into bladed limbs, the sharp edges gleaming ominously as they attacked from multiple directions.

Orion’s expression remained unchanged.

His calm gaze followed their movements as the battle began, and he showed no sign of hesitation despite facing several monsters at once without a weapon in his hands.

Inside the shop, the people stared through the windows, struggling to understand what they were witnessing.

"Wait... Is he crazy?!"

One of them blurted out, unable to believe what he was seeing.

"How can he possibly decide to fight those monsters with nothing but his bare hands?!"

Another person swallowed nervously before voicing the thought that had been running through his mind.

"I think he’s tired of living."

"Maybe he’s a high-level warrior," someone else argued, apparently unwilling to dismiss the possibility that the stranger knew what he was doing. "Perhaps he knows what he’s doing."

"High level or not, this is still stupidity!" another person immediately retorted. "He’s going to die soon!"

An angry old man standing nearby suddenly glared at them, clearly fed up with their pointless arguments while someone outside was putting himself in danger to fight the monsters.

"You lot should shut up!"

His voice was loud enough to make several people turn toward him.

"If you have even half the guts you seem to have with your mouths, you would step outside and help him instead of hiding in here and spewing nonsense!"

The people fell silent for a brief moment, unable to respond immediately to the old man’s rebuke.

Then a young man scoffed, apparently unwilling to accept the criticism.

"Why should I go out there? I’m only a Level 1 warrior! Do you want me to die or something?!"

"Then keep your mouth shut!" the old man snapped.

"But what if I don’t?"

The young man seemed unwilling to back down, despite the obvious anger in the older man’s voice.

The old man’s eyes narrowed.

"One more word, and I’ll throw you out there myself!"

The young man opened his mouth to respond, but the moment he met the old man’s eyes, the words died in his throat.

The old man wasn’t joking.

The young man swallowed nervously, breaking out in a cold sweat at the thought of being thrown outside. If that happened, he would undoubtedly be dead, and he wasn’t about to risk his life just to prove that he could argue with an angry old man.

He quickly shut his mouth.

Meanwhile, the people who had been watching the battle suddenly noticed something strange.

"Look..."

One of them pointed toward the street, drawing the attention of everyone nearby.

"He’s not being overwhelmed."

Everyone immediately turned their attention back to the fight.

And what they saw caused their mouths to slowly fall open.
