One Night Mistake… Now I Carry the Mafia Heir
Chapter 91/A Cold Heart
Chapter 91: 91/A Cold Heart
Chapter 91
Stephanie’s Point of View
Alex locked his dark eyes, deep as a bottomless sea, directly into mine. With his completely marble, rigid facial features the kind that carried not a single shred of remorse or softness he replied with a bone-chilling coldness: "No... I never feel a thing."
I took a swift step backward as if I had received a sudden slap. My entire body broke into goosebumps from this absolute cruelty and the terrifying emotional barrenness with which he spoke of human souls. In a tone filled with shock blended with aversion and disgust, I said: "Damn you... you are as cold as ice, heartless and merciless."
He advanced toward me with his steady, majestic strides that exuded dominance. Without blinking an eye, he continued his approach until only a few inches separated us, close enough for me to feel the heat of his breath. Then, he leaned his massive frame toward me slightly and said in a calm, deep, and resonant voice: "I do have a heart, Stephanie... and rest assured, it beats."
I shook my head, turning away from him as my eyes darted around the room, and said in a heavily sarcastic tone: "It doesn’t seem like you have any heart, for human hearts feel remorse."
Suddenly, and without any preamble, his large, powerful hand with its rough skin reached out and gripped my trembling hand firmly. He raised it slowly, placing it directly over his broad chest, specifically over his heart concealed beneath his cotton shirt. I looked into his blue eyes at that close proximity, only to find him smiling with bitter mockery, deriding my weakness as he said in a calm tone: "Feel my heartbeat now... it’s here, isn’t it?"
I felt his powerful, violent, and terrifyingly regular heartbeats beneath my bewildered palm. I pulled my hand away from him quickly and violently, saying in an intense state of confusion and tension that I desperately tried to hide: "You are legally insane... all of your actions are unnatural."
I walked away from him with staggered steps, heading toward the large wooden vanity table, and sat on the circular leather stool, trying to regain my composure. I picked up the electric hairdryer and began drying my wet strands of hair with hands that were still trembling slightly under the impact of his cold words and sheer audacity. Meanwhile, Alex moved behind me with silent steps and entered the bathroom to take his usual shower.
The moment I finished drying and styling my hair, I put on my comfortable silk pajamas and headed toward the large bed. I slipped my slender body beneath the soft cotton sheets and pillowed my head in utter exhaustion and weariness. At that exact moment, the bathroom door opened and Alex emerged, drying his short black hair with a small white towel. He stopped in his tracks, looking at me as I lay stretched out on the bed, and said with composure: "You’re sleeping early today, unlike your usual routine?"
I adjusted the cover, pulling it up to my chest, and said in a firm tone, my eyes gleaming with excitement and defiance: "Yes, because tomorrow I have official work at a major corporation, and I absolutely must not be late on my first day."
He walked toward his wardrobe with measured steps, then turned to me again and said: "I’ll leave my black credit card for you on the table so you can buy whatever clothes or supplies you need for your new job."
My eyes widened in surprise and shock at his initiative. Smiling with an underlying irony, I raised my head slightly from the pillow, looked at him, and said: "Oh... my wealthy, possessive husband giving me his unlimited card to buy whatever I want! Is this a sudden burst of generosity?"
He looked at me from the corner of his eye as he advanced toward the bed, then stretched his massive, tall frame onto the other side of the spacious mattress, saying with absolute confidence and brevity: "Of course... it is my duty."
I adjusted my posture with lightning speed, looking at his body lying beside me with apprehension and suspicion. In an intensely tensed tone, I asked: "What exactly are you doing? Are you going to sleep here on the bed with me?"
He turned his body toward me, his massive frame relaxing completely over the plush mattress. Looking directly into my eyes, he said with deadly coldness and biting sarcasm: "Are you afraid and terrified that I will rape you tonight?"
My facial features twisted in shock and utter revulsion at his sheer vulgarity, and I said: "What kind of talk is that!"
He fixed his sharp, mind-penetrating gaze onto my flushed face, delivering a biting sarcasm that hit its target with absolute precision: "You were naked yesterday in bed, masturbating while staring passionately at my massive dick, and now you object and complain just because I’m sleeping on the same bed as you? A bizarre paradox."
The words and insults froze completely in my throat, and I couldn’t find a single argument to counter him. My cheeks burned with shame and disgrace because his powerful logic was unassailable, completely silencing my tongue. He shifted slightly, placing a comfortable pillow behind his head and neck, and added as a justification: "Furthermore, my back has been aching terribly for the past few nights from sleeping on this narrow leather sofa."
I dropped my embarrassed gaze to the cover, clutching it with trembling, anxious fingers, and said in a defeated, low surrender: "Fine, Alex... sleep as you wish."
In that quiet moment, his mobile phone let out a sharp beep the sound of an incoming text message. The phone was placed on the side table close to my side. Alex turned his gaze toward the source of the sound and said with composure and a calm tone: "Hand me the phone from your side, please, Steph."
I extended my hand mechanically and without thinking, picking up the phone from the wooden surface of the table. Before I could turn my entire body to hand it to him, the digital screen suddenly lit up, exposing its content directly before my eyes. In a fraction of a second, the breath caught in my chest, my heart stopped beating, and my gaze froze entirely on the screen as if I were looking at a horrific nightmare devouring my reality. The sender’s name engraved clearly on the screen was "Valentina"... my sister!
I felt a severe chill, like the coldness of death, invade my limbs and body. My entire being paralyzed as I read the words carved on the screen with a fatal, bold clarity:
"Alex... I miss you so much. When are we going to meet?"
