One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 1405 - 1402: The South
Igor set out on his journey south.
The south could be considered familiar territory for Igor. Because that is where his hometown is, Luona is just south of Xinbal. Igor's hometown is in Luona.
Of course, this journey south is not a return home for Igor. He could visit home, but he feels returning home would waste his exploration time.
So this time Igor did not choose the route back to Luona.
He walked towards the south, not yet knowing his final destination, but he was certain that during this exploration he would make new discoveries, something he always believed in. Igor now realizes all of this is his own affair; he won't beg others, nor will he bother them.
In Igor's eyes, the south is a remarkably inviting place, not just because his hometown is there, but also because it inherently possesses a magical power.
Both the Wensi Empire and the Mantai Empire are to the south of the Kayne Realm, while the north is barren, with vast, boundless seas.
The ancestors of the Kayne were driven from the south to the north by the Mantai People and the Vero People.
They found a place to live on those hills in the north, discovered their means of survival, and created one miracle after another.
The lands in the south lost their vitality due to overexploitation, making them a bit less than the Kayne Realm. Nevertheless, the south is the source, with a long history and countless secrets.
Initially, the Mantai Empire and the Wensi Empire did not have well-formed groups of Scholars, and for documentation of history, they were not as meticulous as the Kayne Realm. In other words, the hardworking Kayne People created civilization with their own hands, while the Wensi Empire and the Mantai Empire were still in a somewhat savage state.
Although this statement is a bit exaggerated, it also reflects reality. The Mantai Empire and the Wensi Empire do have individuals who document things and value the scenes of miracles they discover. However, those in power do not appreciate such matters, which leads to these Scholars being neglected.
Such occurrences also often happen in the Kayne Realm, as people everywhere have similarities. The clash of ideas only leads those in dominant positions to feel chaos. The leaders of Kayne are more often willing to listen to these trivial matters, whereas the leaders of Mantai and Wensi become a bit impatient.
But leaders cannot stop everything, and many interesting discoveries were secretly kept away.
They carved these findings onto stone tablets, onto various containers, in short, they documented these laws and discoveries in ways they thought would last a long time.
Many things, due to the passage of time, have become puzzles, many things are beyond understanding. These all become points of attraction, drawing people to study them, gradually forming a cultural phenomenon.
Of course, these activities, like the black market, were conducted secretly, hidden from the two empires' leaders.
As an Adventurer, Igor naturally found these things intriguing. However, Igor also understood that he didn't have much time to waste.
Igor knew his ultimate goal was to rescue Kadi, and then face that Kuyi Tulan together.
Previously, they didn't know exactly who their enemy was. The Soul Devourers and the Circus were superficial. Now, Kuyi Tulan's interference has brought clarity to everything. This is truly bizarre; someone who was merely a participant suddenly announces to the entire world that they are your enemy — truly a peculiar occurrence!
Igor sighed; there were many things beyond his control, and often luck played a significant role. Now he only knew that he should head south, but exactly where he still had no clear direction.
Taking one step at a time was also a form of helplessness.
But Igor knew he couldn't rush. Many issues can't be resolved through impatience; he needed to calm down. Only then could he clearly see the long road ahead, and take it one step at a time.
It is only by calming down and taking one step at a time that he could achieve twice the results with half the effort.
Igor was very clear about such matters, so he didn't mind whether he currently had a goal, nor did he concern himself with the time spent constantly traveling. Although he knew his time was not so ample, he also understood that everything had to proceed slowly like this.
The south is his target, but exactly where in the south still needs him to slowly uncover.
These things seem simple, but in practice, they are quite complex, and these things must be gradually unearthed through personal experience.
Igor gazed into the distance, the stars in the sky guiding his way. Such experiences he had many times; solo travel had become a habit.
The stars in the sky shone down, their faint glow like pairs of eyes, watching Igor advance.
The temperature in the south is more humid than the north, even in the dust-laden Mantai Empire, there is still a heavy moisture, and this climate was a test for Igor as well.
Igor was prepared for these things too.
The south is indeed perilous, but he wasn't completely unprepared; as an Adventurer, skills were quickly acquired. This skill is cognition.
Only by cognizing more knowledge can one travel more naturally.
Read ten thousand volumes, travel ten thousand miles.
Previously, Igor thought this was an exaggeration, but now he realized it was a very reasonable statement.
Only by continuously acquiring knowledge could he find ways to double the result with half the effort. Igor had experienced this many times.
Those Scholars were not as pedantic as people said, nor as fragile as imagined; their knowledge was the condition for adventurers to progress.
If not for the summaries made by these Scholars, everything would become extremely complicated.
Igor appreciated having three Spirit Books in his possession.
These three Spirit Books were evidently beneficial to him; after all, these books, compiled from the experiences of predecessors, were undeniably helpful.
The Yowein Continent Travelogue consisted of four books; these four books detailed the Yowein Continent, the conditions of each continent, and their customs and traditions.
Igor previously hadn't realized how widely useful these books were...
Previously, he only tapped into the potential of these books, but now he discovered that their original content was also a treasure.
At the very least, these books recorded the characteristics of every corner of the Yowein Continent...
