One-Eyed Monster

Chapter 1404 - 1401: Ready

  • Next Chapter

Igor felt that he was ready, and he bowed deeply to King Kayne as a gesture of gratitude.

His heart was incredibly serene, even though his mind was still cluttered with many thoughts, he remained calm. When a person knows what their heart desires, they are no longer confused. For everything becomes clear, and those things blocking their way are no longer as obstructive.

Igor now felt everything was clear; he just needed to continue on his path.

What awaited him was the unknown, but that didn't matter, because what he was going to explore was exactly those unknowns.

No one knows what these unknowns are, and it is precisely this fear of the unknown that is most terrifying. But as an Adventurer, he no longer fears it, because what they seek are such unknowns.

The unknown is the greatest source of fear and also the greatest resource. Through exploring this unknown, they can find many unexpected things.

Everyone feels fear of the unknown; it's a very natural thing. The unknown can only be understood through exploration.

Igor's eyes were bright and full of spirit; he had decided to continue on the road.

Where to go, he didn't know, but he had a method to decide.

There are many things that cannot be achieved just because you decide on them; these things are inherently mysterious, the Path of Exploration has no end, and the route to explore is not fixed.

Igor chose the way of throwing a branch to decide the route. This method seems nonsensical, but in fact, it isn't as it appears.

Igor knew clearly in his heart, the ultimate decision of his direction wasn't made by that branch, but by his experiences.

Just like before, if Guru Mountain had no monsters, would he continue in that direction? No, he definitely wouldn't, because such a place wasn't worth his venture. He wanted to capture monsters to earn the Courage Medal; he wouldn't do meaningless things.

So this time, he would again leave the decision to the branch.

When Igor was making his choice, King Kayne and the others had already entered Xiso's residence, where they had other matters to discuss. Most were about army defense and offense. These were things Igor wasn't skilled at, so he gracefully declined King Kayne's invitation.

No one would force an Adventurer to undertake a task, and everyone supported Igor's decision. They knew everyone had their own path to travel, and everyone had their own duties. Igor too would soon follow his own path; his choices were evident from his expression.

So everyone gave Igor a hug, knowing it wouldn't be long before they parted ways with Igor.

Igor was going to do what he needed to do, though they didn't know exactly what the young man would undertake, they believed he would bring them surprises.

Igor was satisfied with this farewell ceremony; he never liked sadness, even farewells he hoped would be happy.

Igor took the branch in his hand; he would throw it into the sky. The end with leaves would give him a direction.

Where to go, leave it to this branch!

Igor didn't have any expectations for this direction, because he knew it was only a direction, the experiences he was going to have were the focus.

With a plop, the branch finally fell, the end with leaves pointed south.

South, over there was beyond the national border, just a little to the west leads to the Ghost Realm, where there are Mantai People, Mountain Monsters, and Dwarves.

It seems this adventure is going to interact with new things.

Igor smiled with satisfaction.

He was going to continue on the road. Previously, he had to take many things along, now he didn't need them. Because he was considered quite a seasoned Adventurer now, these things were external possessions, Adventurers have powerful adaptability. Such adaptability astonishes many.

Although Igor didn't feel he could reach such a level, he thought he should at least test himself. After all, he had come out for quite some time, though he had traveled quite a few places, but he was still unsure if he could survive in a different environment like now.

Who knows, would he cause trouble in a strange place, or would he fall into a dilemma.

Thinking of this, Igor couldn't help but feel very frustrated, he felt like he has been in a smooth situation all along, when could he truly experience real difficulties, whether he could adapt to adversity was something he cared a lot about.

Anyway, Igor felt he needed to attempt more new things.

Whether he could survive in a place where the language is different, whether he could adapt to places with different habits, all these are awaiting to be checked.

Suddenly Igor felt that there were more and more things he needed to do.

He felt he was almost unable to manage everything.

Better to move forward first, as for what happens, deal with it when the time comes, believe his experiences will aid him.

As an Adventurer, one cannot shrink back, nor hesitate, once a decision is made, one must proceed, only then can discoveries be made.

Igor felt he could now very well control his emotion, this was a skill Teacher Hadi taught him when he embarked on the Adventurer's path, and now these skills have finally surfaced. Previously he only accidentally experienced these things; he was still in a vague state about them. But now, he could realize what this feeling was like.

As long as he could experience the meaning of his existence, everything would become very simple. He was going to explore the unknown; those unknown goals would appear before him.

However, before exploring unknowns, he must first understand what is the known portion.

Only with a thorough understanding of known things can one have the strength to explore the unknown.

Igor understood this principle; he knew if he was clueless about the route, then even if he knew the direction, it was of no use.

If an Adventurer cannot row a boat, then how can they cross the river; if an Adventurer cannot drive a vehicle themselves, then they have no way to reach their destination.

If an Adventurer's skills are extremely powerful, but they cannot start a fire, then even if they could single-handedly defend against an entire army, they cannot resist the invasion of cold.

If an Adventurer lacks sufficient knowledge, they would only be a fool. Even possessing powerful skills would be of no use.

Igor was quite aware of his own capabilities; he could take this step because he knew himself well enough that he was prepared.
